A December Trip, MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, plus I FINALLY saw the Lion!

So they were basically sending us all out of the park after we got off the ride. I was able to go in the couple stores on Hollywood Blvd on the way out. I got myself a magnet.

I made the same mistake on one of the after hours days. The park was packed that night.

The icing was good, the cake part was dry. Maybe being frozen affected that.

Day 5
Sunday 12/14 Magic Kingdom

Today we were going to MK, It was going to be our only full day there, the other day being the Christmas party. This was another planning mistake, though because this was also a party day. Yesterday, when we were at Hollywood Studios, was not. This one really disappointed me because I REALLY wanted to see Starlight. I was SO excited that they were finally getting a new nighttime parade and now I wouldn't be able to see it. sigh...oh, well, I guess now I'll just have to plan another trip, lol

We got up and had breakfast.

Today I had Mickey Waffles You could choose 2 sides, I chose both to be bacon. I had poured coffee creamer into my refillable mug as I did most mornings to have coffee at breakfast.

We had a LL for HM (I think it was 9:30 to 10:30) We basically just walked into the stretching room. As we were walking in the CM called out "Deck the Halls Move Away from the Walls" I thought that was cute and I was typing that in to my phone so I would remember it to put it in my report as we first got into a Doom Buggy. Well, as you can see obviously, my hubby and I have no idea where the ride pic is taken...

HM was fun as always. After that we walked around a little bit then went over to Hall of Presidents. I always liked that one. I was pleasantly surprised to see they changed the whole thing, I thought it was really good. I took a couple pics

While we were waiting for HOP I snagged a LL for Tiana at 11:20. So after HOP we went over that way and passed by Country Bears on the way and there was a show starting in a few minutes so we went there. It was a fairly full show by the time everyone sat down. I really enjoyed it, I liked the fact that the songs were all or mostly Disney ones.

We tapped into Tiana at 1125 and we didn't wait too long. It was fun, there were 2 couples in front of us and the 2 girls sat in the first row and the 2 guys sat in the 2nd row. We were in the 3rd row. it was mostly the 2 guys but we were all chatting and joking through the whole ride, especially in a few places where some of us got wet before it was even time for the big hill and we all thought, ohh no, we are probably going to get drenched! Well, I don't think Tim got all that wet but I did! All on my left side a couple times water sloshed over the side of the log. I held my head down to protect myself some as we were going down. I kept my phone protected so I didn't get any pics other than the PP Pic.

After Tiana we walked around a little bit and headed into Fantasyland. WTP was our 2nd planned LL for the day, I forget what time it was for but we went there. I love that ride, I know the hubby could live without it but He deals with it for me.

Next we went to Mickey's Philharmagic. That is a fun show, even Tim likes it, lol. There wasn't a huge crowd there but it felt like we waited a long time for the next show to start, we probably just missed one. While we were waiting there was on older lady that was coming down towards where the ramp is to get to the lower area and she hit the wall and tipped over and fell off the scooter. All you could hear was a loud crash and screaming. There were people right there right away. I thought about going over to help (Lord knows I have a lot of experience picking elderly people up off the floor, since I work at a nursing home) but there was another guest there that from what she was doing (looking in her eyes, etc) I could tell she was a nurse or some other medical person. So I think she was in good hands.

After the show the craziest thing happened. There was another nurse that I work who was going to be in Florida while we were there. I think she was there Friday to Tuesday or something like that. She was only going to be spending one actual day at Disney and the rest doing other things in the area. Well, this was the day she was in Disney...at the park we happened to be at. in line at the same ride where we were. It was crazy. We are in line and from below I hear my name and there is Bianca and her family. Too funny, even better being that we were in line for "It's a Small World" of all things.

We headed to Pirates for the last of the planned LL's for the day. I think the time was 1:30-2:30. We tapped in at 1:52.

After we walked around a little and I went in a couple stores in the area then we started thinking about food so we sat a looked at the phone to see what was available nearby. I had thoughts of Columbia Harbor House but then I looked and thought maybe there wasn't a lot that Tim would want. So we ended up over at Cosmic Rays. He got a burger and I had a Grilled Chicken Salad. It was pretty good. We sat there for a while. Tim was watching some of the football game (Bills) on his phone so we stayed put so he could finish it. I looked to see of there were any short lines or LL's available and there weren't any at that time for anything good.

While we were there I used the bathroom and it was funny, I started paying attention to the music in there and I heard "Now is the Time" that used to play in the Carousel of Progress! I love that song. I miss it, I like it a little better than "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow"

After the game was over we went over to the Peoplemover and took a ride on that. I love that ride, it's fun. Took this selfie while we were on there.

I did a little more shopping in the couple stores in Tomorrowland and then Tim was thinking he wanted something sweet. I was looking around and there was Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies.
We ordered the Mickey's Brownie Sundae. It was really good.

By this time it was getting close to closing time so we decided to just head out. I wanted to go to the shops on Main Street, The Emporium, etc so I told him to just go down by the tree and find a spot to sit and wait for me and I would call him when I was done if I couldn't find him. I Was able to go in through all the places I wanted. I did go in the Confectionary and I was going to get some things but that line was longer than I wanted to wait so I passed.

I did buy a Mug at the Emporium that I liked. It says Home on the side and it has a Mickey head in the word Home and then one inside the cup too. Some pics on the way out. Both before and after my shopping.

I don't have it in my notes but I don't think we waited too long for a bus. I don't remember it being too crowded there either.

Tomorrow we are going to Epcot. We have the Garden Grill Lunch and the Candlelight Processional with Henry Winkler.

Thanks for posting…I thought I had checked out every resort but I have never seen the Herbie crashing into billboard !
I will be arriving 12/30 for 2 nights at BLT.
I usually post trip reports on DVC Info I started one for one night Xmas Eve and hopefully get some new photos to add.
I love the mistletoe in front of MK.
I might ask if it is still available but I will be standing all by myself Haha

Disney has far too many party days. We took a five-night trip in October and MK was closed for a party on three of our five days.

While we were waiting there was on older lady that was coming down towards where the ramp is to get to the lower area and she hit the wall and tipped over and fell off the scooter. All you could hear was a loud crash and screaming.

I think there are a lot of people who don't have any experience with driving a scooter. This must have been a fairly lightweight scooter. I hope the lady was alright.

We headed to Pirates for the last of the planned LL's for the day.

Day 6
Monday Dec 15th
Epcot
(Or as I have heard, Every Person Comes Out Tired, LOL)

Today is our Garden Grill Lunch reservation for the Candlelight Processional Dining Package for the 8:15 show with Henry Winkler.

We got up a little later than I planned but it wasn't too bad. Our first LL wasn't until 10:05 to 11:05. We skipped breakfast this day. We just ate some things in our room. Our Lunch Reservation was at 1:45 so we didn't have to wait too long. The weather forecast for this day wasn't too great. It was only going to be in the 60's all day and down in the upper 40's at night. So needless to say, we were definitely bringing the jackets this day.

They were doing some maintenance, painting the Sorcerer Hats in the Fantasia Section. We walked on this path every day to and from our room.

We got on the bus and when we got to Epcot we went right to Norway to get on the Frozen ride.
We tapped in about 10 minutes late but it still let us through. We got off at about 11:30. I really loved and will miss Maelstrom but this was a fun ride, I enjoyed it. I do like the Frozen movies, music and characters.

We walked around World Showcase taking pics. We were heading over to Mission Space where we had a LL for 12:30 to 1:30. We were aiming for the end of the window to have some time to take our time getting there. I didn't go in any stores at this point but I did go in them later.

We went to Mission Space next. We really didn't need the LL, especially for the green side which is what we do but We had them so used them. It was fun. We actually had a capsule to ourselves. It was fun. I think I could handle to Orange side but I'm not sure Tim would like it, even if he wanted to I would be nervous because he does have some medical issues even though I don't know if it would affect him I wouldn't want to chance it.

We sat in the area after you get out and chatted a little bit and then headed towards the land for our lunch. We were cutting it close for time but would be ok. Then he had to have a Bio break so that held us up some. We checked in a few minutes late but only had to wait a few minutes. I am not sure of the photo limit so I will stop here and then our Lunch at the Garden Grill will be in the next post.

We were seated for our Lunch in the end part of a long booth with another family there at the other part of the table. They were almost finished their meal and they did seat another family there but not right away so we had the area to ourselves for part of the time. We don't usually go looking for characters and have never really gotten any pics with them but this was the restaurant I could get a dining package reservation for so we did it. I knew Tim would like the menu although I didn't expect him to enjoy the characters. I got pics with each of them and I did get him to get pics with a couple of them so I was happy.

Tim doesn't eat Strawberries so I asked if they had a "Non-berry" dessert and they said he could get the kids dessert so they brought this chocolate cake in a little pot. It was cute.

After we came out of lunch we had a lot of time to kill before our next LL which was for the Glimmering Greenhouses. I had wanted to get the chance to see it at night so the lights would show up better so I made it for 6:10. I did score a LL for Soarin for 5:30.

We went out and walked around in the Showcase Plaza by the Odyssey and the Holiday Booths and shops. I did get the Hot Cocoa Flight I wasn't exactly needing to eat/drink anything right then because we had just eaten that big meal but I had been seeing all the things at these booths and hadn't gotten anything from them so I wanted to get at least 1 thing so I got it while I could. It was really good.

It wasn't overly hot which for me was a good thing, I don't like things scorching hot to where you can't even drink it for a while. This I could drink right away. I think I liked the cookie butter one the best but they were all good. Tim didn't want anything. There were other things I wanted to try but this was the only thing I ended up getting.

We went over to the Creations store and I looked around in there some. I had been seeing people in this sweatshirt all week and I thought it was crazy and cool at the same time. I said to myself, wow I had a very similar one back in the day, so cool they brought it back! I had to take a pic of it and then I remembered I do have a pic of me wearing it (A very old pic when I was 21 years old. It's actually a cell phone pic of a regular picture. It is actually my Facebook Profile pic. It is with my Grandmother who I was very close to)

Day 6 cont'd

We headed back to the Land Pavillion and went to Soarin' to use the LL I had gotten a little while ago. I think the stand by line was at about 45 minutes at that time. We tapped in at 5:34. I like this one, this year is the first I have seen Soarin' around the world. The last time we were in the World it was still "Over California". When we went to Disneyland in 2022, it was after it had switched to the new one but of course at the time of our trip they were having the California Food and Wine Festival and they had put it back to the original "Over California" again so we missed out on the new one for that trip. Now they are changing it again in the Spring to across the USA, that should be a good one too.

We had just a few minutes until our LL so we just sat on a bench by the exit from Soarin' until it was time.

We tapped in at 6:11. At that time the standby line was 70 minutes!!

I really enjoyed that with the Christmas lights. I took too many pics but I couldn't put the camera down.

After we left there we were headed over to World Showcase to go get in line for the Candlelight Processional. There was this pretty display from Scentsy that I went in to and took some pics. I only really smelled anything on the first one, I couldn't on any of the others but it was a nice display.

As we were passing Canada, we saw this Band playing and stopped to watch for the rest of their set. They were pretty good, They sang traditional Christmas songs. I did get a short video but I haven't figured out how to post those yet. Hopefully I will figure it out sometime soon.

I went through the stores in the UK pavilion. In the back area there was this band playing, I watched them for a few minutes. I took a few pics of the decorations back there too.

We then went to get in line for the Processional. Wow that line was crazy!! I thought getting the package was partly so you didn't have to spend hours in line. We went and got in line at about 7:30 and the line was a LOT outside the ropes they had there. There was a guy with a sign marking the end of the line. Although We did get a seat and it wasn't too bad of one. I doubt many of the stand by people got seats, the dining line was so long. It was cold waiting too, it was like 45 degrees that night and it was windy too. Which compared to what it is here in NY where I live it was warm, LOL but hey, it's supposed to be Florida.

I took a couple pics but no video. I wanted to just watch and enjoy it since I had never seen it before. I will say I loved it. If I am ever there during Christmas again I will definitely go see it. Henry Winkler did a really good job, too.

After it was over we decided to try and find a spot to see Luminous I didn't have any hope that it would be a good one but at least we might see some of it. Well we ended up with a great spot by Italy by the railing. They had it partially roped off (over on the right side) but they let us use the rest of the space. There was a "private event" that turned out to be a wedding on the area next to where we were. I have seen other private parties set up there before but I haven't seen the actual bride and groom out there before. This time they were out there. They came out about 10 minutes before the show started. That poor Bride must have been freezing but her dress was really pretty. I wanted to take a pic but I felt weird so I didn't.

There were a few people at the railing and we were right behind them, I ended up with a great view between 2 people. I didn't take any pics because I was never able to get decent pics of IllumiNations so I didn't try. It was a great show, though I really liked it. It didn't hit the feels like IllumiNations did, though but it was good.

We just took our time and walked slow on the way out. I had to use the bathroom and went to the one by Norway. The crowds leaving by then were not too bad at all. We got to the bus stop at 10:22 and on the bus at 10:33.

We got to the resort at about 10:45. We decided refill our mugs and then get a little snack
They closed at 11 so I got in and ordered right before that. I think 11 is early to close when the parks are open late. People might want a little something before going to bed. We were lucky we had some snacks in the room. We shared a milkshake and a big Mickey Loaded Brownie

We were seated for our Lunch in the end part of a long booth with another family there at the other part of the table. They were almost finished their meal and they did seat another family there but not right away so we had the area to ourselves for part of the time.

I don't like it when the tables are so close together.

I knew Tim would like the menu although I didn't expect him to enjoy the characters. I got pics with each of them and I did get him to get pics with a couple of them so I was happy.

The characters can be a lot of fun. We used to go to characters meals when our kids and grandkids were young.

The standby line for LL is crazy at Christmas. If we go back to WDW in December we will buy the MPLL. We haven't seen the Christmas lights at LL in years because of the lines.

I have been to a few. I have even been to Garden Grill in the past, I think it was 1999, I was with my parents and 2 nieces. I remember that Minnie was one of the characters back then.

Loads of fun you both had on this trip so far! I've enjoyed reading about your adventures and agree, I loved Maelstrom more. I miss it! The Scentsy displays ARE always so pretty but never very "scentsy". Still haven't gone to GG but that's not my eating style so will probably continue to pass. That's what's so great about Disney, they've done such a great job at making sure that there are loads of vibes available for all tastes and personalities.

Someday I'll make it to the Processional. The one time I tried to get a glimpse I was so disgusted with the behavior that I left with a low opinion of humanity in general. LOL!
