My DS, age 4 and I just returned from a short stay at OKW studio. We arrived very late Sat. night and got to our room around 12:15am - before the clocks changed.
My DS used the bathroom - walked out - closed the door and inadvertantly locked it! I called maintenance - the phone rang about 10 times before someone in housekeeping picked up. I told her my dilemma and she said she would get someone over. About 10 minutes later she called back and said that no one can help me for another hour and a half! They were between maintenance shifts, but as soon as she said that she took it back and stated something should be done sooner.
All I needed was something thin to put in the lock to push the button out. I tried the tong of a plastic fork (too big), the stylus from my Palm Pilot (too big) finally called my husband who brilliantly suggested to take the ink pen they provide in the room and pull out the pen part from the casing. The plastic tube fit perfectly and voila one opened door!
At that moment the front desk called back to say they would have to switch my room as no one was available to unlock the door! I told them my story, which I found rather comical - but at that time of night they didn't.
So for those of you who have small children or just make a dumb mistake - happens to all of us - remember there are more uses to the "free" pen than you thought!
Just don't leave the pen in the bathroom!
