I'm having a hard time getting no buys this month! Today we got groceries and tomorrow my team is ordering lunch. We only get to do that about every 6 to 8 weeks, and I hate packing my lunch each day, so this is not worth skipping! :)

Just holding the couch down today! I do have outpatient surgery scheduled tomorrow morning, however, and I'm not sure if I pay another co-pay when I arrive or not? Or if they just send me that awful bill later. :sad2:

Well, the week is over though I didn't technically start this budget until Tuesday. 2 No Buy days this week!! Not bad. Everyone goes back to school tomorrow and husband starts his new job (paid co-op placement for his degree program!). I will miss the holiday season very much, but will NOT miss all the spending that's associated with it. I predict this can be a very frugal and laid back month if I stick with the plan. This thread is helping immensely!!!

Jan 1 $0
Jan 2 $20 ($3 for husband's BP meds, 14 for groceries, and 3 for goggles so I can swim at the gym my husband's work gave us a membership to for Christmas)
Jan 3 $9 on DH lunch out. And that was a nice thought... I tried to tell DH it would be fun to see how many days we could go without buying anything... He said he would do it to save $$ but it won't be fun. Anyhow, he requested I pick up some lunchmeat from the grocery store so he could make his lunch, I got that plus milk and some chicken I needed and took our total spending for the day up to $30...
Jan 4 It is 1:45 and I think it will be a no spend day for us. DH is using a living social coupon he got for Christmas for lunch (which only makes me slightly upset that he made me go to the store last night for lunch meat) and dinner is already planned and we have all the ingredients on hand.
January 5 $40, A friend's mother passed away. So I decided to bring her some foods for their family who was coming into town to stay with them. I spent $35 on lunchmeats and cheeses. And I baked rolls, chocolate chip cookies, and scones.
January 6 $6 on Target clearance, 2 pairs of pants and a pair of sandals for my dd, and $3.60 for dinner out with a gift card we received for a gift
January 7 Big grocery shop, spent $60, got many pantry staples we were out of, and received a coupon for $10 off my next grocery trip. Also went to the hardware store for a few things I needed for a church project (reimbursable), and also picked up a new GFI outlet because we blew one out last week, and then decided to get a CO detector, I did get a 10% off purchase coupon that I used ($45 spent at hardware store)
January 8 $0

I am kind of excited for tomorrow. I have to go get milk, but will probably use that $10 coupon I got from Saturday. And I also get to go to Target and buy Disney gift cards. I have a 5% off coupon that I will use in addition to my Target debit card. Hoping to get quite a few!

Here are my totals for the week:

1/1--Meijer--$12.14, Walgreens--$.79, and Dollar Tree--$2.14--this was most of my grocery shopping for the week, so pretty good!
1/2--$0
1/3--$0
1/4--$0

1/6--$1.87 at Walgreens
1/7--$8 for pizza with friends

1/8 was supposed to be a no buy day, but daughter spent night with grandparents in atlanta and when I picked her up I also stopped at Whole Foods(which is an hour drive) to pick up milk and ground beef on sale for $2.69 a pound. Got 7-8 pounds. So I now have spent half grocery budget but have meat for 3 and a half weeks since we only eat meat 4 times a week and I hit publix for a chicken sale last week. so another $68.00 out of the grocery budget. Also saved on milk and juice boxes and some organic fruit at Whole foods, only bought in season deals. I love whole foods and did great on not buying Wants vs. needs. I wanted to spend $20.00 on bread cheese and olives. Also good that I was there on a sunday when the beer and wine section is closed. I love there wine selection but it would have probably added $20.00.
1/9 Determined to be a no buy day. Home for day except for YMCA

2/20 no buy
$253.00/$525.00 groceries
$102.00 of $150.00 eating out

Survivied the weekend. Ended up at target but didn't buy anything! Need gas and a few things today but determined to stick to a list

Goals: NO unnecessary spending, NO meals out, NO purchased entertainment other than redbox rentals from allowance. Keep groceries as low as possible.

DH and I took turns being sick so we spent on meds and kleenix. Car with needed a repair. Toilet paper holder broke and was replaced. All these are "necessary" in my book.

Spent $53 on groceries first week.

Only one unnecessary spend so far: a Santa Suit sleeper at Target at 90% off: $2.

:cool1:

Here is my goal for January:
Family of 3 with 1 dog. And several drop ins at any given time.

Groceries/household- $200/148.00 (eating out of the freezer this month) But, still need to stock up on a few things like soups. We went thru so much during the freak storm in Oct. Lost power for 11 days.
Car/Gas- $200/$155.00Eating Out- $150/Left (forgot DSIS B'day dinner)
Entertainment/Misc- $200/Left(raised due to DD's 2 plays and 2 B'days

Goal of 6/15 No Buy Days

01/01-0-:cheer2:
01/02-0-:cheer2: Calling it now. Brought my breakfast and lunch to work today. Not stopping for breakfast on my way to work 3 mornings is going to be a big deal for me. And going right home from work.[/QUOTE]
01/03-0-:cheer2: Spent the day with great friends going over our dinning ressies and what shirts we are planning on making for our up coming April trip to the World. 3 families, with 11 people. :cool1:
01/04-0-:cheer2: Brought lunch and breakfast to work. My DH said our local BK is going to go banckupt without me. lol
01/05 :cheer2: Calling it now. On Thursdays my work day is 2-7pm.. And by 7 it will be to cold to go anywhere but home. And usually Thursdays is my morning to hit the local stores shopping, Target by my house, and Walmart by my office. And that will lead into buying lunch out at Subway or BK both by the office. Today I stayed home putting Christmas stuff away and continued to reorginize my basement, washed all the bed linens and respace bagged all that we don't use. Seems like Storm Alfred threw our house in a tizzy that we just couldn't recover from. Bed linens were just folded and put every where downstairs. (we had extra guests during the storm. It was one big slumber party).
01/06 Today was a spend day. $45.00 in gas for the van, Target $5.00 (before coupons $16.48). Costco $30.00. Went to potluck dinner at our Disney friends. Got to discuss our trip again!!!! yah us!!
01/07 Costco $17.00 for my Dsis birthday cake.
01/08 -0- Going home from work early and staying in for the night.
