AKV Condo Meeting Discussion

I was hoping they would have added some sort of pantry in the kitchen. I always end up having our dry goods on top of the fridge or wherever I can fit them on the counter tops. Otherwise, I'm extremely happy with the refurb!

The thing i found is that one person's issue is another thing someone likes so there's no pleasing everyone.

For example at the AKV meeting someone mentioned wanting access to the property when not staying there, but at BLT someone wanted only people staying there to be able to access the resort because she can never find parking, so there's really no right way to do things to please everyone
True, and I understand both perspectives. I hadn't heard that you can't shop gift shops if not staying at a property... I always see tons of people at shops and in lobbies remark about not actually staying there.

Believe the issue was parking

We just ate at the Mara to see if the complaint was true, the food was delicious, my favorite Flatbread and chicken strips qs on property so far. AKL has unique/more exotic food items like the chicken strips are BBQ jerk and the Flatbread was a really good tomato roasted one, if people want basic food this is not the hotel.

I def feel that saying it was consistently bad was completely ridiculous, not sure what people are expecting but we will def eat here again
They do have African-inspired dishes, and I enjoy 1-2 of them, but would love if they expanded a bit with some Ugali/Sadza dishes at least seasonally.

Although I love the color of the new sofa-that red is so perfect, it looks a little uncomfortable to me-like you sit up straighter than other sofas. I hope it just looks that way, and really is fine. Much as I love the color, it's not worth it if it's not comfortable!

That BLT lady is not going to be happy 😆 they are opening up the lounge at the top of BLT to all members (blue card) and no longer requiring a resort stay. As a local, I’m thrilled. 🤷🏼‍♀️ you win some, you lose some. 😆 they are also going to begin taking reservations for fireworks viewing on the deck. Huge win! Absolutely perfect for out of town guests that don’t have a park pass. You get to park two hours ahead of your reservation, enough time for a quick serve meal or a drink in the bar, then pop up to your reserved spot for the show. 💥

Just to clarify for others, you only get access (ETA: to parking) ifyou have a reservation for the longe. Either for Wicked Wind Down or for the Complimentary Fireworks Viewing.

They make it clear that if you don’t have one of those, you must use Disney transportation.

And, even the complimentary viewing requires a Cc guarantee so if you no show, it’s $10 per person charge.

So no walk ups for the lounge?

Yes! You can walk up but you don’t get parking at BLT. The change is that you no longer need a resort stay. You can come from off property. Having a place to park that isn’t the TTC, and having a dedicated viewing spot definitely makes it worth it to drive over there. The local alternative has always been the beach at Poly because of the path to the TTC and the audio is piped in.

The murphy beds in all the resorts are fundamentally the same. The sofa is not very comfortable, but the bed is much better than a sofa bed.
