Have you ever been on, or would you ever go on a World Cruise?

I'm talking about the ones that last 2 to 3 months. I don't think I ever will. I think I'd get home sick. I think the longest I could do would be a 15 day one to Hawaii. Then again, I've never been on a cruise. I'm planning my first one in 2 years. It will be a 7 day one to Alaska. If you've been on long cruises, do you get bored? I'd love to hear.

I learned two big things from our one and only cruise thus far...

1. Day 1 is too much of a hassle for shorter 3-4 day cruises.
2. Between days 5-6 was when I was ready to be back on land for good.

So, I think it's a hard no for me.

If I had time off and money probably . I am doing a 12 day cruise in June so I will see how that goes first. 7 has been my longest one so far.

Well, never say never, but a 2 week cruise last year was long enough for me. I don't like to be away from home that long. On our last port our tour guide told us she had given a tour to a group that was on a 6 month cruise and they all wanted to eat off the ship! (Viking food is not crappy but I imagine 6 months would be plenty long enough to get tired of it)

I have not, and given the popularity of cruises and the resultant giant increase in the cost of cruising, not likely I could afford that cruise.
Shortest cruise I have taken was 7 days, longest was 10 days, both too short. Taking a Princess Land/Sea trip this year, 7 day cruise after a 7 day land tour, 14 days away from home. This will be my longest time away from home ever. As we approached retirement we tried to prepare our house to be left vacant for periods of time. Locking mailbox, automatic sprinklers, no more pets. But my wife somehow has snuck a bunch of potted plants (11 to be exact) that will need watering. Working on options for that, but EVERY plant purchased came with a pre-purchase warning that we have nobody to water them when we are gone. Not sure why it matters as I don't think any of the plants cost more than $2-$3. The pots, well, those cost $30-$50 each.

Nope not interested. There are only so many days you can be on vacation before eating out every meal, living out a suitcase or having to do laundry becomes a reality. It is also a bit much to ask a neighbor to take care of your house, cut the grass or water the flowers when you are gone. We stop the mail so that isn't an issue, but even when a neighbor asks us to watch their house (for the obvious reasons) none of them expect us to be caretakers while they are gone.

In talking with friends/relatives who have been on a cruise, the rooms are tiny compared to the typical hotel which tends to limit how much time you want to spend in your room.

The FB pages I'm on for Seabourn many of them do long cruises. World Cruises as in what the company calls it vary. Seabourn tends to do only 1 very long one per year, the 2026 is 129 days long for example and is labeled "World of Fire". They sell however segments of that in varying lengths like they do on many other itineraries. There's an 18 day 2026 world cruise that takes the Hawaii and French Polynesia segment from the 129 day one, a 48 day one that takes the Hawaii and French Polynesia and New Zealand segment from the 129 day one, etc.

The people who go on these are either retired or own their own businesses.

I could see my husband going on a month to two months perhaps even longer if we didn't have our cat and if we were in retirement because while work can be somewhat completed using wifi things like site visits and other work cannot. I wouldn't be opposed to taking them as it allows you to see so much of the world in one go.

We've tossed around the idea of one of the several month cruises in 10 or 15 years...with that being said we've only ever done river cruises and so we'd #1 need to try a longer river cruise (20+ days) and then if we survived that we'd have to try a few ocean cruises. The idea of going to so many places intrigues us, enough to consider it as a possibility in the future.

I'd for sure do it if I had the money. Seems like such a wonderful, relaxing break and a way to see a lot of places in a short time. I'd also like to do a long river cruise for the same reasons. When I hit the lottery lol....

I'd need to take a short cruise first just to make sure it's something I'd enjoy. Not completely convinced cruising is for me.

We would do one. We love cruising and 4 months on a ship sounds heavenly. We are never ready for our 7 night cruises to end. Seems like a great way to see the world.
