OK, I give up. I wasn't paying close attention how to multipost (about 200 pages ago). Can I have a crash course again.

Thanks

Hi everyone!!! :cheer2:

My name is Lindsay.. married to Derrick and we have 2 little girls, Valerie and Eleanor (or sometimes Ellie). My husband is in the US Navy and I am currently a stay at home mom. We are stationed in Sicily for the next couple years and are enjoying it, although my husband has been deployed pretty much since we got here. We're getting super excited though as he's due home a couple weeks before the cruise! He has yet to meet our youngest, Ellie as well!

We've never cruised before.. so I'm hoping to learn a lot from you all! I just booked us today.. I had to wait because we weren't sure on homecoming dates until this week for my Dh. I am *so* thrilled and already seemingly addicted to reading posts on here (i'm a message board lady at heart.. usually read parenting boards and the like). I just cannot wait!! We've already seen almost all of Sicily.. so if you have any Q's on that feel free to ask!

I'll ttyl!!!

Hi Lindsay

my first day on the board today as well, you're going to just love the cruise, disney really know how to make you feel special,

OK, I give up. I wasn't paying close attention how to multipost (about 200 pages ago). Can I have a crash course again.

Thanks

OK - hope this is legible - when you read a post and you see something you want to comment on - you have 2 options - hit the quote button which automatically takes you to post right away and therefore once you post you have to find your way back to your original spot or options #2 - multi quote:

As you are reading the posts and see something you want to reply but still continue reading and answer later you hit the button next to the quote button at the bottom of the post it looks like: "+ see it? Well, it will look like nothing happened. Continue reading and hit this button each time you want to respond to something. When you are all done, hit the button on the bottom left or top left that says post reply. The posting box will open and all the quotes you hit will automatically be included. You can chose to delete anything from the post if you want to shorten (which is what I usually do) and address only the portion you want too. You can also chose to post within that post but make sure that you bold, colorize or Italics your text so that we know what you responded.

Also, if you wish to post after the quoted text, just look for the end quote which will look like this? [/QUOTE] if you see that - that quote has ended and if you multi-quote - you'll usually see that one next looks like:
- you just insert spaces and lines where you want them.

Hope this helps and I didn't further confuse you!

Oh yeah -I think Mary Jo holds the record (groan for another competition!) at 36 quotes. The downfall to this is that sometimes you forget why you quoted someone and oh yeah! A lower post count! :rotfl2:

Which BTW for you newbies - is another competition that the Brits are winning at. Everyone once in a while someone will post what the counts are and the whole frenzy starts all over again.

First of all - :welcome: many newbies jumping aboard lately - :welcome: all

and second: HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO EVERYONE!

While technically not a veteran, I am prior service and am proud for having served my country in what form I personally could contribute by. My brother is a veteran of the 1st Gulf War and my sister also served in the past. While the times I had were not the best, they played a gigantic part in shaping the person I am today and I for one both  and appreciate this country - its wonderful people and the opportunity we have here.

Thank you all and one last thing:

Thank you all who have served or will serve - you are appreciated! And especially thanks to those families who have lost a loved one. They are appreciated!

OK off my soapbox! Thank you for listening.

thanks, it seems i should be pleased with myself for getting a pirate especially as it's my first day on the board,

Very please milady! Very please indeed! That was the fastest pirate: by a newbie and dare I say a record not to be broken for a LONG time? :rotfl2:

 all

Well made it to Solvang tonight by 10 pm. I am asking for some good wishes from my DIS family as we had something scary happen just before we left - everyone is fine family wise but emotionally that is another story. I'm just drained and have the onset of a migraine and I think its just due to nerves. When I feel a little better and I'm not :sad1: I'll post some more.
Well, what a way to start off a mini-vacay. I am glad that things are okay, but really sorry that you had to go through something unpleasant and scary. We're here for you if you feel like talking about it.

this is the first time ever I have joined a forum on anything, we have just booked to go on this cruise and we are all very excited. We went on the disney magic eastern carribean in 2005 it was fantastic and can't wait to do this one.
My name is Maria and my husband is Richard, we live in the uk and we have 3 daughters, harriet 11yrs, Phoebe 9yrs and Hermione 4yrs. I am with the JOHARDY party, It would be great if we could find some friends for them to chat to before we go. That way we may actually get them to go to the kids club.

looking forward to hearing from anyone,
Well, welcome to the July 28th cruisers. I wasn't as active on this thread since the beginning like many of the other regulars here, but I will admit that everyone is extremely friendly, so you should feel at home right quick with all of us. As mentioned in other posts, there are some nice summaries about us all that will help you kind of sort us out. There is also a summary that tells the excursions we are going on, and what dining we have, so we can see who will be on the same timetables.

I think I'm going to go to that summary & see how many DISers we have on the cruise, and how many in each age group -- just for kicks.

thanks for you kind welcome that includes everyone. I'm really enjoying reading everyones post I'm concerned it may get addictive and that will mean I'll never get enything done at home.
You say that like there is something wrong with that. ;)

Where is everybody ? it's so quiet on the board today, I know it's bank holiday in England, but it's so cold here in the north so we've decided to stay at home today, have more time to chat than usual , may even try to get my first pirate.
It's 8am here in Los Angeles, so I slept in a little. My dd had a busy weekend, so I don't expect to see her until 1pm. Until then, she'll be in la la land.

Mystic, our yougest likes to sleep between our pillows! Forgot to tell you Spirit (all white is our male, Nala & Mystic are both females. I think I figured out this picture thingy...

What beautiful dogs! I love to see family members (2 & 4 legged) pics.

Thank you , I know this may of already been covered in previous posts but how are people getting from Barcelona airport to the ship , do Disney have any transfers that you know of ?

I've recently added Disney transfers to my ressie.

We're getting to Barcelona on the 25th (I'm very remiss in getting a hotel room, though. I HAVE to book one today), and I plan on just grabbing a taxi to the port. With the three of us that should work okay. When we arrive back to Barcelona, I'm going to rent a car at the airport, so I recently (last week) booked transfers from the ship to the airport. That way, we won't have to worry about transportation. I think it came out to $25 per person.

Jason and I had literally the MOST AWFUL RETURN TRIP.....seriously we've never had such a bad experience travelling...it almost makes me never want to get on a plane again! First of all....the Barcelona airport is a NIGHTMARE!!!! (So all you folks who've been lurking on this thread as you prepare for Med cruises or the August Repo.....TAKE HEED.....BCN airport is really poorly organized and crowded and confusing.....make sure you allot PLENTY of time before your flights!).

Well, that is alarming. We plan on getting to the airport 3 hours before departure. We have to do the same at the LAX airport, and our departing flight is at 6:30am.

jo do you think we can see if we can change our flights

Well, I'm a different jo - but I think it would be a good idea. However, if you can't, then don't worry about it. Things usually work out. I read, though, that after 4pm, you'll be checking in at the ship instead of at the part, so just be prepared for that.

Yeah!!! You got a pirate!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

what does that mean, oh I'm so new to this

The pirate: is a fun game & already explained, so I won't. I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS on getting a pirate after just joining. Ahhhh, an unwitting victory, to say the least, not even knowing what it is -- maybe that's a trick we should try ..... nahhhh ;)

Only joined today and she's got a pirate: already! :rotfl2:

Brutal, isn't it. :lmao:

That should be plenty of time! When we booked the air, the only flight to NY was at 10:30 am I think, so the TA told us not to chance it and to stay an extra night- so we are leaving the next day on the 10:30 am flight- I figured the extra 300.00 for the extra night at hotel waw worth my nervous stomach not kicking up- What time will they throw us off the boat????

That was a smart move. I heard we'll be off by 9am, but that is a LOT of people to get off so early!

Well, being as OCD as I am - I had the TA call at least 6 times. All times before the last 2 DCL said they should be off by 10 - the last 2 times its been 9:30 and last time it was 9 but definitely 9:30 so by the time we get there - it will be down pat. I hear the airport is only about 20-30 minutes out not that far but haven't experienced their roads out there. LOL - on my Barcelona map it only looks like about 1 1/2 inches away! But I am anxiously glued to the Q&A ? board from the 1st Magical Sailing. Just subscribed.
I just subscribed, too. It's fun reading. It looks like the airport isn't that far, but it also looks like we'll be going through the city? and that would add to the time.

OH YEAH - question for anyone. Does anyone know how to post a link to a slideshow which I did not originate? One DISser posted a slideshow with several pictures of 'fish extenders' (which really are just a mail organizing pouch which you can get at dollar tree stores or Wal-mart, K-mart type of store.) Anyway, I have his permission to post it here but can't seem to get it to work properly - what am I doing wrong? Help!
The easiest way to copy the slideshow is to quote that post, and then find whatever code they used to contain the url, copy it all, and then post over here. You might even include the quote tags, so you would copy the whole quote, post it in a reply post here & delete the info you do not want to contain. HTH

As someone said - its for leaving things at peoples fish hanger and is a way of letting others know that you are a DISser. That is not to say that others aren't as this has been picked up by others but it sure is fun coming 'home' and finding a small present waiting for you. Since we have a weight restriction coming over - I just figured I'd get something from a port and deliver it to the fish extender. The habit originated by a DIS cruiser some years back - I'm sorry for not remembering her name but that lady was a sweetheart for coming up with such a wonderful idea.
What a neat idea. I know some of the repeat cruisers seem to have this down to a science. :)

Also, another idea - most DISsers put some kind of decorations on their doors - how about a door decorating contest? Judging to be held someway at the end of the cruise? That way those of us that are held to weight restrictions have a few days to gather door decorations? The slideshow I want to post also has pictures of some door decorations. BTW, the people with the advantage here are those that scrapbook. ;)
Another great idea. I think with this one to remember that Disney does not want any tape, so we'd have to get those magnetic sheets that you can print out, or glue your artwork to magnetic strips. There is a whole thread dedicated to showing their artwork.

Just a quicky before I run off to my trainer (don't think I'm a good girl - I had pizza and beer last night!!)
At least you're doing something active - good for you (I really need to).

Way to go Mary Jo on the multi posting!!
Thank you - I'm a quick study. :)

Hello to the new friends - the Brits definitely are gaining on us!!
I think that is so much fun! I have a habit of adopting different accents, especially if I like them. I'm sure I'll come back to the States speaking like a Brit, or at least with some of their terminology.

Happy Memorial Day to All (flag waving smiley :) )
Happy Memorial Day.

OK, I give up. I wasn't paying close attention how to multipost (about 200 pages ago). Can I have a crash course again.

Thanks
At the bottom right of each post you'll see some icons.

Mary Jo - I can quote on the thread it pertains to but how do I copy it to this thread? I lose the links when I copy and paste it here. Tried to quote it directly but don't know how to quote it to this thread.

I did tell you all the I have a knack for making simple things complicated? (To say the least!)

I will try and explain what I do.....

Go to the post you want to quote and click the QUOTE button.....when the words come up Highlight what you want to copy and right click and copy. Then go to the the thread you want to post on and open a new post and right click and paste. Then I highlight again and BOLD it .... so everyone knows they are not my words......

Does that make sense??

Okay, here's what you do... Go to that post, and quote it. When you are in the new reply field with all of the text, hit CNTRL+A on the keyboard to select all of the text. Then on the keyboard hit CNTRL+C to copy the text. Come back to our thread, click on the reply button, and then CNTRL+V to paste the text into your post. They you can modify what you would like. If you are not comfortable with keyboard shortcut commands, then go up to the menu bar and under edit, use select all, copy, & paste.

That should work :)

Welcome to the DIS! And welcome to our DIS cruise family. :) I've only been on the 3-day, and without my kids, so this is pretty much a new experience for all of us. There are a lot of pages to catch up on, but if you go to the first page you should see some nice summaries on us.

Also - people who have gone on the Transatlantic cruise & are currently on the 1st Med cruise have been posting on the trip reports board and you might want to go there & see what experiences they have had.

thanks, it seems i should be pleased with myself for getting a pirate especially as it's my first day on the board,
Very pleased milady! Very please indeed! That was the fastest pirate: by a newbie and dare I say a record not to be broken for a LONG time? :rotfl2:

This just struck me as funny. If you only knew the depths that people have resorted to to get the coveted pirate. :rotfl:

Oh yeah -I think Mary Jo holds the record (groan for another competition!) at 36 quotes. The downfall to this is that sometimes you forget why you quoted someone and oh yeah! A lower post count! :rotfl2:

Tom - question for you. My girls will be 3 on Oct 15 and Oct 29. Long Story - we 'rescued' one from a pupply mill store in Vegas with the intentions of giving her to a loving household but when I found a suitable house -she'd bonded with Isis - and since they are only 2 weeks apart - figured oh -well what's the most damage she could do? :rotfl:

Chloe - the white dog is about 57 lbs and very mild and meek until she loses it which has done only twice since we got her at 5 months old. Very gentle and only stands up for herself when she's been pushed to the limit. About 2 months ago - I was in the bedroom - Isis got 'bossy' (playtime is early am) and I heard the sound of furniture being moved around, then growling (serious growl not play growl) and contact fur flying fight. I flew into the room and they both stopped and looked at me like - Uh OH! We're in trouble. They both retreated to the back door to be let out and they were angels for about 2 hrs. I just laughed - they are no different than human kids! In fact when next I looked they were curled up in the same bed outside! One's face on the other's flank. Go figure!

Anyway, couple ?s - When do they settle down? Not as wild? Their coats are not as fluffy as your white and brown and white - more like your B&W, please forgive me I mixed up their names - know Spirit's LOL. But will their coats get fluffy or are they like that for life? Works great for me - the white one sheds a lot more than Isis but oh well, one is better than 2.

I have a few q's.. (I have *never* cruised before.. so it's not really in comparison to other cruise lines but more of a 'cruising for dummies' ;) )

What is really the difference between formal/semi-formal nights? I read it somewhere awhile ago in an old post and now I'm not finding what I'm looking for. Do men *have* to wear tuxes on formal nights? (no idea where I'd find that in the middle of nowhere, Sicily..). Dark dressy suit and tie okay? For formal is it actual super fancy ballgowns or something you'd almost wear as a bridesmaid dress or is it dressed down? If you don't what to go that route can you just eat elsewhere that night?
And for semi-formal.. then is it more cocktail dresses, etc.? Do most people do the formal/semi-formals.. esp being a long cruise?
ETA: We love dressing up.. my main concern is the cruise is only 8 weeks away (hooray!) and we live out in the country where we don't really have access to shops for gowns/tuxes. Might be able to order cocktail dresses and that type online for atleast the semi-formal.. but if not many do it I wouldn't want to waste my time, kwim? It sounds so fun!!!

I'm sure I'll have more Q's soon. Thanks for letting me ask! :flower1:

To all of our serice men and women and their families ...THANK YOU
You are in our thoughts and prayers always but especially today.

We never do tuxes.....we dress for Formal and Semi Formal like we were going to church.....Suits are fine.

Usually, about 10% have tuxes...10% have jeans with diamond studs.....and the other 80% are somewhere in between. As we are coming from the US, we do not have much luggage space.....we will be doubling up a lot!!

Hi everyone

Popping in again - will try again tonite -

I want to give a big welcome to Tom and Lynne, crawford and Lindsay

I hope I did not miss anyone

We certainly are blessed here in the USA!

This is the first time DH is renting a tux. The sole reason is so he doesn't have to carry a jacket for formal or semiformal night from home. I'm worried about being overweight as it is (the luggage I mean - although I could stand to lose about 10 lbs):lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Also, thanks MaryJo for info on how to stick the quotes here and there. You truly are "queen of the multiposts". I'll try this eventually.
