How can I give you a Florida quiz...i've never been!!! 3-17th July 2010

Good Morning!!

All of your plans look so amazing!! I'm so excited for you!! And I love how me and my bathrobe got a shout out!! :woohoo: I can't wait to get that picture!!! Hmmm I would also agree with tinkgurl and say to fp first and then ride-especially because you can use the fp after the time frame but not before, so I think it'd be better to just be able to use it more "whenever" as opposed to having to wait all day!! Enjoy Sci-Fi too! I think it is the coolest idea for a restaurant EVER!! I love it so much I'm going back!! Yay!!

Also, you will LOVE Liberty Tree Tavern. That fried cheese was so good and so was the yummy delicious dessert Nikki posted!! For the actual entree, I think you can't go wrong either! I loved my burger, my dad really enjoyed his reuben sandwich, and my mom said the colony salad was the best salad she's ever had!! So I think you will love that meal!!

I can't wait to live vicariously through you visiting Sea World and Universal and Busch Gardens!! We didn't really have time for it this trip and can't make it any longer but I'm so there next April for my 21st...so let me know all the details and cool stuff like where to eat and all that jazz!

We have a framed Maurader's map! A company called "The Noble Collection" does movie props and it is awesome!! I also have Hermione's wand and a time turner!

I love how you are excited to go to TGI Fridays! Do they not have them in Ireland? There are 4 in driving distance of us! We eat there a lot. I like how you venture out of Disney. Once we land at MCO and get on that ME bus, it's Disney all the way for us! Not this trip, but next time we are definitely going to look into going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. :thumbsup2

Had a look at the site and Marauder's Map looks very cool, think that will be my first preference souveneir from HP land, but will be intersting to see prices for all the stuff! i've heard its going to be very dear!

We have one TGI Fri's in Northern Ireland and we do enjoy it but it is nowhere near as nice as the American version...they don't have my favourite dish here the chicken sandwich on garlic toast, the portions are smaller and they don't put the lovely seasoning on the fries! so...i will definitely be eating in TGI's 2-3 times on our trip...in 2003 we stayed in Orlando for 21 nights and had dinner at TGI Fris...17 of those nights! how shameful!:rotfl: but we enjoyed it each and every night and kids ate free so my mum and nana were loving it!

I would love to do a trip staying in Disney being able to use the Magical Express and DBF being able to enjoy a few drinks in the evenings with dinner...is definitely in our future plans! Reading your trip report made me realise how fun world showcase could be at night! :cool1:

You should definitely plan in HP, and the crowds won't be as manic in a yr's time, I think this July will be crazeee!:scared1:

We LOVE Chef Mickey's! When planning my ADR's for Sept, I was told by my DH and DD that we had to eat at Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. They didn't care where else we ate! I love the old pictures that you've posted. Isn't is fun to look back at previous Disney trips?

I've never been to Busch Gardens in Tampa, but I've been to the one in Virginia. They have some excellent roller coasters! In 2006, we stayed at a Marriott Vacation Club on International Drive right by SeaWorld. We drove by it everyday and we always would watch the people on Atlantis and one of the other coasters (not Manta...it wasn't built yet).

Maybe Busch Gardens might be a good trip for future years, they do a lot of tours including one where you can feed the giraffes and get really close up, would Madison like that sort of thing?

Glad to hear DH enjoyed Chef Mickey's as well as Madison, I'm not sure if we'll feel weird as an adult couple in the middle of all families with kids, but I feel like I am still a big Kid, and am so excited to meet the characters without having to stand and queue in the heat of the parks! will be my first ever chaarcter meal!

Your plans look so awesome! If I were you, though, I'd get a FP for Toy Story and then ride, since by the time you get off the ride, there's a strong chance that the return time will be much, much later. That ride is absolutely insane when it comes to running out of fastpasses and crazy wait times. It's awesome, though :teeth:

I could easily go on this ride 10 times a day and not get bored, I'm nervous thinking of a huge crowd of stampeding TSM fans but hopefully will be a relatively civilised stampeded?!:lmao:

Your plans are looking great, I love that dress. I"m always sneaking in some last minute purchases (even on the day of departure):rotfl:

I"m excited to see Harry Potter Land as well..just trying to convince Dbf!:rolleyes1

...i'm still here reading your PTR..popcorn::

Is DBF Not loving the idea of Harry Potter? Ray doesn't really like the films and wouldn't even read a page of the books and if he knew how big the lines are going to be for Forbidden Journey he'd probably be freaking out! But I think he'll like Hogsmeade? Might try and get him to watch at least a couple of the films with me before I go...the attention to detail is meant to be brilliant!

Glad you like the dress, purchases on the day of departure :rotfl: i'm working that day, and my office is very close to the shops, so i could be joining you!

I'm still looking out for your pre-trippie!

Love your dress! The pattern is really pretty!

As for a snack for Fantasmic, I heard Starring Rolls Cafe is really good. They have all kinds of treats, including humongous cupcakes & muffins.

Will have a look on All-Ears for the menu, a big cupcake now I could deal with that!

The dress was only £8 and I thought would be nice and cool for during the day!

Love the plans so far!

For Toy Story Midway Mania... DBF & I always do "(b)" - ride then get a FP - because we tend to spend most of a day at DHS so we know we'll still be there at 2/3pm if the FP is that late!
The queue for FPs is so big first thing after rope drop... I wonder if some people just join it because they think it's the queue for the actual ride?! but then time we've ridden it (usually less than 10 minute wait) the FP queue has disappeared lol
Either way will work though.. just definitely head over there first thing! :thumbsup2

I went to Busch Gardens in 2008 (while staying in Bradenton with my parents :goodvibes) and we did all the rollercoasters ... Sheikra is soo scary - it's like Oblivion in Alton Towers but much much better! and it really pauses right at the top of that vertical drop :scared1: !

Emma princess: x

ps - love the dress!

Hey, I've been on Sheikra once and that pause on the edge is definitely the most scary part for me, just drop us and get it over with!

I wonder did they anticipate TSM becoming as popular as it is?! appeals to every age and has so much rrepeat appeal! I had heard that before about people joining the fastpass queue thinking it was the proper line...maybe if we're there early enough and close to the front we'll just sort of see what the best option is...don't know! its a toughie! thanks for the help!

The Dress is From Asda! so cheap as chips! they have it in block colours too, saw purple and black!

For TSM, I'd say get FP's and then get in the stand-by line. You never know how much later the FP return time could go if you rode stand-by first before getting FP's. It might be during Fantasmic and you don't want that since you're watching the show!

Oooooh thanks for the warning, during Fantasmic would be a real nightmare!:scared1: because we have only this one chance really to see it! and it is probably my favourite night time show and i've never had good seats so looking forward to getting there early and really savouring it!

TSM definitely worth getting there before opening:3dglasses, I wonder what time crowds start to gather?

For a snack to bring into Fantasmic, I reccomend going to Starring Rolls and getting a cupcake-- yummy!
I love Seaworld!! Atlantis is so fun-- I also love the tunnel you walk through with all the fish around you. With a Disney or IOA/US vacation being a bit hurried, it's nice to take a day at Seaworld and relax!! Clyde and Seamore is my favorite show there, it's absolutely hysterical!

Another vote for a cupcake from Starring Rolls, they must be good! gonna put it in my notebook of must do snacks!:thumbsup2

Seaworld always does seem more relaxed, I love the tunnel (those moray/conger eels coming out of the walls are so creepy!) and clyde and seamore too!:yay: Will be interesting to see if DBF's favourites are similar to mine, I hope so!:goodvibes

All sound great :thumbsup2

For TSM I would get an FP then ride it, thats what we are hoping to do this year. It most prob won't be that big a wait than if you did it the other way round.

I remember the Kraken, is an awesome ride, I remember DF having second thoughts walking up to it, bless him. But its over so quickly, so at least DF can relax a little knowing that :)

I suppose it would mean that your next fastpass might be sooner too?!

Would love to have a go on the Wii game to get in a bit of practice but no time with revision and saving for dollars too!

That first big drop on Kraken to me gives the no.1 'heart in your mouth' feeling, so scary but so good at the same time!:yay:

Your bathrobe idea was too funny not to get a shout out!

Good reports on Sci Fi and LTT...I love it! really can't wait to visit either, Sci fi is such a cool idea, I told DBF about all the restaurants in HS and thats the one he picked out!

Ok I'm glad you want to hear abbout Sea World and Universal etc, I wasn't sure whether to just gloss over them *** we're on disboards but I love them almost as much as Disney! Your 21st will be here before you know it!

Thanks...I'm glad the bathrobe idea was shoutout worthy! Can't wait to actually live out the picture!!

I bet your DBF will LOVE Sci-Fi. Its so nice and cool in there so it'll be a nice break from the July FL sun!! Plus, I'm like 95% sure you can get milkshakes for your drink here!! (Someone can correct me if I'm wrong!) So if you guys like those, that's a plus!

Please don't gloss over Sea World and Universal, etc! I love to hear about them too. Especially Sea World...I just LOVE marine animals and killer whales were my favorite for the longest time! I've only been to the one in San Diego though and can't wait to hit up the Orlando one! Plus I'm a huge adrenaline junkie so I want to hear about all the sweet rides at the other places!!

DBF actually loves milkshakes, so he might get one, I love milk and icecream separately but just don't think I'd fancy a milkshake!:lmao:

I'd love to visit the San Diego one, you'll love Sea World in Orlando, it has 3 great thrill rides although this will be the first time I get to try Manta, I was planning outfits today and love wearing dresses and shorts but Islands of Adventure and Sea World are definitely places to wear shorts to, don't want to scare people as i zip past them flashing my underwear or anything!:scared1:

Day 9: Epcot (Fri 9th July)

Another early morning to try and be at the park for opening...we will be heading straight away with a million other eager beavers towards...SOARIN! I have never done this ride and really can't wait, it gets suchglowing reviews, similar to TSM it will probably be a fastpass the ride or vice versa! again not sure which option is best!

would love to get front row for our very first ride!

next we will head over to Test Track and Mission Space (the 'manly' side :rotfl2:...I made a big mistake and told DBF about the couple of unfortunate deaths linked with this ride a few years ago (think its in the UG) and he swore he would'nt go on! but if he forgets that he said that then i won't be bringing it up! because I think he will really enjoy this ride, its so exciting having your role and feeling the sensations of liftoff etc!

Would love to also pick up a fastpass for test track for later if we can fit it in!
One of my favourite rides, I got my car road safety tested last week and I asked my tester man if he'd ever been on Test Track because there were some similar aspects, but he'd never been to Disney!:rotfl: he probably thought i was a bit weird!

testtrack.jpg

We will most likely spend some time in Innoventions and riding ellen's energy adventure, spaceshoip earth, the seas and living with the land if we can fit all that in! DBF is a physics teacher and science buff so I hope he will really enjoy our day at Epcot.

we will probably have a light lunch, maybe at Electric Umbrella or Sunshine Seasons...the latter seems to get better reviews, but we will be saving our appetites for our 5.30 pm ADR at Le Cellier!

le-cellier-1-07.jpg

So steak for dinner most likely! although the moose looks lovely, I'm saving space for one of these for dessert!

The rest of the evening will be spent wandering around world Showcase, hopefully taking in the 2 boat rides in Mexico and Norway and browsing through the shops. I got a much better sense from some of the trip reports on here about how enjoyable World showcase can be, I don''t think we've ever given it sufficient attention! I would like to try a Gran Marnier or Grey Goose slushie, or at least some exotic beverage but DBF will be driving so might be better just to browse the shops and enjoy the scenery and hopefully find a good spot to watch illuminations!

Last time my family had a patio table at Rose & Crown! so where is a good spot around Worldshowcase?

Here's a few old school photos from previous visits to Epcot!

my mum bought us all croc's and jibbitz for our last trip...we all had different disney jibbitz and then everybody had a matching leprechaun one!

Hey! I finally got a chance to check out your PTR! It's been on my list of "DIS things to do" for a while now.

Your plans sound great! Your vacation actually starts on my birthday (July 1st)! It's the perfect day in my opinion. ;)

I know others have mentioned it before, but yall are going to LOVE Hard Rock Hotel!! It was AMAZING when we stayed there back in 2001! You feel like a celebrity the whole time you're there. You gotta plan for some time down by the pool. It was so cool! And the BEDS....OMG!!! You feel like you're sleeping on a cloud! :cloud9: It was definitely my all time best hotel experience thus far. I can't wait to hear what you think of it!

Those are some great pictures from when you were younger. I love looking at how Disney has changed in some ways, but stayed the same in others.

You have a great sense of style by the way! It must be great having a big sister like you. Do they raid your closet? Or do you and your sisters have different tastes when it comes to clothes?

sounds like a lovely day at Epcot you have planned!
Le Cellier is amazing.. IMO it deserves it's reputation & explains why it's just so difficult to get ADRs there! :thumbsup2

If DBF is a little concerned about Mission Space, maybe you could try the 'green' version first (rather than the 'orange') - that one doesn't spin and is less intense :thumbsup2 (although I always go for the Orange one! it's a great ride!)
Soarin' is wonderful, hope you guys love it!!

For Illuminations.. as long as you're not near/under any trees & have a view of the lagoon - it should be a good position to see the fireworks show! :goodvibes I have stood near Morocco, Canada & Mexico - all great views... also the bridge between the UK & France pavilions (the absolute best view was from a boat on the lagoon that I booked as a surprise for DF's family last summer!!)

YUM! Funnel cake!! So delicious! Have you ever gotten it with the ice cream on top? Even better on a hot day!

Epcot is my favorite so I love hearing about the day you have planned. Sounds wonderful! We used to like watching Illuminations from the Cantina but that'll be closed.....really, I think anywhere around the lagoon is a good spot! We've seen it so many times that, at this point, we just stop and watch from wherever we happen to be when it starts! Recently I had the crazy idea to watch from the top of the stairs in Japan but that seems too good to be true...they must block it off or something because I've never heard anyone talk about watching from up there.

I suppose it would mean that your next fastpass might be sooner too?!

Well a couple of hours later you can get an FP, but ToT lets you get a FP after one hour.

The Wii game is awesome, you should defo get some practice in before you go :thumbsup2

To be honest with you I don't remember the Kraken that much, but I know what you mean about when your climbing climbing and then wham its time to drop

Great plans for Epcot :thumbsup2

Wow Nikki that is a snack and a half

I envy those of you who can go on Mission Space :( I can't go on it at all, not even the mild one. It makes me  Part of it is the tight space. I can't even go on the teacups, though. I tried doing a Tilt-A-Whirl with my niece a year ago and I got so sick afterward.

DBF actually loves milkshakes, so he might get one, I love milk and icecream separately but just don't think I'd fancy a milkshake!:lmao:

You're too funny! I like milkshakes but only in small increments!! I can never finish one!!

Have you ever been to any other part of the states?? The only ones I've really visited (and not just passed through) are California, Florida and Utah (besides the one I live of course!)

I love thrill rides! Manta looks so awesome!! It's completely understandable to wear shorts to IoA and SW! Conveinently, the only rides that WDW has that go upside are in the dark! :rotfl:

Your Epcot day sounds awesome!! That's so cool that your DBF is a physics teacher!! I was so bad at physics...don't tell! The guy I have a secret crush on now is into all that science and math stuff!! Gotta love those "nerdy" guys!! ;)

On Soarin', if it were a short wait, I would just ride it. However, whenever you ride, since it is your first time, ASK FOR THE FRONT ROW!! I guess it truly doesn't matter that much, but I think that it's just THAT much better without feet dangling in the top of your line of sight. Might as well have the best experience for the first impression!

Hi! I've seen you on Keala's trip report this week too, that was so cool you gave her the card! :woohoo:

Happy one month till your birthday!

I really can't wait till our (very brief:rotfl:) Hard Rock stay, will definitely try and squeeze in some pool time, thanks for the recommendation! did you find the express pass a good help??? with Harry Potter I think we'll find it invaluable!

Its great having two sisters with the same size of feet and sharing accessories! my next sister to me who is 18 dresses a bit like Lady Gaga so she thinks my sense of style is pretty tame! but yep overall we find we save a lot of money by sharing outfits! the only rule we have is that if someone says...'o i like your shoes/belt dress...you have to acknowledge the real owner!!!:lmao:

Emma, I know the nice thing to do would be to go for green but i'm gonna be just a little bit sneaky and go for orange! I love'd it on our last trip! but we'll see, maybe jiminy cricket will appear on my shoulder that day and intercede!:rotfl2:

Glad to hear you think Le Cellier lives up to its reputation, I'm excited about my steak there, and I've also heard good things about the pretzel bread so gotta try that too!

That ice cream block is huge! hehe icing sugar or ice cream, tough decisions...:rotfl:

I was worried we might have to try and stake out a spot maybe up to an hour before the show but as we're both quite tall we might be ok as you say to stop when it starts as long as we get a clear view?!

Well a couple of hours later you can get an FP, but ToT lets you get a FP after one hour.

Yeah, thats an interesting fact about ToT, I wonder why they made it the exception?!

The Dis, the junior apprentice and Britain's got talent are the only vices i can afford right now unfortunately otherwise these exams would be even more of a disaster, might get ithe toy story game in time for our next trip though...

I've been to Canada ten times because we stayed with relatives every other year, so crossed over at Niagra Falls into the states, then been to Kentucky for Irish Dancing (stop over in Atlanta airport) and my 21st birthday present from my parents was a trip to New York! and this will be my 6th trip to Florida, I would love to visit Las Vegas and California next!

I love that DBF knows things though, and is interested in knowledge, I love learning facts and new things and we can have in depth discussions, but i also like that he's good at sports and into outdoors things too! :rotfl: so how long will your crush be secret for, are you friends right now? popcorn::

Ok, definitely gonna go for the front seat now girl!

HI!!! I saw you on a few other TRs and remember that you followed along on my last TR! I am joining in :goodvibes I love that you are an Irish dancer! Soo cool :thumbsup2 I love all of your clothes for the trip. I am so excited to follow along!

I started a new PTR for our December trip if you want to join in :) The link is in my siggy~!

My little ticker reads a month today! :yay:

Unfortunately that means 19 days until my exams!:scared1:

23 days until exams are over...

and 29 days until we head off to the London part of our trip! I feel like somebody pressed the fast forward button!

Hello and :welcome: I really enjoyed reading about Wilderness Lodge (in my top 3 of resorts i'd love to stay at along with the Poly and Animal Kingdom Lodge) in your trip report and have already read through the first few pages of your new PTR, so will try and catch up, the Wilderness lodge at christmas, I'd be on :cloud9:!!!

hey girl! Sorry I've been MiA here on your PTR but I'm here and I'm going back to catch up :goodvibes:

No worries, its probably a lot of work keeping up with yours at the moment, and I'm enjoying all your updates!popcorn::

WOW!!! That is just...amazing Nikki! That is the biggest block of icecream I have ever seen

Day 10: Our trip to Kennedy Space Centre...hmmmm:confused:

This is again one of the things that DBF stated he'd really like to do along with the Titanic exhibition, I have zero interest but will go with an open mind in the hope that it will be aninteresting day out and nice to drive to the coast together.

The Brit's guide to Orlando by Susan and Simon Verness actually gave a pretty good write up of KSC, there is a launch simulator (doubt it will be as good as mission space!:rotfl2:) exhibitions, a bus tour of the site and a garden so am going to try and be an :littleangel: and soak in DBF's enjoyment *** I know he'll love it!

1905-1.jpg

I'm not sure how many hours KSC will take maybe 10-3? any ideas guys? Then on the way home, we have to make a detour so DBF can see Daytona and the famous racetrack, he's only requested 3 things so although I told him we couldn't fit this in we will hopefully be ok if he doens't spend too long in the Space Centre!

I'm hoping we can look at it out the caar window as we drive pass...:rotfl2: but DBF will probaby want to get out and look around! :headache: but time is a ticking! we have to be back at International Drive at his building...

because we are meeting up with my friend and her family (from Raglan Road and Sci-fi drive in) to see the Magic Comedy Dinner show...this will be my 1st ever dinner show in Orlando! we picked it because it serves unlimited pizza (for me, was the only dinnershow that had food i could eat) and unlimited beer (DBF will not be driving this night!:;))

But we will not be having a lie in on Day 10: Animal Kingdom

Upon arrival we will be heading straight towards Expedition Everest, pick up fastpasses, ride then over to Kilimanjaro Safari's then hopefully get fastpasses for later in the day!

Love EE! Think i rode it about 5 times on our last AK Day, me and my uncle used the families 8 fastpasses between us 2! so although I missed out on Primieval Whirl which I am looking forward to riding for the first time i definitely got my Everest Fix! Here is me my 2 sisters and my cousin in 2008!

We will probably be following the UG's touring plans again...we will want to try
- Kali River Rapids (should I wear a Poncho?)
- Dinosaur
- Festival of the Lion King
- Nemo the Musical
- The different trek's
- It's tough to be a bug

Basically everything! I love zoos in general, can't wait to go on Kilimanjaro Safari's and am also looking forward to paying more attention to the Tree of Life!:) I really enjoyed tinkgurl's description of her day in the animal Kingdom and am looking forward to seeing the Bats she had pictures of in her trip report!

Lunch will be at Pizzafari or Flame Tree BBQ, depending on how we feel on that day!

Dinner is at 6.15, we are meetig our friends from Ireland again at our 6.15pm ADR! I think DBF will really enjoy the ambience and the animatronicss!

CAN YOU SPOT HER?!

Ok and here's another of my mum's surpridse finds, but this one I'm not so sure about, I modelled it for DBF and he thought it was a joke! so I'm not sure if it will make the packing list or not? its cute...but is it useful?

p.s. in case its hard to make out its a handbag type drink holder!

Lol that's a cute water bottle holder!
It's a good idea if you don't mind carrying one around, as lots of water is so necessary in the heat! :cool2:
DF and I usually just stop at water fountains to keep hydrated :thumbsup2

About Kali river rapids.. it's not too wet... unless you are in the two seats that go down the first ramp backwards... there is a HUGE fountain of water shooting upwards (I think they use more water in the summer months!) and the two people sat in those seats will get soaked :scared1:
(btw I'm talking from experience! :rolleyes1)

But in comparison to the water rides at IoA - Kali isn't too bad.. on Dudley Doo Rights, Popeye and Jurassic Park at IoA last summer I got completely soaked and didn't dry out all day - even though it was 90 degrees +

Your trip is getting so close now!!

Emma princess: x

Honestly, I'd wear a poncho on KRR, but that's just me. I hate walking around all wet.

Both FOTLK and Nemo are great shows. Be sure to allow enough time to get in line for them before the show actually starts.

I really hope you do the different trails. As you know from my March TR, it was our first time doing them that trip. They were so neat!

Oh gosh, all the Resorts you listed (AKL, Poly, WL) are so beautiful. Honestly, if you want to just spend a nice relaxing night, why not head over to the Poly. Look around there, then get some drinks and head out onto the beach and just enjoy the MK view. It's beautiful. :cloud9:
