Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

Yeah, I've conceptualized a Beauty and the Beast dark ride before, but like as big/immersive as Pirates, not like the FL dark rides.

The ride car is a Maurice invention, with a stain glass of a character in a window on the front of the vehicle. I decided that whichever character (Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Chip, Cogsworth) would narrate the story as you went through.

The queue would be the prequel to the ride, like a stone castle, with the stain glasses from the movie and storybooks explaining the curse and the rose.

Wow those are great ideas!

I would really want to get on the Lumiere one! I love his accent!

It would have to be a different voice actor, RIP Jerry Orbach (that guy was awesome!)

But, it would be pretty cool.
And the script would have variations depending on the character, too.

That would have been a great addition for the Fantasyland expansion. Too bad the B&TB area is already kinda huge. Still would love to see it.

Yeah, with the new interactive story tellling it'd be kinda redundant, unfortunately.

Maybe in DLP?

I'm all for resort-unique attractions! (and DLP has its fair share of them!)

Okay... I've never read this article in my life and now this, too:
Unlike the other parks there is no Jungle Cruise style attraction due to the cold temperature and weather of France. However a similar attraction called "Jungle Expedition" was planned where guests would board a jeep and traverse a steamy jungle which was under the protection of a glass roof to keep elements out. The jeeps would have passed giraffes, a pool of hippos under a suspension bridge, and a large temple where guests would have witnessed the "I Wanna Be Like You" segment from the Disney film, The Jungle Book, complete with audio animatronic versions of Mowgli, King Louie, Baloo, Bagheera, and the Monkeys. The jeeps then would have been chased by a tiger before returning to the load area.

xD

Like honestly I thought i had a good creative unique ride going on there :p

Too bad that ride would have been extremely Geographically incorrect. Tell me where you can find giraffes and hippos in Asia...

I assume it'd be like the Jungle Cruise, where you traverse through different countries/continents.

wow look at that! Looks to me like we were thinking just like Imagineers do! :D

no i didnt know. Tell us more!

"Bottom line, there's a very cool class under the designation Theater C146A at UCLA. It's taught by Bruce Vaughn, the funny and articulate Chief Creative Executive of WDI."
"Go to UCLA. Only college in the world that offers an Imagineering class, and it's taught by people who undebatably know what they're talking about because it's what they do. That's a very fun and educational start, but it won't get you a guaranteed job at WDI."

copied from Datameister's posts at Micechat (he's taken the class)

I don't know too much about it, it's kept under-wraps but UCLA is the only school that's ever offered it and it seems like a a blast, especially to a techie like me xD

I want to go to there.

wow!!!
So basically, what is it about?

"It's by no means a requisite of any sort, and it doesn't automatically make you an Imagineer or anything like that. It gives you a chance to learn a lot first and foremost, but additional advantages for those interested in such a career include getting to meet major Imagineers, getting your face out there, taking a look at the inside of WDI, and having a chance to submit resumes and get contact information and so forth."

Like I said.. all I can find is pretty vague but this guy also said that he and his class got to ride Soarin' before it opened for the day xD

I think it introduces you to what imagineering does and also theme park design class type things, too.

Woahaohwwoah.

Data (datameister) also did the ImagiNations competition this year.
edit: actually dunno about that, but he did present a project at Imagineering at some sort of group competition.

Damn, that guy is living my 4-years-from-now dream life :p
