Just back....the shocking things we saw

On one of our recent trips, we also saw a mother instructing her small son to pee on the side of a path. I think it was in Adventureland and we weren't that far from a restroom. They weren't even in line!!!

Now if an adult were to pee in public, they would be arrested and put on the sex offender list -- I kid you not!!

Part of their job discription in to enforce the rules!!! They are not working for Disney just to enjoy the atmosphere and experience The Disney Magic.

I'm saying my daughter DID enforce the rules, but in so doing, was more often than not, treated like crap. Nobody should have to put up with that kind of bad behaviour for the ridiculous wage they're paid.

Disney's also asking these college students who are as young as 18, to deal with rule breakers who may be pretty darn scary. Do I think CM's should 'look the other way'? No! But do I understand better why they may? Yes...

i guess i've got to add my 2 cents. we've been to wdw 8 of the last 9 years and after our last trip, we said we might not ever go back. there were many forgetable moments, but a few that stood out were the 3 kids in their early 20's that were smoking in the boat in front of us on splash mountain. also, i think there was a contest by a large number of the women throughout all of the parks to see who could expose the most amount of skin without being arrested. this exorbitant amount of skin also exposed a tremendous amount of ink and piercings. this is going to sound bad, and i'll probably get crucified over it, but being from out of state and staying on property each year, we spend a tremendous amount of money entertaining our children. one would think that with such cost, much of the trash would be weeded out. i guess, however this assumption does not account for the large number of local one day trippers.

For your information. Urine is steril. I am the father of two. I have never been in the situation YET, but if the choice is pee on the rock or pee your pants- I will probably chose the rock. Believe it or not kids are excited at Disney and no matter how many time a child is taken to the restroom-Pee and Poop Happen!.

Wow is all I can say!

About kids peeing out in the open....well I won't even let mine pee in the woods against a tree where no one will see, let alone at a public place like that! I have taught my kids from early on that we pee in the bathroom, not just where ever we want. YUCK!

As for the smoking, I quit about 7 years ago but I always made sure I followed the rules. When I did smoke in parks and whatnot I made sure I tried my best not to smoke in non smoking areas, it's just plain rude!

Yes and you can also drink it, but that does not mean you would. However this is a civilized society and since the invention of the toilet and public bathrooms, public urination is not necessary. If a child is no longer in diapers, then and he has to pee, it is up to the parent to teach him to go to a toilet, not against a rock of an attraction in a theme park. The bathroom is a few feet away. Peeing in public is not permitted anywhere. We all know Pee and Poop happen but a sidewalk is not a toilet.

Honestly, I'm not trying to argue the point, but until you understand the magnitude of dealing with difficult guests and the sheer size and scope of the park and the problems, it's hard to grasp. When my daughter has someone screaming at her because it's too damn hot and they're tired of waiting in line (like they're somehow entitled to not stand in lines) calling for assistance is futile! They go off on CM's and then carry on with their day. They probably feel better, but they've sucked the magic out of the CM they tore strips off of. Calling for assistance isn't realistic. Gaining a tougher skin is the only way and that's pretty sad.

She witnessed two families who began physically fighting with each other while waiting in line at the Barnstormer! One woman ended up biting the other woman's hand for goodness sake! Can you imagine how many kids witnessed that behaviour?

First, smoking does not make you trash. Unhealthy, yes, trash no. If they lit up on the ride there was not much the Cms could do, unless you wanted them to stop the ride? Second, people with tattoos and piercings are not all trash either. Just like people without them are not all trash. Disney does have a dress code but I hope never to see the day that people with piercings or tattoos are not allowed in the parks. After all my ears are pierced, so I am trash, right? Or is it only some piercings you object to? Maybe Disney can have the piercing police and you can be the first member of the team. ::cop:

If I didn't dislike sweeping statements I might say that people who spend their park time worrying about what others look like are all stuck up, snobbish loosers who never have any fun anywhere. But I won't. Becuse I am not.

Usually we get replies or questions on the Trip Reports Board, not debating, but some DIS members are very passionate regarding issues they find not to their liking.

My husband is a smoker, in 2000 he had a very hard time finding places at the MK to smoke. When he did find a spot, him and another person laughed and they said they felt like they found the prison zone. Yes I want him to stop, and I told him he better invest in the patch, because it will be very difficult to find places to smoke when we go next April. I think WDW needs to make better placements and zones for smokers. At Great America they have poles and a bench and they are told they have to stay within 8 feet of that pole, which isn't a very big area, but at least they are in that area, and people that don't smoke can make a wide berth walking around them.

The Love Bug issue's-must be like our Lake Flies in WI-yuck. The Heeley's, all I can say is they are banned from the parks, the manufuctures don't make them anymore, so maybe in time you won't see them anymor

I reread your post to make sure I was reading correctly...

I would imagine there are a number of Floridians who would beg to differ on your assumption that day trippers are trash...

Just because you're out of state (we come from Canada so does that make our vacation even more special because we've come farther?) and onsite, doesn't give you immunity to humanity with all it's goodness and blemishes.

I've only been posting on this thread to try and help people understand Disney from a CM's perspective, but I can't help but wonder if you're the type of guest with expectations that are unrealistic.

My daughter came home with an incredible sense of patience and maybe not seeing things quite so black and white. While there, I was getting a little impatient waiting in line for a character greeting. My daughter was quick to point out that it was okay to wait...you don't know what circumstances are bringing that family to Disney...children with terminal illnesses, disabilities, etc., and not necessarily situations you would notice right away.

I think it's important that we all stop and realize that Walt built Disneyworld FOR EVERYONE - accessible to all people - not just rich, pretty people who fit the Disney 'image'. Everyone works hard to plan a Disney vacation and everyone (however they may look) is entitled to enjoy the magic! Just my 2 cents!

You are also inferring that because I have tattoos(lots of them and proud of it); that I don't have any money and that you and your family need me weeded out of the parks so you can enjoy yourselves. You have just proved your ignorance. If you knew anything about tattooing at all; you would realize that tattoos are not cheap and that people with lots of tattoos have invested major amounts of time and big $$ in their work. There's and old saying around the world of tattooed folks: The difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that tattooed people don't care if you don't have any tattoos.

So, is this the prevailing attitude out there? DisBoards people; let me know if you think PrincessFontaine and I and our obviously trashy and 'no money having' selves should be weeded out of WDW.

I'm with DizzKneeGeek. I'd be in the trash right with him. Both myself and my partner of 10 years (now that's a whole other can of worms!).

Fortunately we were just down there (our 4th trip) with our 13 year old son 3 weeks ago and didn't see much to complain about. Mostly it was a great experience. Probably the worst were those who chose to wear high heels...can't even imagine how that hurt at the end of the day!

I’ll leave the name calling to those who think they are better than the rest of us.

I was wondering.....maybe since the CM's find it hard & intimidating to confront guests who are misbehaving....how about ALL the people around say something to the troublemakers??? I mean, there is strength in numbers right??? I wonder if the person or people would be cursing us out if EVERYONE in line or wherever spoke up???? Maybe we could spread the word so that you wouldn't be worried about speaking up since you knew that someone would have your back?? I bet a lot of people would stop this rude & disgusting behavior!!

This a good idea. But there is a group of people who have made it clear in other threads such as this that guests are not to 'police' Disney policies. According to them; if a CM doesn't see said violation; then we are to just suffer and put up with it. I'm sure they'll be here soon to reply to your comment.

Wow! you must share your toilet training techniques, I am sure all would appreciate your expertise. If you can get your 2-3 year old to make it to the potty every time from the day you first go with out a diaper you must be a miracle worker. Maybe you should write a book! Speaking as someone who actually has children and who also was in the middle of potty training during our last trip I can honestly say that there is not a bathroom every "FEW FEET". We had a couple accidents during the week. No big deal. We brought exrta clothes as almost every parent does. Maybe for this family there were more accidents that day and there weren't any more. I can understand, not cheer and encourage, understand.
I won't crucify someone for their bodily functions and label them LAZY until I have walked in their shoes. If you found out the boy had a UTI or other illness that didn't give him the control that you expect him to have would it make a difference??

No matter how civilized our society gets there will always be people who don't understand others. They will chose to pick, point, shake their heads, and laugh.
