June, CSR, GAD, and GLAD about it!

EP: We have never seen Illuminations either--looking forward to it on our upcoming trip. Soarin' is definitely on our not to be missed list.

DHS: It is the hardest park for me to plan. We will end up splitting up for sure this day. We also are planning F!

We did Fantasmic in 2006 when it was still running every night. We really liked it. We just don't like waiting for it now that it is only a couple times a week. I've seen pics of the standing room section in June. It is not pretty. :scared1:

We will help everyone out by not going!!:lmao: Everyone Else going in June, Have a great time!!!

Still waiting on my vouchers!:surfweb:

:yay: for GAD passes! One more thing done!

Hip-Hop-Hooray!!

Thanks all, Now I have to decide how the FP will affect our touring plans. Will we even need a touring plan??

I've found that buffets are usually good choices for picky eaters!

Thank you for your encouragement. Boma is going to be a new experience for us. I know DH will love it.

Kathy

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: yay for having your vouchers!! How exciting! :goodvibes

They are so pretty. I wonder if I can print one just to keep as a souvenir?

It is going to get a little colder here this weekend.

I have decided that I am totally spoiled by the on-line ADR system. When you had to call, I would decide on my ADRs, make them, and never change them. Now that I can go on and look around, I have found myself making changes.

Here is what happened today.

I have been reading a lot of threads about using the GAD FP. The general consensus is that you don't need one for AK. I was talking to DH about it, and he came up with the idea of using one at AK but not rushing to get to rope drop. He thought we could do a nice breakfast that morning and head to AK before 11:00.

We had originally planned on O'Hana's breakfast on the morning that we leave, but DD17 was not thrilled with the menu. So, I started to research. We all agreed the choices at the Supercalifragilistic Breakfast at 1900 Park Faire are more up our alley. So, I booked that breakfast for 8:15 on the morning of Sunday, June 20. Then we will go to AK. We have dinner that night at Boma. Canceled the O'hana's breakfast on Tues.

I'm very please with this decision. I know that if I hadn't been able to just sit down and research at the computer and see if anything was available, I never would have made the change.

I know what you mean about the online ADRs. I have changed mine countless times. (I think I only have 2 originals that I booked at my 180 mark). I think the 1900 Park Fare breakfast sounds fun. They have a great character line up:goodvibes

I agree! The online system is AWESOME!! It's so much easier to see what's available and what works for your schedule.

I've never eaten at 1900 Park Faire...can't wait to hear how you like it. We're doing Boma as well..I'm so excited for that one. :cool1:

A few weeks ago, we decided to buy a Wii. I know, we are very far behind the times. :confused3

Well, today I bought the TSM game. I thought it would be good idea to get in shape for riding TSM at DHS. :rotfl2:

It is loads of fun. I am pretty good, if I do say so myself. :lovestruc

Loving the great weather.

Well I guess it is about time to start planning each day. :thumbsup2

Our first day is actually the day before we get to WDW. We will leave on June 16 and head to Washington DC. Our flight leaves from Reagan National the next morning, so we thought we would go down the day before and do some sightseeing.

If you read my TR from last year, you will know we spent the day at Mt. Vernon. We had a very nice time.

Although we live about 2 hours from DC, we rarely go there. I know sad.:confused3

So, we have to decide what to do. We were hoping for a WNBA game, but there isn't one. We've done the whole Smithsonian thing tons of times. The girls have done it even more than that because of school trips.

We thought about the National Geographic Museum. But we aren't sure.

Maybe the zoo??

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That evening we will spend the night at a hotel near the airport.

UP next: Day 2

DC is great. We are about 3 hours away and never go though. The 3 hour drive can easily take 9 hours for us!!! It is gorgeous this time of year though with the Cherry Blossoms blooming. We are planning an overnight trip for this summer to do the Zoo and then head toward Baltimore for the Aquarium. We also have to stop by the Poe memorial....I am a Poe FREAK! I even have a Raven tattoo on my neck with my kids birthdays on it. I have been reading Poe to them since they were born. My 8 year olds favorite thing to read is the tell tale heart!!!

We took DD to the Holocaust Museum the last time we went up there. She enjoyed learning about it. I enjoy wandering around DC and looking guilty. Or playing the "Count the sniper" game at the White House gates. We have always found it captivating how much security is in DC. I hope that you don't run into traffic on your drive. It can be crazy!

The DC zoo is fun especially if you like Pandas. Though we just sent the baby (who wasn't little anymore) back to China:sad2: Do you like baseball? Maybe you could catch a Nationals game.

Thank you for the advice. The Poe Memorial idea is a good one. Both DH and DD17 would really like that. We could stop in Baltimore first before heading to DC. Maybe even grab lunch at the Inner Harbor.:hippie:

I know traffic is always an issue in DC. DH would still rather deal with the traffic then drive all the way to FL.

Thanks for the idea. We are not huge baseball fans, but I will check it out. We haven't been to the DC zoo in quite a few years. We do like the pandas.

Please keep the suggestions coming.

I could see how the Online dining reservation system would be addictive--I used to get a general idea of how dates were looking a few weeks before them. Alas, I cannot make changes via the system because our party size is too large! Which is probably a good thing. ;)

Have you visited the actual monuments? The Jefferson Memorial is a particular favorite, the Vietnam War Memorial is another one that gives me goosebumps. I like those type of things! Our family is huge zoo fans--we have never been to the National Zoo before but I have heard good things about it. I would love to see it someday.

I haven't been to DC in several years...but how about the Bureau of Engraving and Printing? They used to do a cool tour. I'm not sure now with all the new security, but if they still do it that could be fun. Or maybe Arlington Cemetery?

I've never been to the Zoo, but I'm sure that would be great! :thumbsup2

Yes, we've been to the monuments. Because we live about 2 hours away, this is always a field trip for the girls. They have been more times than me. We have been to the zoo but not for a few years.

A decision has been made to follow.

The girls have been to Arlington several times. We have made a decision. I will reveal in the next post.
