How can I give you a Florida quiz...i've never been!!! 3-17th July 2010

If you really want to go on Kali River Rapids, I'd wear a poncho just to be safe. It's a 50/50 chance you'll get soaked, because like Emma said if you are in the seats that are facing backwards going down the drop you are doomed. :scared1:

Haha is that lopsided building where you're going to see the Magic show in? The touristy shops & buildings in Orlando are so fun to look at!

Okay, this is crazy, but put the poncho on upside down; legs in the arms. It will keep your but dry... (Yea, not something easy to pull off without looking even weirder than it sounds:laughing:) Instead, I plan on taking a change of clothes. I didn't ride Kali in Feb with DH and girls...I HATE walking around in soaked shorts.

Lol that's a cute water bottle holder!
It's a good idea if you don't mind carrying one around, as lots of water is so necessary in the heat! :cool2:
DF and I usually just stop at water fountains to keep hydrated :thumbsup2

About Kali river rapids.. it's not too wet... unless you are in the two seats that go down the first ramp backwards... there is a HUGE fountain of water shooting upwards (I think they use more water in the summer months!) and the two people sat in those seats will get soaked :scared1:
(btw I'm talking from experience! :rolleyes1)

But in comparison to the water rides at IoA - Kali isn't too bad.. on Dudley Doo Rights, Popeye and Jurassic Park at IoA last summer I got completely soaked and didn't dry out all day - even though it was 90 degrees +

Your trip is getting so close now!!

Emma princess: x

Hi Emma, i definitely think the water bottle holder's cute, i'm just nor sure i'd use it, will probably just top our bottle up at the fountains like you say and keep it in our backpack...my mum and nana have DBF warned to make me drink loads of liquids so he's on water boy duty...:cutie:

Thanks for the heads up on Kali...Think i might just wear the ponch, really wouldn't like to take the chance and be soaked all day! Know what you mean about the water rides at IofA it put a dent in our touring plan in '08 our clothes were literally drenched, our clothes were clinging and so uncomfortable we had to go back to the hotel and change! will be good this year being able to shower and change so close by and then head back into the parks!:)

Time is just flying, today was a 'tax'ing revision day!:rotfl:

hope you have a nice weekend!

Honestly, I'd wear a poncho on KRR, but that's just me. I hate walking around all wet.

Both FOTLK and Nemo are great shows. Be sure to allow enough time to get in line for them before the show actually starts.

I really hope you do the different trails. As you know from my March TR, it was our first time doing them that trip. They were so neat!

Oh gosh, all the Resorts you listed (AKL, Poly, WL) are so beautiful. Honestly, if you want to just spend a nice relaxing night, why not head over to the Poly. Look around there, then get some drinks and head out onto the beach and just enjoy the MK view. It's beautiful. :cloud9:

I agree, walking around wet is not on my to-do list! and i have got a very cute tinkerbell poncho to use!

thanks for the warning, i'll try and make sure we leave our selves plenty of time to sit down and relax before the show and just soak in the ambience :goodvibes

I loved your AK day so much, definitely inspired me to pay more attention to the trails, so thanks again!:thumbsup2

The Poly idea, drink on the beach watching the fireworks, think DBF would totally love that...he loved walking along the beach last year in Spain with bare feet on the sand in the moonlight, he's quite a romantic! i'm the grumpy in the relationship complaining about sand in my shoes, :rotfl2: but think that sounds like such a cool evening and nikki had suggested that on her trip report too!:lovestruc

Yep, the poncho is getting whipped out...i'll be the wimpy one!

Yep the building is called wonderworks and think its like a poorrman's disney quest, i've just gathered this from reviews i've read, so maybe thats a bit harssh! i think we'll just enjoy the dinner show and head home! I love Orlando scenery too, I always remember Ripley's as really standing out! although I get excited by things like Wendy's and Dairy Queen too! :yay: sad i know!

Thats a good idea! i'll already be the sissy on the ride with wearing the poncho so in for a penny in the pound might as well be the weird one in the raft too!:dance3: as long as my pants aren't wet all day i'll be happy so thanks for the tip!

I've been to Canada ten times because we stayed with relatives every other year, so crossed over at Niagra Falls into the states, then been to Kentucky for Irish Dancing (stop over in Atlanta airport) and my 21st birthday present from my parents was a trip to New York! and this will be my 6th trip to Florida, I would love to visit Las Vegas and California next!

I love that DBF knows things though, and is interested in knowledge, I love learning facts and new things and we can have in depth discussions, but i also like that he's good at sports and into outdoors things too! :rotfl: so how long will your crush be secret for, are you friends right now? popcorn::

Ok, definitely gonna go for the front seat now girl!

Oh fun!! I have never been to Canada but it looks so pretty!! Especially Niagra Falls. A Dis'er on here whose ptr I'm following just had a little mini-tr about the Falls. So pretty! What part of Kentucky did you go to?? I've always wanted to go there...I just love the "country" parts of the US!! New York sounds amazing!! I bet that was a GREAT 21st!!! I've always wanted to go there. I bet it is just breathtaking with all the sights and lights and what not! I actually have been to Vegas once...it's kinda boring when you're 14 like I was!! Still enjoyable...I just won't go back until I'm 21! I couldn't even STAND in some places before!! California is great too!!

Your DBF sounds like a great guy!! That's so awesome that he's smart and still athletic/outdoorsy!! :goodvibes Hopefully you'll be able to add "Disney fanatic" to his list of qualities!! The guy I have a secret crush on is actually my best friend's brother!! We are friends but I don't get to see him too much unless we are at her parents house (not too often since she has her own!). She has no idea I like him...I told her a while ago that I wanted to take ballroom dance classes and she volunteered him and we started those on Thursday!! It was so fun! We have those once a week for the rest of June and he was saying he wants to take more in July! :woohoo:

I'm so jealous of how many times you rode EE last time you were there!! That's awesome. Is it weird that I'm like the only person on your thread who doesn't mind too much walking in wet clothes? It's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it helps keep me cool in the hot sun!! You will have fun though...I've never went on Kali but I LOVE those kind of rides. Now I know to avoid the 2 seats that go down backwards first!

You are going to have so much fun on your AK day! It's a zoo and amusement park together-the best of both worlds!! :goodvibes

And YAY for being less than a month!!

And YAY for being less than a month!!

I was on your trip report this evening and read about the ballroom classes, i think this guy must really like you or he would not be up for taking any kind of dance classes never mind suggesting an extra month!:thumbsup2 so mayabe it won't have to be a secret crush foor much longer!

we stayed in Morehead Kentucky which was quiet enough, we were staying with families and they all lived in the middle of the forest and the nightliffe was zero and being from ireland this didn't go down too well! but we made friends with some guys in a band and they took us to the college bar and to parties at the frat house, we felt like we were out of American Pie, it was such a cool experience! we played games like flip cup and beer pong and learned all their fraternity songs, a bit silly but great fun! :lmao:

Vegas at 21 would definitely be an improvement on 14 i think! :rotfl:

Hey sweet girl!!!!

I say go to the Poly for a drink and watch the fireworks from a hammock!! Awwwww, I can't wait to stay there in February!!! If anybody needs to find me, just look for the girl holding the lapu lapu in the hammock!! :lmao:

Ok I had definitely intended not to do any shopping but my mum bought half of one tank top and surprised me with the other...;)

10393734274a12570527791l.jpg

she also kindly got me and DBF these for the plane...

10393734274a12570527811l.jpg

This was a necklace my sister had got two of and gave one to me, but not sure if it is good for Florida, might be a bit heavy/and or give me weird tan lines!
10393734274a12570527832l.jpg

And as for the world cup woe in the title, i'm being a bit melodramatic :rotfl: quandry is probably more suitable...

DBF calmyly asked

'Would it be possible to watch the World Cup Final on Sun 11th July at 2.30pm please if it possible to fit in?'

Did I reply
a) lucky for you we are in Disney's version of Africa that day so you will be able to feel the African ambience as if you were actually present at the World Cup but no... you will not be able to watch any football

b) the titanic, Daytona, Kennedy Space Centre and now the World Cup, I think thats one request too many! its not all about you, you know (:rotfl2: my mum would've killed me if i'd said this)

c) i'll do some investigating and we'll try to fit it in (insert fake smile)

So...as far as I can find...the only place showing the final in Disney is Wide World of Sports, the ESPN Venue is charging $20 each which includes a light lunch and watching the game 3D!

So will probably have to try and ring up and book in the next few days! unfortunately this will take a large chunk out of our AK Day ( we will prob have to leave about 1.45 and be back about 4.30) but hopefully will all fall into place not too bad! gulp! think i need some pixie dust :wizard:

here's a photo of me and my sisters ready for a gaelic match in an irish bar on international drive whilst the non-gaelic side of my family went to epcot...

Hello... I followed you over from Emma's PTR. I want to point out that in July.. you WILL get wet regardless of whether it is on kali or not. It will thunderstorm every afternoon. We were there in July last year and we made a big boo boo. When we arrived, our room wasn't ready, so we thought we'd just leave our stuff in the car, and head to the MK and when our room was ready, we'd come back and unpack. Well... huge mistake. We got to the MK and got in line for Tomorrowland Motorspeedway. As it was coming up on being our turn, the sky suddenly opened up and it started a little drizzle. Here comes our car... we get in.... boom.... rain like you wouldn't believe!! On that ride of course, you can't duck out. You must continue along the track! It was raining so hard I couldn't open my eyes. My clothes got soaked, my camera got soaked because I didn't have my park bag... just my "car" bag. My brand new navy blue slip on Keds got soaked. So by the time we met up with the rest of our party near Stitches Great Escape... my freshly colored hair had run on my white blouse. My brand new Navy tennies had bled blue on my feet, my camera was so wet it wouldn't ever work again. We didn't have ponchos. They were in the car. MIL went into a shop and bought some ponchos for themselves. We hadn't found them at that point. We finally found them in a shop. Oh, and not only did my freshly colored hair run... (a reddish color), my style was ruined. I will never ever head for the parks again without my proper supplies and a poncho. It rained just about every afternoon at 3:00pm.

Also... be aware that there will be lots of tour groups of students from Brazil and Argentina. They walk in groups with a chaperone and flag bearer. They sing, chant and shout.. mostly at the rival groups. It can be noisy, and its best to get in line BEFORE they do or you're sunk! I hear they come every July. We will be there this year in August. We will be taking my DS18 to college in Melbourne, right next to Kennedy Space Center. We'll be at the college for a couple days. Staying at the Hilton on the beach. Then we'll head to Disney with our 7 year old. oops... she will turn 8 in July... so she'll be 8 by then! princess:

Love your cute outfits!

 Those are adorable tanks! You are seriously going to be so stylish every day of your trip! :thumbsup2

Of course you said "c" because you are a good GF! :lmao: Ugh, that's annoying though. Doing all that planning and, thise close to the trip, throw that in there!? I would do it for DH, too, but I would freak about it for a while. I can't take when plans change. Once, on the way to pizza hut, DH asked if we should take the pizza home instead of eat there and I always drove off the road. Not because I didn't want to, but because that was NOT the PLAN! I don't deal with change well!

You'll get it all sorted out though. I can't believe you have to pay to watch it! Why is that? It's not broadcast on "regular" tv?

Your tanks are so cuuteee! :cutie:

Lol I am so excited for the world cup to start today! :yay: It is the final, so imo it's a must do! Hopefully your BF will agree to drop one of the other activities off the schedule in exchange for going to the ESPN Zone to watch it.

Hi!!! thanks for asking about the world cup for me that was so kind...i've had a mini solution to the dilemma in that my friend and her family are also at AK that day so her DH and DS might go with DBF! And the girls can stay in AK!:cool1:

OOOOH, your story about getting torrential rained on in MK, Not an ideal start to your holiday! I will definitely make sure to bring my poncho every day!

we went in aug 2008 and it rained nearly all day for our entire two weeks...we thought we were back in ireland with all that rain but they were on hurricane watch...we actually didn't mind too much we stuck on the ponchos and headed out to almost empty parks and minimal lines!

 Those are adorable tanks! You are seriously going to be so stylish every day of your trip! :thumbsup2

 Thanks! I'm looking forwARD to wearing all the new clothes, i was trying lots of stuff on last night trying to figure out matching shoes and stuff but they won't look as nice on as they do on the hangers, studying for exams has meant haven't been able to think about losing any weight and i really need to!

Of course you said "c" because you are a good GF! :lmao: Ugh, that's annoying though. Doing all that planning and, thise close to the trip, throw that in there!? :rotfl2: at the pizza hut story, thats totally like me! i love plans and lists! and totally don't understand why anyone would deviate from the pre discussed and pre arranged set in concrete plans!:rotfl: i'm gonna try and be a bit more chilled out on this holiday though and make sure we don't burnout by sticking to the itinerary no matter what...;)

my friend and her family are in AK that day and the boys might head to watch the match and the girls will stay and continue through the park and then we'll all meet p for our dinner at rainforest cafe...so although i did say c...i'm glad this new plan worked out!!!

Your tanks are so cuuteee! :cutie:

Thanks, my mum loves disney too so she likes picking up little disney surprises!:cutie:

Thankfully my friends husband and son and DBF are going to the match and the girls are going to stay in AK...Result! will probabaly be watching the england match tonight but i think it only gets exciting when the penalties start!:cool1:

Cute t shirts, loving the Tom one :teeth:

Wow DBF is brave asking you if you can watch the World Cup when you are there. But at least you have come to a compromise and you just know the girls will have way more fun than the guys :goodvibes

Hey! Joining in! Sounds so fun so far!:)

My DH's absolute favourite place on earth is Ireland. He is actually mildly obsessed...anything and everything having to do with Ireland!!! It is his equivalent of my Disney!

My kids names are Katie and Declan...had to be Irish! (And there aren't a whole lot of Declans in Canada!)

We were in Ireland back in 2000. We flew to Dublin, drove to Galway (probably our favourite part), then circled through southern Ireland, ending up in Dublin to end the trip. We are looking forward to taking the kids back again, and this time also doing Northern Ireland as well.

Anyway, your trip sounds great, and how exciting to introduce you DBF to America and the Parks!

I think it is a wise thing to avoid the Parks on July 4th as you have planned. One year we were in the MK on July 4th, and let me tell you, it was a complete nightmare! I would never do it again!!! The crowds are too much to be enjoyable.

As for shopping, I would totally vouch for both Prime Outlets (on International Drive) and Premium (off I-4). Like you, I am not an American who has easy access to all the great outlet shopping in the States at home, so shopping is always part of my vacation plans. I also like the Millenia Mall (about 20 minutes up I-4 from WDW), but you can get much better deals at the outlets for sure, so I would choose those over Millenia if you had to choose.

Good luck with the vacation planning! You are so close now!:goodvibes

Hi! I've seen you on Keala's trip report this week too, that was so cool you gave her the card! :woohoo:

Happy one month till your birthday!

I really can't wait till our (very brief:rotfl:) Hard Rock stay, will definitely try and squeeze in some pool time, thanks for the recommendation! did you find the express pass a good help??? with Harry Potter I think we'll find it invaluable!

Its great having two sisters with the same size of feet and sharing accessories! my next sister to me who is 18 dresses a bit like Lady Gaga so she thinks my sense of style is pretty tame! but yep overall we find we save a lot of money by sharing outfits! the only rule we have is that if someone says...'o i like your shoes/belt dress...you have to acknowledge the real owner!!!:lmao:

Sorry I'm getting back to you so late. The express pass is incredible! Good thing you're going to Universal towards the end of your trip because you will be so spoiled afterwards! The time that the express pass saves you will make your day go by so much smoother and you'll get to do so much more! :thumbsup2

I love the rule with your sisters!

I'm interested to hear what you think of Kennedy Space Center. My dad wants to take a quick trip down there in the fall to see a launch. I was going to go just in case I can weezle a couple of hours at Downtown Disney out of him. :) I'm sure it's great and all, but I'm like you, it's just not my cup of tea. But how can I pass up a chance to go to Florida? :goodvibes

Where is the picture from with the animal chairs? I've never seen that before?

Hi!
I've just been reading that Raglan Road in DTD will be opening from 10am everyday during the World Cup and showing the football matches on big screens... didn't know if it helped you & DBF with the viewing plans!

Hope you've had a good weekend and not had too much revision :surfweb:

Think i'll keep Tom for our IofA Day! its from asda! we just got a new one 5 mins from our house, i have a bizarre love for grocery stores and am really looking forward to some walmart browsing!:goodvibes

Definitely brave considering he knows how busy our plans are! but i'm glad he's getting to see it and also that i'm getting the whole day in AK! My friend's husband told her he was just gonna try and sneak away on the actual day so i'm glad DBF gave me a few weeks warning! I'm sure the atmosphere in the pub on sat night was a bit deflated!:confused3

Hi! glad you came over!:)

I had actually thought when I was reading your report how irish your kids' names were! they are both beautiful by the way! Aw that is so cool you've been to Ireland! Do you have any family or ancestry from here? Irland is a lovely country to drive through! My dad calls me Mary Kate because he thinks i'm like the girl out of The Quiet Man, with John Wayne, has your DH seen this film!? its quite old but really great and set in Mayo/Galway!

I've actually been to Canada ten times, I've stayed in Scarborough and Ajax just outside Toronto and went up to a cottage at the lakes, it is one of my favourite places in the world! and the Canada pavillion 100% needs a tim hortons!

I think I will try the outlets for Victoria Secrets (which we don't have) and hopefully juicy couture, guess and aeropostale...then I just won't be able to resist Sephora and MAC (And Abercrombie) at the Florida Mall/Mall at Millenia! and hoping that DBF will treat me to a new Pandora Charm!

I'm glad we are in Discovery Cove for the 4th but not sure if DTD is the best place for the evening...my friends have an ADR to watch the 4th of july fireworks from the Rose and Crown...now that was a good idea!:confused3

Discovery Cove was 3 weeks yesterday...can hardly believe it is so soon!!!

Its from the rainforest cafe! we love those chairs, think they're just around the bar area as far as i can remember!

I would definitely go with your dad for the space launch, as you say a trip to Florida is hard to pass up, and maybe you could stretch it out by a day and squeeze in one park or even DTD?!:cool1:

Thanks Emma, thats great info...

I spent 30-40 mins on the phone to Disney reservations on Saturday and came away with...nothing!

the lady was trying her very hardest but seemed to thin the final was on saturday, when its actually sunday and then just couldn't get anything to work on the system, she was very apologetic though and I enjoyed hearing an american accent and the disney waiting music from all around the parks...i think i got about 9 attractions though!:rotfl:

so she said give it 24 hours...but the boys might like the irish bar even better! although espn are in 3d! hmmm decisions:3dglasses...

Uh oh.. its not even 9:00am and I'm back on the Disboards! DH says I'm obsessed. ;) I had to add.... I live in Virginia, in the USA. My town is about 30 miles west of Washington DC. So, we get a lot of hot air out here! :rotfl2: I always love to hear what the Irish and the English say about America. My sister and I have always loved England and Ireland. She has been, but unfortunately I have not. We have always loved things Irish and English. We figure we must have lived there in a past life because in this one, we don't even have one tiny sliver of British, Scottish, or Irish heritage, although DH has a little English. I think in a past life, I must have lived in a cottage that looks like the Twinings tea house because I love that place. I can't get enough of it. I buy alot of tea too.

You will love the Victoria's Secret outlet. I love their bras. They're my favorite even though they're so expensive. We do not have a VS outlet near me. I live about 5-10 minutes away from Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets. In fact, about an hour north in Maryland, there is a Hagerstown Prime Outlet mall and even they don't have Vicky!! We just have the regular retail location in our retail mall.

The animal bar stools ARE in the Rainforest Cafe only in the bar area. So you were correct about that.

We American's don't think we have an accent. Well... over here in the Washington DC area we don't think we do. Because we think the people in the south have an accent, and the people in the New York/New Jersey, they've got an accent and those mid-westerners... they pronounce things funny!:lmao: But WE  to hear English and Irish accents! I wish I could hear ya'll (southern slang) talking. :rotfl2:

Oh I love that necklace! I saw one like it this past Sunday at Aldo. Everyone loves it!

I love how all the Americans I meet know about and acknowledge the different parts of their heritage...my boyfriend thinks I've got viking influences because I',m tall and blond and I think he's got a bit of Spanish from when the Spanish sailors were stranded in Ireland during Elizabethan times!

on a trip round epcot with my family, an CM asked my mum what language my sister was speaking?!?! :confused3 UM English!!! we talk too quick!

and another CM, again in World showcase was like 'OMG Ya'll are from Ireland, I've got a cousinn from County Ulster, would you know them, their name is....?'
:rotfl2: made our day! Ulster is a province including 9 counties, kind of like saying County Mid-West America! and it was a little bit sweet but just so funny that she thought we might know who she was talking about!

My family treated me to a trip to New York for my 21st birthday and we had a day trip to Washington and absolutely loved it, my Nana is going back in November! such a lovely city!:cloud9: freezing in November though!

You will have to get a visit to Ireland sometime, 5-10 cups of tea is a daily occurrence for lots of people i know!:rotfl:

Oh I love that necklace! I saw one like it this past Sunday at Aldo. Everyone loves it!

I think that necklace was about £4! bargain!:cool1: i love tribal stuff!
