Don't you love when that happens! Congrats. It always gives me a little extra motivation.

I figured that would get ya.

The best part of it is that my VS bill went down. Ya know how expensive panties are. See in my own odd sort of way I am saving money and the earth:cool1:

I will buy generic food at the store... i will save gas by walking, i recycle, i use those energy saving bulbs..... just don't take my VS undies from me :sad2:

It took my 30 years to be able to FIT in VS undies .... now that I can your going to TAKE them from me :scared1:

:: hiding my pretty little VS undies from the mean Vannessa::::

Brook- I would not cut them up...that would be sooo wasteful.

I would just put them in extra HOT water and let them soak and then re-wear them. Germs ya know

Where is Mandy and Channing when you need them??

They would be applauding me for my budget minded earth saving ideas.

busy reading the budget board of course! :dance3:

I am trying to figure out these Iowa tests results my kids brought home.... DS13 made a 97 core score, DS10 made a 93 core score and Savannah made a 67!!!

OK great, right? Well my boys are forever in trouble in school, will bomb tests and are not the greatest of students even though I know they are both highly gifted. My sweet little savannah has never been into trouble, makes strait 100 averages on her report card, was student of the month twice, her teacher is always raving she is the best kid in the class.... :confused3

I guess it just proves that us troublemakers are smarter :rotfl2:

I just got Lexi's results also. During the tests we left on our Disney Cruise (yes I know I am a bad parent but I did not know the tests would be at that time)

Before we left she did great but after we got back she did awful.

I spoke with the teacher. She said that in 1st grade these tests are tough on kids. It makes for a long day. Maybe Savannah just got bored. Some kids are just not test takers.

Oh I also wanted to add along with the testing results of 93...my DS10 got written up in Chapel ... he said the song they were singing was boring so he and his buddies made up NEW lyrics to the Chapel song they were singing that morning :scared1:

That's the only thing I can think of. Savannah is also in the 1st grade. All my kids go to a private school (they have to here in New Orleans as we have the worst schools in the country) The thing is though she is a REALLY good test taker! She was having trouble with cursive S so the little angel asked to stay in at recess so she could practice her S and get better..... on pain of death my boys would not do that :rotfl: I have to stand over them with a gilloutine just to get them to do their homework :rotfl:

Lexi is the same way. She is my little miss perfect. Now my little Lily...that is another story. She definately takes after her father:angel:

NO!!! Stick with us!!! We'll help you work it thru!!!! GET YOURSELF OVER THERE ON THAT BUDGET BOARD!!! YOU can sneak in alittle GF trippie!!!! Just eat PB&J 3X/day for a month!!!

:rotfl: I may just have to do that! The problem is time off from work. We have a week in DC (before my boss loses all her Republican contacts in govt.), a long weekend at the Atlantis, July 4th weekend at a friends house at lake LBJ, Sea World in San Antonio for Labor day, plus summer school the month of July (for learning different kids, it's important to maintain. They don't learn new stuff in July, unless it's a fun elective.) plus a week-long baseball tournament in July that plays games during the day! :scared1:

I'm still tempted, though. :rolleyes1

My plan...just do not wear any. Then you do not have to wash them;)

:rotfl:

Yes -- but no generic ketchup... or generic Nilla Wafers...

And I agree! Now that I can fit in all the VS stuff, my husband goes and buys it for me. Not that he has an ulterior motive or anything... :rolleyes1

It sounds like she just had an off day. Andrew, my oldest, did not do well on his speech testing. (he's the one who is ADHD, dyslexia and has verbal expressive problems, so he articulates well but has a hard time processing and is naturally shy because of it.) He scored in the 1 percentile on the part about following directions. He answered all the questions backwards! Imagine that. So, we'll have to increase his speech classes to twice a week group, and twice a week private. (and of course, the private lessons aren't included in the ridiculous tuition we pay)

On that note, Channing -- I need budget board advice! ;)

DS10 is ADHD and Ds13 is ADD and has dysgraphia. I am dyslexic so I am guessing he gets it from me :thumbsup2

DS13 has been IQ tested and goes to a therapist because his IQ is so high (163 on the last test).... I know people brag about having a gifted child but a true high gifted child is not a good thing (at least while growing up hehe) he has a lot of trouble in the social area and the difference between logic and emotion. His IQ is so high it is a disability for him.
He is also extremely lazy :rotfl2:
I know he did not pay attention on that test... i know he just sped through it as fast as he could to get it done. I know he could have done much better than a 97 ... that was his I dont give a crap about this test score :rotfl:
It is very difficult having a child who is highly gifted... there are soooo many emotional and developmental issues because of it. He was in the 5th grade before he learned to tie his own shoe :scared1:

OMG I was checking CNN for my daily news and saw this video
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2008/05/01/india.baby.toss.cnn
Even though the babies are not hurt in this video... it is NOT for the faint of heart!!!! I about had a heart attack watching it and I don't frighten easily!!!!

I am for religious and cultural differences but golly gosh darn... man o man..... i dont know what to say over it.
Is it crazy if it's your religious and cultural WAY of doing things? Man o man.... My heart stopped beating every time one was dropped :scared1:

I dont need to get on my treadmill this morning to get the old ticker beating... thats for sure

LUCKY!

Seriously, congrats - just a little bit jealous though as I have finally lost 2 lbs. this week after losing NADA for almost 3 weeks! I was going to throw the scale in the trash if I hadn't lost any this week! 5 lbs overnight is awesome!

Brooke, this sounds so much like my son. 142 IQ, but with Aspergers syndrome. Not a great combination. He is in all advanced classes but can't remember to bring a pencil and usually forgets to bring home any homework. They put him in a Sp.Ed. study hall so he gets help keeping his stuff together, and knowing what he needs to be doing. It looks like he'll be in Algebra for 8th grade, which means he'll lose his special study (Algebra and sp. study are the same period- they figured no one was going to need both.) But he needs both and I am so worried about him being successful without his helper.
It is really not fun to have a special needs genius...the system is not set up to understand that combination of needs. The IQ becomes a disability as much as the Aspergers.

My son does have Aspergers syndrome tendancies but not enough to be diagnosed AS an Aspergers child. He fits somewhere in the grey area. He does have a therapist and works with her on a regular basis. When it comes to IQ's that high it can be hard to diagnose Aspergers syndrome. If you have ever seen Jerry Lee Lewis as the absentminded proffesor... THAT IS MY SON TO A TEE!!!!

It can be so frustrating at times! He has trouble with basic every day concepts ..... I am talking the simple tiny stuff... but can really tell you what E=MC means :rotfl:
