Received an offer today on my IHG card for 5x points on Internet, Cable/TV, Phone, Utilities and Insurance purchases.

"Earn a total of 5X bonus points on up to $2,000 in purchases when you pay select bills with your IHG Rewards Club Credit Card from Chase between April 1 and June 30, 20191."

You have to activate the offer first. Hopefully they have other fun stuff planned for better cards

I want to try to churn the Arrival+. I closed mine last week. I know common knowledge is 6 months between closing and trying again, but I'm curious if that's a rule or just a safe amount of time. There's a single DP in the comments in DoC of someone who only waited 8 days. Anyone can say anything online, but if that's true it would seem as long as you can get through Barclays approval you can churn them much faster.

I know I'm likely to be denied because of my inquiries and new accounts - I'm way over 6/24 - but they approved me for the previously closed Arrival+ at 16/24 if I remember correctly. I've taken advantage of spend bonuses on the Wyndham card every time they come around (about once every 3-4 months), and our monthly wireless charge is recurring on my Uber card, so all things considered I'm in as good of a position as I can be.

Good luck! This reminds me that I should cancel whatever no-fee card I downgraded my Arrival+ to a few months ago. I also have the Barclay's no-fee AA card (also downgraded from something that I can't recall right now). Should I go ahead and cancel that one too? It has gotten almost no spend, so my thinking is that it's better to have no current Barclay cards, if I ever wanted to try for a second Arrival+, then to have a card that gets no spend. Any reason I should keep it open?

Okay, don't laugh at me but I only have 1 credit card that I have had for probably 10 years (and I swear I'm not like 80 or anything like that). Anyhow, I have finally given in to DHs request to fly to FL next year. Today I plan to apply for the Chase Southwest card. I just want to make sure that when I get the 40,000 after I spend $1000 in the first 3 months that I can then use those points to book flights for me plus a few of my kids. DH has the card already and probably has enough on his card to cover 2 flights so I'm hoping to cover the other 3.

People who have one credit card are like people who have never read Harry Potter -- you have so much fun ahead of you!

Been MIA again...was trying to pull off a Spring Break and couldn't. So instead it's a staycation and doing things around the house. Not having a spend right now feels weird so I went for the Barclay Biz again this morning and was sent into "review" just like I was back in the fall. I've added cards since then, but I was hoping maybe I'll get lucky.

Now I'm on hold w/ Amex. They are telling me the "5 rule" is per type. So I can have 5 biz and 5 personal. If that's the case, I'm golden on adding the Delta Biz Gold. If not, I'm cancelling that one and going for the biz gold off my self referral.

This is a tough one. Barclays will not approve you for another card in the same family if you have the no-fee version.

I presume your no-fee AA was downgraded from the AAviator Red. The thing is, Barclays is definitely easier when you're an existing customer, but they're not going to like no spend at all. If it were me, I think I would close one, put some spend on the other, wait 30 days, and apply for whichever one equivalent to what you closed. You can decide which one you want more. Both cards are at all-time highs right now, with the Arrival+ at 70k/waived AF and the AAviator Red at 60k/$95. If it were me, I would close the no-fee Arrival first, and hope that 70k offer is still around. The 60k AAviator Red comes and goes a couple times per year. We have never seen a 70k Arrival+ offer. We had also never seen a 60k Arrival+ offer either. Who knows what's happening with that card/offer in the future.

And for those wondering, the FOUR agents I talked to were full of **** and I was put into review and had to call to get my personal card cancelled to get the Delta Gold Biz. UGH.

Thanks for the insights. The Arrival+ is a more valuable card to me, given the other avenues for earning AA miles. And I think you are correct that I had the AAviator Red. I've been holding off on new personal cards because I will be under 5/24 in May, but I have several more cards that will fall off in June.

Just got a GE interview at 11am next Tuesday! So that means a half day or full day off of work, but I thought I could knock some other appointments out... I decided I want to get my eye exam done a bit early so I can finally order a new pair of glasses that I've been putting off for years anyways, and really putting off since September. Mine are cheap/basic and from 2014. They are okay because my vision doesn't change much, but they are not good for say, if your eyes are driving you crazy and you end up wearing them over contacts for 75% of your vacation (I'm looking at you, anniversary trip!). So I've come to terms spending a bit more for a decent pair (with anti reflective coating, etc that kind of stuff) since I'll be able to wear them for years. Plus, Hello AMEX MSR, have you met Target Optical? Though of course when I went to look, my Target optical does not do appointments on Tuesdays :badpc:

Interesting DP- I just placed an online order for gift cards with Staples - used my CIC and a RMN deal, so hopefully will get $10 back and 5x URs. When I first placed the order, I forgot to go through RMN, so I cancelled and reordered. I just got a call from customer service verifying the transaction and asking if anyone had asked me to buy the cards for them. They said they have seen fraudulent transactions with people being taken advantage of, so they are checking on transactions - it was only $125 in total, seems like a lot of work to have CS people verifying transactions! Anyway, it was interesting. I'm glad I picked up the call!

I went to a couple of Staples over the weekend for the fee free promo. One place insisted I could only buy one, and as soon as the (rude) manager heard me ask about them, he came over and asked to see the card I was going to use and my ID before allowing the cashier to ring me up. I asked what his problem was, and she said they are protecting against people using stolen credit cards to purchase the fee free cards. I left with my one card and then went to the other Staples in town and bought $1000 worth, lol.

A couple nice DP's to report . . .

#1 - Success with the Southwest personal 50k link. Just received the 50k miles after 2K spend for DH. That was a relief to see since I hated hated hated applying without a landing page.

#2 - I just applied for a CIP for DH and was approved (his old CIP was over 24 months old and had been downgraded in January). This is his 6th Chase business card, and I was holding my breath. I previously reduced credit limits to put him at about 30% of income. I also waited 30 days after his last application, which was on 4/2. We have some travel charges coming up, and I really wanted to have the CIP in hand to earn the 3x on MSR. Otherwise I would have waited another month or two. I know we were pushing it velocity wise . . . 11/18 Ink Unlimited, 1/1 Ink Cash, 3/1 SW Biz, 3/2 SW personal. @SouthFayetteFan - figured you'd be interested in this one.
