Just back....the shocking things we saw

Yes the love bugs were really annoying this time. It was really the first time we had any issue with bugs. We were tehre from 9-9 to 9-19. Also, it was the first time we've ever been bitten by bugs! Even me, and normally they leave me alone.

I too noticed all the rude smokers all over. No one seemed to be paying attention to the no smoking rules.

We had an incident at the MNSSHP while waiting for the FW to start. My DD7 had to go to the bathroom and my DM took her about 5 min. before the start. A particularly rude (and might I and overtan) B*$#( told me after I explained that I was holding 2 places for my family )that "you know you can't hold places on the bridge" and when I explained that my 7 y/o had to go to the bathroom her overtan, and overbleached, mother turned to me and said"well I'm 62 and I can hold it" I was shocked! I have never been so upset as I was at that moment while waiting for something to start. When I looked down the railing (of the bridge we were on) and noone else was standing anywhere else, the B%*$#( said, "the rest of the area is blocked by trees!) :sad2: . Well, she got hers because once Hallowishes started, our spot at the rail was mostly blocked and I had to move over to the other side. My DM and DD joined me there about 5 min. after the start and we were able to see most of the FW and some of the castle. I couldn't believe how rude they were!

Mostly, though, everything was great! CM were wonderful. The worst thing was the smoking, for us. Luckily we didn't see any of the inappropriate peeing going on. I guess I should have just let my DD squat right there on the bridge and pee! :rotfl2:

Wow!!! I am sorry your trip was not pleasant. We leave in just a few hours for the airport.....I was already nervous, but this trip report REALLY has me anxious.
I definitely think I would have said something to the woman at the buffet. GROSS!! What is wrong with some people? And the mother letting her kid pee is disgusting too.
The whole cigarette thing is an accident waiting to happen. People hold them down right where little children are walking, I hate to be the person that burns my child. My DH and I would be livid. What is so hard about finding a smoking area?

OHHHH I remembered another thing that really bothered me to no end. We were in Pecos Bills and it was lunch time so it was really crowded. My DH and I are not table savers we go on line together and get our table. We walked around for a while looking for a place to sit. When we got a seat, I noticed a huge group of people (about 20) with 3 tables put together, eating. The problem was is that they were eating their own brought in food. They didn't even buy drinks at the restaurant. They were all sitting there eating their brought from home sandwiches and kool aid while there were lots of paying customers waiting with their food in hand searching for a place to sit. I don't think this is fair.....am I wrong????

No you are absolutely NOT wrong. Very rude.

Earlier in the year I was lucky enough to visit Tokyo DisneySea. It was spotless, I mean I literally saw a cast member sweep up a leaf just as it fell from a tree, but what truly amazed me, was the way the people behaved. I never saw anyone litter. There are smoking areas throughout the parks. THEY WERE THE ONLY PLACES I EVER SAW ANYONE LIGHT UP!!! People went out of their way not to stand in front of you or your children at parades and shows, even if it compromised their own view! The only person I saw cut the line during my entire trip, was an American child who walked right past me, followed by her parents who, to be fair, were very apologetic as they tried to catch up with their child.
We all know, the overwhelming majority of people comport themselves appropriately in the parks, in fact, I have met some truly wonderful people on every WDW and DL trip. Maybe thats why the stinkers stand out so much!

That really puts a damper on the pixie dust, doesn't it? :(

Its to bad people have to act that way. I did not see anything like that last week. As a matter of fact one family offered to help me get out of the Great Movie ride as my door was stuck.

We just returned from a short trip we had 3 full days in the parks. It was just a quick trip before our longer trip in December....we love WDW and go 2-3 times a year. This trip for some reason, we saw the rudest and most disgusting behavior we have ever seen in all our years of going to WDW. We were not looking for it, but it was so blatant we were shocked.

Our first day we went to the MK and our first ride BTMRR. As we were walking up to the ride a woman and her 4 small children were just stopped in the walkway leading up to the ride. The reason: the woman stopped her family of small children to let her son pee up against the rocks right there in the line. I said something to her but she did not stop. So disgusting we could not believe it. The little boy was about 5. What kind of person does this? I would have told a CM but there was none to be found.

We then went to lunch at Pecos Bills. As we were leaving the "fixins' bar" a woman ran and pushed in front of me to get to the shreaded lettuce. She reached in with her hands and scooped up a soccer ball size of lettuce and ran off to her table....no plate no tray and no tongs....her filthy hands.

We stayed in the CR for the first time. Every evening we saw the same thing in the elevators - people trying to get up to the CG to see the fireworks. I would see people pressing the "15" button and I would say "are you trying to get to the CG? They would say yes and I would tell them they have to check in on the second floor and they will let you up from there. One loud mouthed woman with her three kids and husband bounded on to the elevator. She was pounding the button for the 15th floor and a woman next to me did the same...you have to check in on the second floor. She started screaming at this woman "Don't tell me I can't go up there, I got up there from the 9th floor" She was pounding the button and carrying on like a lunatic on a very crowded elevator. She got off on the 12th floor where she did not belong and still yelling. It was 15 minutes before the fireworks so I guess she was frantic.

The people walking around with lit cigarettes is really getting out of control....they were everywhere and not caring one bit. I saw a CM notice a couple smoking and looked like he wanted to say something to them but was too timid to do so. Children on Heelys were everywhere (not to open a can of worms) but they are not permitted in the parks and nobody says anything. People are wheeling and smoking and peeing and it all seems OK. I can understand the kids on heelys because it is not widely noted like the NO smoking policy is. The smoking around the parks really bothers me as there are many sensitive people.

Honestly, between the swarms of love bugs everywhere and the rude people I have to say this was the first time we were glad to go home.
Really disgusting about the boy peeing. On our trip I saw people walking in the parks with lit cigarettes! Could you imagine if they burned someones child while walking through a crowd. I once had a jerk guy at the boardwalk ash on my infant son in his stroller by accident while walking with his cigarette :smokin: Needless to say he is lucky to be alive. The CM need to do their job and enforce some rules. I saw kids with heely's on too. We just missed the lovebugs by a day. Good thing because we had enough of them last trip. They were everywhere and crawling on you if you laid by the pool. But I would take them anyday over some of the rude guests at the parks.

:furious: That is wrong...

Honestly, I can't imagine why DW isn't smoke free? :confused3 The smoking doesn't really bother me personally, but to have smokers around children these days is just nuts. We all know better now. Glad I didn't see any public peeing and hope I never do. :sad2: I will hunt down security if I do - argh. We're talking about major diseases that can be passed through that way - kids can become deathly ill from other people's fluids. :furious: DW needs to stop the bad behavior now.

CM's really aren't trained as security people. They may be hesitant to approach people behaving inappropriately for fear (quite justified) of retaliation! Think of it--oftentimes they're just college students, or retirees, certainly not trained to deal with out-of-control people. Its not like they're trained like a police person is! Perhaps Disney should have more trained security force, uniformed and visible, with the know-how to deal with such people and the authority to enforce it. After all, what can a cm really do besides politely ask an person to quit being an Besides, you never know how many of those people who are misbehaving are drunk, on drugs, etc. They really should only be approached by someone trained to deal with such situations, not a CM.

Don't blame the CM's. They aren't supposed to be confrontational. The ones who are trained to deal with these situations are a little higher up in the organization and they will deal with what needs to be dealt with.
I guess some of this stuff is just a symptom...
We have kids who come to school with some of the most awful things on t-shirts, and the parents defend their rights to be foul.
I saw peeing once this past summer--a little kid into the bushes with mom there overseeing the process.
I sometimes thing we teachers become immune to outrageous behavior. A few years of lunch duty and you see and hear just about everything.

I guess the costs of WDW make people think they own the whole dang park!

There needs to be more security making their presence known so they can stay somewhat on top of rude behavior.

There is just so much wrong with people these days you don't know where to begin.

Not that the other stuff is ok, but the thing that gets me the most is the smoking. Whole cities have gone non-smoking in public...DW needs to take a lead!

Yep, I'm not so much bothered by the secondhand smoke (outdoors) as I am the careless smokers holding a cigarette down by their side. More than once I've had to dodge the lit butt of their cigarettes while the crowd is pressing in!

Do you think that those people are just so used to being the way they are...they either just don't know the difference any more or else they are just beyond caring about what other people think or consider their feelings? :confused3 :sad2:

I'll add another rude behavior I see all the time and haven't seen posted here: spitting in public. When I was kid, if I ever thought about spitting, my father would have cuffed me on the back of the head ... I think the same happened to him from his father .... I guess these "learned behaviors" get passed down.

Next to peeing in public, this is absolutely the most disgusting thing to deal with. These guys ever hear of hankies or tissues??? And to teach your kids the same disgusting behaviors is inexcusable. Just remember, you need a license to drive a car, but you don't need one to be a parent!

Maybe there should be some type of test...

Question 1 (True or False): It is socially (and morally) acceptable for Little Jimmy to "water the flowers" in public places.

Question 2 (True or False): It is environmentally-friendly to spit on the ground because it conserves energy by reducing the number of wash loads (of hankies) in our household or reduces solid waste (tissues) at landfills.

The list can go on and on... Anyone else care to contribute?

You poor thing, did you end up still having a decent trip after all of that?

That is just pure outrage that the mom would let the little boy do that, what would she have done had that been a girl? Let her squat right there with all of her private parts exposed to everyone????

I'm glad it was a short trip and glad to go home (a first for us). We have been to WDW so many times, that is was just ok. I really felt sorry for families with small children with all those bugs. I was speaking to the nicest family and they saved for 2 years for their trip only to have the kids freak out from the bugs....I felt so bad for them.

I don't know what thet woman would have done either if it was a little girl instead...I thought of that too. she did have little girls and they were standing there waiting for their brother to finish peeing. What kind of lessons are these kids learning anyway??

A few trips ago I saw a woman wash her babies rear end in a water fountain....so beware the water fountains!!!!

We are going back in December for a longer stay. We will be leaving on the 15th before the crowds arrive, so hoping for a better experience.

Hey goof,,,,,,,
We just got back also, and I have to say,,,,the best thing for me was to Not compare it to Disney Days gone by. Reason being, people have changed ... everywhere, not just in WDW... the world has changed,,,,unfortunately.
We must take a more defensive approach to everything because so many people are allowed to get away with what they want to do..without concern for others..We can't change that, sad to say.
The only thing I have been able to do, is look the other way, knowing that what I say will not change them....Look at the cute little ones in line that are following the rules, the parents that actually WANT to raise their children, and talk to them,, enjoy their spirit.Hang in there, we are not the Minority as of yet!!!! And with the hundreds of Dissers who are of Magical Spirit,, I am sure your future visit will be more tuned into the Happiest Place on Earth!!

Sounds like my last visit to grandma at the nursing home.

I think that is officially the funniest thing I have ever read on this board. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Thanks for the laugh!
