Welcome, Maria! I know what you mean -- there is still part of me that occasionally wonders what I am doing spending so much time on a cruise forum! I lurked and just used the boards for years just to collect information before I started to feel that it was wrong not to participate and give back in some way.

My youngest daughter is turning 10 this Thursday and is very friendly. She would live in the Lab if I would let her, so she will definitely meet your two older girls.

thanks for you kind welcome that includes everyone. I'm really enjoying reading everyones post I'm concerned it may get addictive and that will mean I'll never get enything done at home. The weather here in the UK is typical for a bank holiday weekend, rain, wind, rain and more wind so at least it is giving me something to do today.
I'm sure my older girls would love to hear about the lab from your daughter, they didn't even last and hour in the clubs on our last cruise

I have to agree I like the look of those fish extenders too and would love one too.

this is the first time ever I have joined a forum on anything, we have just booked to go on this cruise and we are all very excited. We went on the disney magic eastern carribean in 2005 it was fantastic and can't wait to do this one.
My name is Maria and my husband is Richard, we live in the uk and we have 3 daughters, harriet 11yrs, Phoebe 9yrs and Hermione 4yrs. I am with the JOHARDY party, It would be great if we could find some friends for them to chat to before we go. That way we may actually get them to go to the kids club.

looking forward to hearing from anyone,

WELCOME WELCOME!!!!

Love the fish extenders do any britts know where we can get them in England ?

I think, but not sure, that you can make the extenders. But the dollar stores and some drug stores have some that are considered door organizers (for make-up, sewing notions, small toys- I will try to find and post a pic) which you decorate, which is why my daughter is doing.
There is a tween/teen thread that your kids may want to post on- here is the link

Where is everybody ? it's so quiet on the board today, I know it's bank holiday in England, but it's so cold here in the north so we've decided to stay at home today, have more time to chat than usual , may even try to get my first pirate.

Thankyou I am going to start thinking about how to make my own, it helps now that I've seen a picture of one

I dont think its been this quiet since I joined, many people go to their summer homes where I live for this long holiday weekend- my neighborhood is dead- I feel like im the only one home- we went to the beach on Sat- and at friends for a bbq yesterday- We have had high 80s here on Long Island. Today, I will do a little shopping, and continue planting in my garden- I hope you get a pirate, I will try to post to help you get closer :thumbsup2

Oh boy do you need Andrew-!! :worship: He has answers to everything or he can lead you to answer!!! Ok--what I have learned from this board is- Disney does have transfers, but Im not sure if it would be cheaper on your own, I am coming in from a night in Paris and then a extra night on Barcelona before the cruise, so I have transfers from the hotel in Barcelona to the boat from Disney- I didn't want to worry about that on top of everything else.
I'm already nervous since Ive just read some of the posts from the live thread about the the chaos in the airport in Barcelona:scared1: :scared1:

chaos in the airport at barcelona, that's a bit worrying! where did you find out about that

Here is a picture of a fish extender. We are using them on the EB Panama next summer. On that cruise each disboarder picks a day to deliver mail to everybody who has an extender.....like a piece of candy or a note or something from your hometown.

We were introduced to Fish Extenders on our 11day Southern Caribbean Wonder cruise. Each day we would find something neat and surprising in it!
It is great fun. Dollar stores are good places to find them. You can customize them with Disney stickers and patches. Some even embroidered them!

looking forward to hearing from anyone,

:welcome: Crawford Family! Glad your aboard and glad you are posting. It makes for a better cruise when one posts! When you get a chance have your girls check out the tween thread. Its a bit slow right now but on our side of the 'pond' most are getting ready to take their finals and therefore are otherwise engaged. But I have feeling it will pick up soon!

Thank you , I know this may of already been covered in previous posts but how are people getting from Barcelona airport to the ship , do Disney have any transfers that you know of ?

For our family, my TA decided to "give us" the gift of a limo/van pick up since we are not really drinkers. She usually gives her clients a gift but since we have used her so often to book Disney, been there and done that on gifts. So knowing how paranoid I was about getting to our hotel - she opted for this this time. Plus we get in on the 26th so we have a day to acclimate. For the portion of Paris, I went to Paris dot com and found a company that is called Paris Shuttle to pick us up. We were originally a party of 6 but due to some circumstance, we may be down to a party of 5.

I know that Disney offers transfers from 5 hotels. You might want to call them and find out which ones, at 1 time I checked the hotels, which I was told you could buy the transfers at the hotel but when I checked the hotels - they were all pretty much spread out from the center of town and we opted to stay close to Las Ramblas (center street in town).

Hope this helps.

Maybe others have different suggestions.

Oh no the chaos at the airport worries me too, we are arriving on the Saturday , there are 7 people in our party we are arriving from three differant airports at times ranging from 11.00 am to 16.00pm , thought the first two people to arrive would go to port and check in then go back ashore to meet the people arriving at 16.00pm , I get stressed thinking about that day, so worried someone will miss the flight .

This from the other thread that just got off from the transatlantic trip. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1064911&page=609
I have also read a couple of blogs that say pretty much the same, except for one that said the airport was great:confused3 :confused3

Jason and I had literally the MOST AWFUL RETURN TRIP.....seriously we've never had such a bad experience travelling...it almost makes me never want to get on a plane again! First of all....the Barcelona airport is a NIGHTMARE!!!! (So all you folks who've been lurking on this thread as you prepare for Med cruises or the August Repo.....TAKE HEED.....BCN airport is really poorly organized and crowded and confusing.....make sure you allot PLENTY of time before your flights!). We were supposed to fly from BCN to Dublin then on to Chicago then on to Orlando. Our flight out of BCN was an hour late....AND the computer system at BCN is not able to print you boarding passes for every leg of your trip....only the first leg....so we landed in Dublin with no boarding passes for the next leg of our trip but less than an HOUR layover....luckily the airline recognized the issue and actually shuffled a whole group of us through the back way in the airport so we wouldn't miss our connecting flight....so we got on board the flight took our seats and were informed that the entire traffic control communication system over the northern Atlantic was out of commission and we'd have to wait to take off....so we sat in the plane....for OVER 2 hours....only to have them then announce that the problem was unresolved so we were going to take a different, and less direct, route....so rather than flying across the Atlantic we flew up over Scotland, then over Iceland and Greenland and then over and down through Canada.....which took forever....and we missed our connecting flight to Orlando....which apparently was the last flight out tonight so they booked us in a hotel and rebooked us for a 7am flight tomorrow.....only the hotel they sent us to first wouldn't accept the airline vouchers so they had to move us to a DIFFERENT hotel....only the shuttle that was supposed to come get us took over an hour to get here...and by this time our body clocks were still on Barcelona time and it was past midnight in our minds so we just broke down and took a cab to this hotel.....this GROSS hotel....and I think I'd rather sleep in the laundry room on the Magic!!! AAARGHH! What a crappy trip! OK....off to bed now to get up in a few more hours for an early morning flight to WDW to try to salvage a magical weekend!

Have fun if you're still on the boat....and safe travels and well wishes if you're home or on your way home!

I'm feeling quite worried now, we only booked the cruise last week and with all the excitement rushed in and booked our flights without really thinking it through. Our flight gets in at 1600 on the 28th so if there are any delays we could be stranded

More worried about arriving at Barcelona airport, will be worried about missing the ship , not so bothered about arriving home late I would only be missing a day of work and I can cope with that.

I love this idea, my daughter has already started decorating ours, and she posted on the teen/tween thread for the kids to make them so they can leave notes and "goodies" for each other. I am collecting things from the dollar stores. she picked up some pretty shells at the beach yeterday- little things:) :) :grouphug:
