I don't want to get my hopes up....

I'm asking all you DVC vets if this is possible. We finally joined DVC when we were at WDW in March I stated I want to check out our "home" before we go to VB (which is what DH wants to do next year). Well, today, DH tells me that since our summer trip plans fell through (long story, won't bore you!), we could use the money to go check out home!!!! We would be going 8/9 - 8/12. I've dealt with a lot of disappointments since we came back from WDW, so I don't want to get my hopes up. Do you think it will be possible for us to get a room on this short of notice? We'll gladly "settle" (yea, it'll be tough) for a studio, or a 1 bedroom. I think DH will try to call tomorrow while he's at work (it's easier for him, he's a boss!), but I don't want to get my hopes up. Have any of you made last minute plans like this?

We booked our June trip just 10 days or so ago, so I think you'll have a great chance. Will you be staying on cash or points? Are you flexible about resort choice? OKW often has availability since it is so large. You might also check out the rent/trade board to see if anyone has a reservation they are not needing. In any event, good luck! Let us know tomorrow after your make your call.

I booked my July trip 2 weeks ago at OKW 1 BR. MS said there was a lot of availability. Good luck!! Le t us know what happens!!

I think you should be able to get something, August starts to quiet down a bit. You should also consider booking whatever resort you can get into and waitlisting for the full stay of your actual home.

Last year I booked my BWV trip for the end of July/beginning of August about 43 days out. MS had plenty of availability at BWV, OKW and weekdays at BCV. I didn't inquire about VWL at the time. Good luck and enjoy your trip HOME

I can get my hopes up!! We're IN!!! Just got off the phone with DH, who just got off the phone with DVC, and we're getting what we hoped for (1BR) at our home, SSR, for three nights (8/9 -DH's Birthday, gotta come up with something GREAT to 8/12!). This is the first time we're not waiting two years between trips! I can't wait to tell our girls (it will take a lot of our disappointment away!!).
