What I thought (and still can't figure out) is why couldn't I hear the rest of the sentence. Maybe our ghost experts can shed some light, but I just think that part is weird. Why could I only hear my name so distinctly?

I bet if you were able to record it like the TAPS guys it would have been able to understand it.:confused3

The good thing is that the second one was only 15 minutes long. Nice place though.

I loved the first part! It was interesting and strange....

The first one was good and I missed about 15 minutes of th begininng

You'd be in good company -- "Dude, Run!" :rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao:

To the person who asked about the Wright episode. It is the one about Wright-Patterson Air Force base. the shows are on you-tube.

Half the time I can't figure out what those recordings are saying, but after they say what they think it I go "oh yeah it does sound like that"

and other times it is very clear, like the "not Jean" one. :scared1:

The baby-store episod (I don't know the official name of the episode). That's one of my faves. :thumbsup2

OOOOOh, you're not going to keep us hanging like that, are you?

Please, do tell.:hyper:

It does kinda leave ya hanging doesn't it? To tell all the stories would take awhile and I'm way to tired. I'll have to leave you in the dark for now...oooh, spooky!

:rotfl: You're right, and maybe it's good I didn't know what "she" said - or the horses would have been up to their eyeballs in manure!

Well, I'm not sure why the name came out so clearly. Maybe because it was relatively "short", as opposed to what was presumably some type of sentence. It sounds very elementary (and makes sense when you think about it), but these spirits no longer have bodies, throats, larynxes, etc, things necessary to make intelligeble sounds. It's amazing they can even shout a name, or make any types of sounds that are relatively deciperable. I've read that for them to do this, it's like us sitting under water and trying to communicate that way. Not easy.

::yes:: The name parts were drawn out and very deliberate, but the sentence sounded faster, and I wanted to describe it like a foriegn language, but it was more like you've described - like someone talking under water yet clearer.

Very scary, Breezy!!!

Here's a story someone I work with told me. When he was little, he was outside playing, and he saw the little baby that lived in the house next door walking on top of a fence in the yard. He thought it was really strange, because 1) the fence was very narrow, and 2) the baby was way too young to be walking!
Just then, the woman in the house next door came running out, screaming. She had just discovered her baby, dead, in it's crib.

 :scared1: :faint: THAT IS CREEPY!

my story...

I was very close to my papa (grandfather) my whole life, who died before I had my first child.

A bit after the birth of my first child (whether it was a few days, weeks or months, I can't remember, but she was still a baby), I had a VERY vivid dream one night. I was in a room, and my dd was in a bassinet near me, and my papa entered the room through a white fog, very quickly and deliberitly. I was thrilled to see him and did an immediate happy-gasp and motioned to hug him, but he immediately put up his hand to stop me (and maybe he looked at me while doing so), walked by me quickly and said "I'm here to see Erin" very matter-of-factly. He walked to the bassinet, leaned over looking into it, and that was it. I woke up with such overwhelming emotion, in a good way though.

A couple days later, I'm talking to my older brother on the phone and tell him about my dream, just because we were all close to papa and I thought the dream was neat (but I really just thought it was a dream at this point). He says "oh my god, I just finished reading a book about people being visited by ghosts, and what you just described is exactly in the book!" That really shocked me, and really made me feel I was visited by my papa. What also makes it weird to me was if I hadn't told my brother, who just happened to read that book, I'd always think it was just a dream. It was like I was supposed to tell him so he could tell me it was 'real'. Make any sense???:upsidedow

Another story... my dh's brother died when bil was 18yo and dh and I were married and living in the same house as him (w/ mil). Overwhelmingly sad for everyone, of course. A few weeks after the funeral, I woke up around 4am, which wasn't unusual for me to wake up, but bil popped in my mind, and I just couldn't get back to sleep till the alarm went off at 6am. I was really trying to get some more sleep, but I couldn't get bil off my mind. It was a very heavy feeling. When the alarm went off, I rolled over to dh and told him I had been awake for a couple of hours, thinking about his brother. He said he was also awake for hours, thinking about his brother. It was like bil was 'there' with us both that morning.

I've also had a few dreams that have come true, to the "t"... no lottery numbers or anything (darn!!), and I've been to a few psychics (sp???) that one was right on about future stuff, and one sort of read my mind. I'm not really "into" this stuff, but my sil always tells me people have to be open to it to really experience it. Don't know... but I do know my psychic dreams were real.

Yes I too am a nerd about this subject but when one has things happen personally I do not think it is being a nerd as much as just trying to find out if you really did have the experience or if you just twisted what you thought happened to what you wanted to happen. I have had too many experiences to believe it was wishful thinking. Also I will try and get my son to post my pix from St. Augustine Lighthouse(funny when kids are little you need to do everything for them but when they are teenagers .....they cannot do even one little thing you ask them to!).

I too have read tons of ghost books but some of them are so hoaky. I find Hans Holzer to be kind of unbelievable and I tend to classify him with Sylvia Brown and James Van Pragh.

I have read lots of local ghost stories too especially those from Mass. In all honesty the Ghost Hunter book is kind of unbelievable also. I mean when you read some of the things they claimed happened I always wonder how come none of that shows up on the show or on video. But all in all it is a pretty good book.
Personally I think that being a nerd is a good thing. :thumbsup2

Personal experiences account for a lot and seem to be the biggest reason why people get into this. I have a pet theory that many experiences are psychic or seen by the mind's eye if you will. Both Jason and Grant claim to be sensitive to such things and Jason has explained that this sensitivity has led him to explore this subject. (Of course you know that but just chatting.) I also find it fascinating that cameras and recorders often pick up things not seen or heard by those present.

As for Hans Holzer, I believe that he genuinely believed in spirits but came from a time when psychics were widely used. Of course, police use so-called "real" psychics so who knows. :confused3

Are you one of those people that reach for the phone before it rings or maybe think about someone and they call? This stuff fascinates me.

Planogirl, is there anyway to shut it off so to speak, if you're sensative to this stuff. I figure I must be because I've had countless experiences all my life, and like I said it's even followed me to a new house. And b4 y'all think I'm a major nutcase (kinda makes ya feel like one doesn't it?) - I'm probably one of the most normal, down to earth people you could ever meet. But this stuff is creepy.

Also, does it run in the family? Because my son told me how Grandpa came to see him and had a talk with him. He said they were sitting on his bed together and Grandpa was very worried about Aunt Suzie. DS told me that Grandpa told him that her stomach hurt. He said it was not a dream that Grandpa came and sat with him on the bed.

Well...DS has an Aunt Susan (DH's SIL), and Grandpa could have very well called her Aunt Suzie, but DS has never called her that. Oh, and 2 days later we got a call (completely out of the blue), that Susan was having issues and going in for surgery. We found out later she was dx with stage 4 colon cancer.

I'm sure y'all figured out that Grandpa is dead right?

I have had had lots of experiences for a long time. I will tell some fo the newer stuff but not stuff from way back. (can't, it creeps me out even thinking about it)

So, background for story #1, which I have told on here before. My FIL died at age 52, before I even had my kids. My MIL had gone back to school to get her Masters degree something she always wanted and FIL talked her into going back. When he died she was going to just give up and not finish. We all told her she had to continue because it was what Dad wanted. So she did.

Fast forward to graduation day for her. By now I have 2 kids and SIL has 1. Mine are about 2 and 6 months, nephew is 18 months old. After the ceremony there was a reception area that we were all in. This room had really nice big windows that went down pretty low so we stood the 2 oldr kids by the windows so they could look out. Aswe are standing there talking to MIL I started to smell cigarette smoke, at the same time SIL made a comment about someone smoking in the room and there is no smoking allowed. We look around and no one is smoking. :confused3 Ok, go back to talking and then looked at the kids and had an OMG moment. On the ledge of the window was a crumbled empty cigarette package that was not there a few minutes earlier. The creepiest part? It was Camel non-filter....my FIL's brand. At the same time we looked at each other and said "Dad was here". I believe to this day that he was there and let us know it.
