Wait...you're actually lining up for this offer??? We were making fun of it saying it's a somewhat bad proposition. Are you a credit card churner? Welcome to our thread...we could get you a lot more than 26,000 United Miles without paying a fee (just from your normal spending)

Thank you for the welcome! Even a cursory review of the thread demonstrates that there are better propositions out there :). The prospect of United Miles at less that $0.007 a mile, however, sounded like a proposition worth examining. I do not claim to be a churner; merely an observer of the knowledge demonstrated by experts such as SouthFayetteFan, Lain, and calypso726. I wish everyone luck with their future churning plans.

Sorry to keep asking stupid questions but I tried to send an email last night from my CIP to DH to use to apply for his CIP but he still hasn't received the email with the support link. Is there another way to get this? I think so but I can't remember how to do it.
I did it over text message.

Don't use the email method to share a support link; it can take a week to arrive, if ever. Go to the Chase "Support"-A-Friend site; log in with your last name, zip, and last 4-digits of your CIP; copy the link that's there and paste it somewhere, email it to yourself/DH, whatever. Then use that link to apply for DH. If you're paranoid, you can clear your history/cookies/cache, go incognito, or use a different browser to apply.

The emails can take a week or more to arrive
https://www.chase.com/referafriend/catch-all....put your card info here...then copy and paste the link

Thank you! I knew that email was not the preferred method but I could not remember how to do it. Oh well. I bookmarked the site so next time I won't be searching my online account while racking my brain, LOL. Anyway, DH just applied. I have my fingers crossed.

So Barclay's again (spelled it correctly there for you Lain). The status check says that I have no pending applications over the past 90 days. I applied. Believe me. I'm so confused. Also, how many days should DH wait from a CIP denial (and is that from application date?) to try again?

I have questions regarding using the Chase UR travel site. First, how do you account for the CSR 1.5 effect? Say I have 100,000 UR and I book a a 10K room for 8 nights, so I need 80K points total to book. Will they only take 53,333 points from my account? Also, if I need to cancel it and re-book different dates, or a different hotel, how long before the points are returned to my account?

I am bumping this to see if anyone knows the answer.

Amex update-I commented on an Amex fb thread about my situation and immediately received a response Fromm amex customer service to call. I did and a great customer service rep looked into it and brought his supervisor on the line. They were able to see that I was not fabricating the promo story. The supervisor could tell that I had received the upgrade email from Amex, and she took notes of how I upgraded (through the Amex offers portal). She gave me her name and ID# and is issuing me the 150,000 points. What a relief! I don’t know why that was bothering me so much, but after the first rep told me that the offer didn’t even exist, I felt so frustrated!

I’m glad it worked out because I’ve been enjoying HHonors diamond status. We’re in STL for the Cardinals game and it’s a rain delay. We checked in at Hilton at the Ballpark (on a free certificate from my Amex card) at 2 and our room was ready. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have asked sooner for an upgrade. I didn't realize she was already making the keys. Regardless, we have a nice room and we enjoyed executive lounge snacks and drinks.

Yes, just buy a AA gift card and the statement credit will cover it. You can keep the gc or sell it.

The 40k offer is better if you’re willing to take the chance on getting the match. What everyone has been doing is doing the 40k offer, then asking for a match to 60k pts via chat. It’s not guaranteed, but most people have been successful in getting the extra 20k pts. So if you get the match, then it’s definitley a better offer as you’ll get 60k pts and a $250 AA gift card for a much lower MSR than the 70k pt offer.

Oh, and I don’t think you get the card number immediately for the 70k pt offer, if that factors in to your decision.

Very helpful! Thank you!

When you go from the Chase site to Ultimate Rewards, you choose which card account you want to use. When you choose the CSR, it is automatically showing you the 1.5x rates when you do your search.

Sorry..missed your first post.....when you log onto the chase travel site from your CSR to book a room etc it shows you the number of points needed with the 1.5 factored in

Thank you! So it would look different if I logged in using my CIP instead of CSR. That makes sense. I knew someone would know the answer. The board moves so fast, its easy to miss stuff, lol.

SO, if I have to change my reservation, how soon will they return my UR so I can re-book? Is it instantly?

I got two e-mails today that I had a new SM from Chase. I checked both of my accounts and it says "We recently sent you an important email message that was returned to us because the email address we have on file for you isn't working."

What? I just got two e-mails that you sent me an SM telling me my e-mail isn't working? IDK, Maybe I will just add a secondary e-mail to my accounts. Curious what the message was...
They are just wacky sometimes. I get snail mail letters that they were unable to send my statement by email, it was undeliverable. Same email I have for 7 chase cards we have. :confused3

When I've canceled refundable reservations, the points have been returned instantly. Never longer than 5 minutes.
