How to contact Disney about prospective employee

Couple thoughts:
1. The idea that Disney or any other company is capable of weeding out bad apples is laughable. Companies miss inappropriate misconduct all the time. I believe a few Disney employees have been fired just recently for inappropriate actions. It happens with all companies. They can't possibly catch everything.

2. If I thought anyone (friend, stranger, Dis member, family member) was into porn with minors and I had proof, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to report them to the police.

3. It is odd to me that your concern is that they might work at Disney. Child porn is child porn. I don't want people into that kind of thing walking the streets, period. I don't want them working at Disney or a gas station. If they are into child porn, they are scum who should be in jail. Where they work is irrelevant.

4. I'm trying to imagine what type of message board this is! If people are openly talking about drugs and keeping pictures of underage kids doing inappropriate things as their profile picture, maybe this is to be expected on that site? If someone did that here, they'd be banned and before they were banned, a hundred different Dis sleuths would have a gps location on them along with their entire internet history. Maybe they've only crossed the line for you because they are going to work at Disney?

I recently encountered someone on social media who claims to be a prospective Disney employee, scheduled to start in February. I'm normally the "live & let live" type, but the content this person is posting (illegal drug use, pornography with what appears to be a group of teenagers, talk about a "diaper fetish") would leave me feeling very uncomfortable if I didn't alert someone who might at least take a look & make sure that this person is someone they really want working around children & families.

If anyone could let me know what to do, I'd really appreciate some advice. I've found email addresses online but have no way of knowing which ones are "live" & which ones lead to the circular file.

I am sure a large company like Disney is more than capable of insuring they hire people that don't take part in illegal drug use. Let them worry about their business and you worry about yours. Besides if you were so concerned I would think you'd want to call the police not Disney about a person's illegal drug use.

Please be careful, as you may damage someone and it may not even be them. I would leave it alone. If it is going on it will be found out.

It's fairly easy to figure out how to report them to the police. Disney is another matter. If they were planning to work at a Hilton hotel, I'd be on their website, but as these are the Disboards, here I am.

Also, it's Twitter, not a message board.

I've received a message with the information I need. Thank you, everyone, for your input. :)

My first question to you is why are YOU on a social media site that has posts about teen porn, drugs and fetishes, lol?! I'd probably question my own interest in such things before I go worry about others.

Twitter, not a message board.

You're going to find this type of thing on most any social media site... Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc. These websites are not moderated as quickly or strictly as these boards.

I would report it to twitter and then past that the police. Once again if you are so worried about them working at Disney, why aren't you worried about what they do in the regular life?

Also if you don't actually know this person in real life you could be ruining someone's life over a hacked or fake account. It is not unheard of for people to make a fake twitter and post vile things on it to internet harass people. Unless you actually know this person in real life you have no clue if any of it is true and it is better to get the authorities involved than it is to go to Disney directly.

I do agree, but I can't imagine how many online reports come in on a daily basis & how long it might take them to work their way through to mine. In the meantime, I'd hate for this person to start work & have an incident happen that could have been prevented.

Why not report it to Twitter if that's where you've seen the questionable material posted and you believe the authorities won't have the time or the interest to pursue it? That's the appropriate corporate format, not Disney. Twitter will indeed take action -- along with appropriately directing it to law enforcement if necessary.

You might want to consider carefully the correct action to take, as the wrong one leaves you open to a potential defamation lawsuit, with further potential of considerable civil damages liability if you wrongfully derail someone from rightfully pursuing their livelihood.

So law enforcement is likely too busy to pursue this and you think Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr do not act if they receive a report of material hosted on their sites, but you believe Disney is the appropriate venue to make this kind of report?

Twitter, Instagram, etc. have publicly and famously pulled material from celebrity posts such as Rihanna and others, despite knowing these celebs have thousands/millions of followers and drive traffic to their sites. You seriously believe they will not take action if they get a report that John Doe from podunk has posted illicit material?

You have misplaced concerns, IMO. If this person is a danger to other, including children, then you need to report it to the police, not Disney. I have no idea what this person is doing or saying that has you attempting to reach out to a prospective employer....any prospective employer...but this is not an appropriate action. I am an admin on a local open forum, and we have referred posts to our local PD when we were concerned about the behavior behind a posting. You are not qualified to investigate this person or to report what you perceive to be illegal activity to an employer, but you can hand it over to the agency that is qualified. Most police departments have officers who are trained to investigate crimes tha are discussed on social media.

Again, the police will determine if this person is breaking the law. They will address how this is to be handled. You are not qualified to do so.

My point is that anyone can post anything on the internet, and you trying to be the internet police is ridiculous. You have no idea who this person is, what they do, or how they live their life. You don't even know if it's a real person, much like I doubt you are since this sounds like such a troll post. My advice is to MYOB and quit reading Twitter if you are so compelled to do crazy crap like tracking down email addresses. That puts you in a weird creepy stalking category yourself! If you are a real person, you must be a joy to be around, lol.

OP, I have some information for you virtually from the horse's mouth as it were, meaning a local police detective who has participated in some sweeps with our area's joint task force that works on computer crimes. She tells me emphatically that law enforcement absolutely has both the capacity and the motivation to keep up with tips regarding these types of crimes. If you are unaware of how to go about locating the direct contact info for your local task force simply call your local police and they will either assist you themselves or direct you to your local computer crimes agency task force.

A couple of attorneys heard our discussion and one commented that this would be a pretty poor plan for attempting to get back at someone if they were ever to become aware of your actions.

I have a friend who has a stalker, and who makes up fake social media accounts in her name, posing as a prostitute. This has been awful for my friend (she has 3 children). She's filed police reports, but there isn't much they can do.

Are you absolutely sure this person is who he claims to be? I may run with a tame crowd, but no one on any of my feeds mentions fetishes, porn, or drug use.

No doubt they do get reports by the score. If time is of the essence, why waste time contacting Disney or a message board? Call the police.

People can pretty much post whatever they want on the internet and it may or may not be true. Do you really think my name is Lily? LMAO.

If you think there is a real concern, then you contact the police. If you contact Disney and only Disney, then you are simply allowing this person to get away with what could be illegal activity. What about the possible victims? It seems that it's more important to you to keep them away from Disney then it is to help those who may already be involved.

But be careful. If you make such claims and they are false, it could come back to haunt you.

I am truly curious why you think contacting a possible employer is the way to go if you are really concerned vs law enforcement. Contacting law enforcement says your concerned and contacting wdw seems petty. It also doesn't prevent the person from going to say universal and putting the same people at risk.

It's like you know someone is going to rob Target so you contact the store vs the police so now target is prepared but walmart gets robbed instead. I'd think you'd want to do the right thing for everyone if you truly believed this person was a threat.

OK I only "follow" people I don't know personally on Facebook & Instagram...a couple celebs...a bunch of lifestyle peeps( décor, clothes food)

I am just curious who you follow that would post this?
Is it friends of friends ?

To clarify, the police have already been contacted. I wanted to contact Disney as well.

I am not aware of any laws that would penalize someone for reporting something they truly believed to be inappropriate, so no fear there. :thumbsup2

I typed "Disney today" into the search box, hoping to find the account that posts the daily updates. (It's @WDWToday)

A post of hers came up "GOT MY OUTFIT FOR MY FIRST DAY AT DISNEY TODAY" with an accompanying image that was... interesting.

There are ABSOLUTELY laws against contacting employers with unsubstantiated information and you can be liable for loss of employment damages personally. Twitter posts would fall into unsubstantiated information. Not a single person (on what is a fairly conservative community) has thought it would be wise for you to contact Disney. I think that's a sign of just how bad your idea is
