BTW, I went to walmart yesterday and had the ariel fabric in my hand (from Anastasia's shirt) and couldn't for the life of me figure out what i might want to do with it. Of course I got home and saw your picture shortly after. It is perfect!

AND I just about want to KILL DH! He comes home tonight, a little before 8 and tells me his off until sunday night! Tomorrow is an extra day off since he worked NYD and everyone else left and then (the sucky part) he has to go to nights starting sunday (stupid, won't even get into it) but we could have hopped in the car and gone to disney IF he had told me! He knows I Have been trying to find a time to do it too!

I love that fabric and just bought a couple more panels since they were on clearance!

oh hubby's they can drive you crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter goes to a public school, and recently the teacher asked me to only dress my DD in "regular" clothes. Not custom stuff. I was very upset. The teacher said that my dd gets too much attention when she wears boutique style clothes. I told her too bad!! She isn't dressed over the top. She has never worn a petti to school or huge hairbows. Just jean outfits with cute tops, the most outrageous thing she's worn is a fur cuffed tee. I told her as long as she isn't breaking the dress code, she will wear whatever I want her to wear. I've seen how the other children dress and it's a shame. Messy hair, spaghetti strap tops, flip flops and shorts that I would have thrown away a long time ago.
I know some of the parents don't have a lot of money, but it's free to clean your child and comb their hair. It's a shame how some little one's get overlooked when it comes to simple things like that.

WOW!!

I have a problem keeping Grace's hair looking nice too. Thankfully in the past year she has just gotten used to having a bow in to keep it out of her face. Last year it was a struggle to keep the bow in while at school but this year I think her hair being in her face gets on her nerves too so she keeps them in. With hair as curly as hers cutting it short isn't an option (she'd look like a little old lady with a pin curl perm!) and it is a rats nest in no time flat!

As a former teacher I know how some kids come to school and I agree, it doesn't take much money to have soap so that they are clean. I taught middle school and EWW, the smell some days when it was hot out! Yuck! The saddest was when I had a 7th grader (a boy) who came to school wearing his Moms jeans (the pleated in front tapered kind). Are you kidding me? That is like asking for a whipping! I knew his aunt (a former teacher of mine) and called her and got new jeans for him but I was afraid of what would have happened had we not done that. The mom was just out of clean clothes so that was all he had to wear were her jeans.

I never thought that a parent had to have namebrand clothes but send them to school clean (even if they do have stains)! Brush hair and teeth, and if they are old enough, please make sure they use some deodorant! I can't tell you how many kids I had to supply deodorant for in middle school. I would have vomited if I hadn't!

I'm usually just lurking here, but I do try to keep up with all the posts. Well after being gone for a week, I'm finally caught up. Y'all have posted some great outfits!! I love all the Cinderella variations.

Here's why I've been away... and the reason I have been stocking up on Disney fabric since finding this board... my little princess is a week old today!

Congratulations!

What a little beauty!

I hadn't sewn anything in a month and it was killing me. I had a few outfits in mind, but needed fabric and I haven't been able to go to the store. So, I just decided to make something with the fabric I already had. So, here's a Belle-ish outfit I just whipped up in a matter of minutes (okay, over the course of 1.5 days). I used the YCMT portrait peasant dress pattern and modified it for a shirt. Then, I made my own pattern for the jumper and apron.

The book was her idea and I think it was a good one!:

She thought I should add this one, too. This is her favorite "model pose":

Okay, now I need to catch up on the last day and a half.

Beautiful job!

Don't feel bad, I did that too a time or two when I first started doing applique. I'm very aware now to have the iron on the right setting and don't leave it in place for long when I iron before I'm ready to fuse it to the base fabric/garment. I still find that sometimes it just doesn't want to stick to denim in some areas. I've also noticed that certain fabric I use for the applique is more prone to not sticking than others. I figure as long as it holds long enough to get the stitching is complete, it's done it's job. LOL

So, speaking of applique... here's a little proof that I really was busy when I wasn't posting here for so long. LOL

I really need to get some pics of Zoe to share soon, too. ;-)

Lisazoe, I love them all but the Pooh is my favorite! Just fantastic! Wish I had half of your talent!

HeatherSue-

LOVE the Belle! It is really cute. I have a Belle on the schedule too. :)

I have been really working on not buying fabric. I really need to use what I have. Although, I am going to get some for my Monsters Inc outfit. I need good Monster fabric for the appliques. I am hoping to start that one tomorrow. I have to finish the babes Little Einsteins outfit and then MI.

When those are done I am going to start on a pettiskirt. I am really nervous and excited at the same time. Then I have the worlds coolest Alice in Wonderland custom planned. I came up with the idea about 6 months ago. I cannot wait but I have adopted a friends rule of never starting a new project until the current one is done! It works.

Hey Girls-

I am looking for an idea for a Jasmine custom. Does anyone have any good suggestions? It has to be blue and a dress/skirt. TIA

Well, then I would LOVE to see the Pooh outfit on someone! Hmmmm...I have 2 DDs and 5 DNieces. It's bound to fit one of them!

I actually made matching sets for sisters. I think their mommy sometimes visits the DIS so maybe she can share modeled photos. If the Disneyland trip my sister and I have been discussing happen, I'll have the perfect reason to make sets for Zoe to wear. Since I do the packing, I'd just make sure the customs were her only options so she wouldn't have much choice about wearing them. :rolleyes1

Sorry, but dh has rubbed off on me and I keep snickering about the "pooh". Especially if it's on Zoe! :rotfl:

LOL, luckily I haven't had to worry about THAT in a few years. :woohoo:

Nothing special but this is one I did last year:

DD 21 finally uploaded her Christmas pictures . So now I can finally post the ones from 12/22 when we took Sam and Kiley to see "The Nutcracker". DD21 and her Dfiance also joined us.

On the steps inside the Lyric Opera House. The bear she's holding was her birthday gift named Hannah Beartana. She also finagled a Hannah Montana outfit, and pajamas, red glitter shoes, Sketchers sneakers, slippers and a purse for Hannah B. out of Mommy and Daddy

I know these aren't custom done....:rotfl: But I found these cute PJ sets at Kohls tonight. I have been watching for cute disney jammies to take on our trip and I loved these!! It's a 3 piece set with shirt, shorts and pants. My boys went nuts when I showed them!

Anyway, just thought I would share!

I agree, I wasn't offended, just pointing out a side a lot of people (like that social worker) might not consider. I HATE that no matter how long I spend on DD's hair, no matter what hair bows or ties or whatever I use, it looks like I did nothing to it 20 minutes later. Short hair on her is actually WORSE, too! :scared:

THe bus monitor felt so bad for me, she told me she tries to get DD not to rub her head on the bus seats so dd gets to school with nice hair, lol. i have tried buns, braids, pony tails, pig tails, etc, etc, etc. :confused3

For Ds, I just need to figure out how to get him to eat and keep most of his food off of his shirt, lol. He HAS gone to school a wreck because daddy let him eat breakfast wearing his uniform shirt, and I didn't catch it until too late. I'm soooo glad this year they have white uniform shirts! Last year, they were blue, and by this time last year, I had to buy all new shirts, the old ones looked so bad. Bleach is my friend, lol.:laundy:

Good, I am glad you weren't offended. I definitely did not want to upset anyone! Have you tried using a frizz control creme before you fix her hair? It might help when she rubs her hair to keep from it getting tangled. I use leave in creme conditioner on my dds hair, and it seems to work well.:goodvibes As for the dirt, I don't know about that! My dd6 is the same way......looks good for about 5min, then somehow dirt manages to find her! LOL, Sometimes I have to change her before we leave the house!

I LOVE this!!! Love the combination of mickey with the chinese fabric!!!!

I also married my high school sweetheart. We met when we were 15 years old and have been together ever since (17 1/2 years). I've advertised the story of how we met before, but here it is again: http://www.geocities.com/heaths32/heathermethenry.html

Me too!!! I married my high school sweetheart, and we have been together since I was 15. I am 33 now, so it has been a while!!!!

The red fabric is recycled from a chinese style dress I bought for DD when she was four that was too small for her and she never got to wear it. I'm going to make her a pair of shorts and an off white shirt to go with it also.

There now NOBODY else can be me!! As if they ever could;)

for some reason you're picking up way more than just the code

Lisa - as always - GORGEOUS outfits! Your applique skill is unsurpassed!

OK, for all that wanted to know how the embroidery machine is - well the report from DAY 1 is, I don't love it yet! It's set up. The first stitch was very bad. I finally figured out how I was threading a specific portion incorrectly. I fixed that. The second stitch out didn't stitch in the area that I thought it was going to, so I didn't have the fabric there. UGH! Now something else is going on with it, and I've given up for the evening. I'll try again tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it goes. I knew that it would be a "plug & play" machine. We'll see how long it takes me to round the learning curve!
