I knew I was a Disney-holic when...

I went a few times as a kid then it took me 20 years to get back. This past February, when I saw that magic in my son's eyes......that's when I knew I had turned over to the dark side. Now I am obsessed!

Question of the day.... Ok less of a question and more for fun. Fill in the blank.

I knew I was a Disney-holic when...

OK, my first time at WDW was in 1985 when I was 8 years old. Then, my parents brought us back in 1989 when I was 12. I also went there twice in high school with the chorus (All American Music Festival), in 1992 at age 15 and in 1994 at age 17. Then, I didn't go back until I had my own family and we went on our first trip together in 2008 when I was 31.

So, I knew I was a Disney-holic when I went back in 2008 and fell in love with WDW all over again, but from an adult persepctive. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as an adult, until I started the trip planning for that one (and discovered the DIS!), and I became an obsessive planner.

A few signs of me being a Disney-holic:
1. I have to stop myself from referring to restaurant reservations here at home as "ADRs".
2. Sometimes I have the urge to refer to my husband as "DH" in normal conversation.
3. I really miss Mickey ice cream bars when I am not at WDW and I look in the grocer's freezer every time I go food shopping just *in case* they start selling them at supermarkets...VERY obsessive, I know!
4. I keep searching every now and then for places in NYC (my hometown) to see if they sell Dole Whip anywhere.
5. I found Dole Whips at Dutch Wonderland in PA and when we were there last October, I ate one...even though it was FREEZING outside...and I enjoyed every last bite! ;)
6. I look at DVC point charts "just for fun" to see where and for how long our points would allow us to go on future trips (even though we absolutely love our home, BWV).
7. I sometimes make Disney recipes at home.
8. I am always looking at park hours to see how I would plan my trip if I was there...just for fun.
9. I talk about WDW all the time!!!! So much that others frequently ask me for Disney advice...my family makes fun of me but then they thank me for being so obsessive with the planning that we don't wait on any super long lines and we have a very enjoyable time! :thumbsup2

And I'm sure there are tons of other things about me that make me a Disney-holic. I am just as bad with cruises, by the way. I know all the deck plans, menus and ship facts before I go! :rotfl:

Oh my how do I answer this one!!! Well my first trip to Disneyland was in the late 60's when my parents took our family on a vaca! OH was I hooked at that time. Then in 1976 or 1977 I cannot remember for sure my parents took me to Disneyworld where we stayed at Ft. Wilderness! Then went back to Ft Wilderness in the 80s with my own children (the older two)! I have been hooked I believe it is my genes as my father is a disalcolic as well!
Anyway my son and I both believe we really knew when we felt like we could actually be "tour guides and maps" for people searching for things while at WDW... Whew I give up I just plain LOVE WDW!!!!

Might have to hit you up for cruise advice for next year... Never been on a cruise before. Hope it's fun!

Question of the day...

Do you plan each day at Disney or kind of wing it?

We pretty much plan each day ahead of time. There is some room for change, but each day we already havea particular park chosen with our ADRs.

We are getting there. Four more days. We leave super early Monday morning for our flight. We have to be up at 4:00 am. Ugh! Not going to enjoy that but then we will be at Disney earlier in the day so I can't really complain. Still have to get my pedicure, finishing packing, get the kids carry-ons together and do the scavenger hunt to surprise the kids with Disney. It's going to be a very busy few days.:yay::dance3::cool1:

Can't wait to hear how the scavenger hunt goes! I bet you all will have so much fun with it!! Nothing so much fun as surprising your children!

As for planning or winging each day.. Ours is a mixture of both now that Tyler is older. We have some ADR's and stick to those as a basic framework, but leave open some flexibility.

DD and I create an agenda and stick with it 99% of the time. :cool1:

We plan a little bit, but not a ton. Like we know which park we are going to on which day and usually have one ADR that day. But we are flexible and sometimes change that too. We are pretty lax with planning but that's just how we like to vacation. There are certainly things we know we really want to do and we always make sure we get those in.:thumbsup2

Question of the day...

Do you plan each day at Disney or kind of wing it?

We plan which parks we are going to, and pool time, etc...usually around ADR's, so it has to remain somewhat firm.

I'm not a "wing it" type person in everyday life, so "winging it" at Disney just wouldn't work for me!

Question of the day...

Do you plan each day at Disney or kind of wing it?

We plan almost every day, but we do leave one break day open to wing it. The only thing we really plan that day is our ADR.

We begin our drive down TONIGHT!

I woke up at 6:30 AM..needless to say, I'm going to be a little tired on the drive down...I was too excited to sleep!:yay:
