I wonder if you will be able to use these on Alaska..

Edit: I guess not.

"Know that even at the end of those 18 months, both the Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines brands will remain."

Historically, when I booked Hawaiian Airlines flights for August trips and monitored the prices, December and February were the most expensive months to book the flights, while November, January, and March were cheaper.

We noticed that the last few years as well, thank you for validating. I do wonder if Portland in particular is going to get it worse than most other cities because Hawaiian and Alaska were the only direct flight options we had to begin with.

It seems like they jacked up our rates to try and make it more affordable to connect through Seattle. I am getting really frustrated with the way Alaska is running their business. First MCO for March and now HNL for June….

Hopefully it changes back to being better and this is a fluke. Alaska agreed not to devalue points after the merger but maybe they are making up for by increasing flight costs.

I know many of you fly to Hawaii on Alaska. They have a new credit card coming out and if you join the waitlist you get 500 miles free, you don’t have to apply when it’s launched to get the free miles. From what I read it should be a great card though.

So they are moving away from BoA?

NM, found this: https://onemileatatime.com/news/alaska-airlines-premium-credit-card/

As Chase has been devaluing the Sapphire Preferred…. maybe this would be a better way to go….

How have they devalued the CSP?

I thought the added value when you receive $10 door dash groceries per month essentially paying for the card as opposed to the instacart that was only good for 6 months.

Is it something with Transfer partners?

I am so frustrated with that card, but it probably has to do with my specific markets.

1) The only place you could use the priority pass to get food credit in Portland doesn’t apply anymore.

2) You can’t transfer points to Alaska for flights. Alaska is the main game in town for Portland.

3) The cost to book flights/hotels through Chase Rewards is SIGNIFICANTLY high than just booking direct with the airline/hotelier.

4) There are no lounges at any of the airports I use.

I really don’t see myself keeping it when it renews in Feb given the annual fee.

You must be talking about the reserve then if you get lounge access.

I agree that $550 fee is steep and unfortunately Chase seems to take all of the food options away from PP not just Portland.

The main reason I have kept the CSR is for the primary rental car coverage but now that both myself and P2 have a venture X and that provides close to the same level of Primary coverage I might be downgrading this card as well.

Alaska just pulled all direct flights from PDX on the days we were tracking….. it’s all Hawaiian now…. which may mean no companion fare…..
Ooof that’s not good. Especially since Hawaiian offers companion fares with their card but their card will soon go away.
