Free Dining 2014 Discussion ~ Part 2

We stayed at CBR and were very disappointed with the rooms. They were dirty and showed their wear. Have not stayed at CSR but from the pics online I think we would like it better.

yeah forgot to mention the rooms .... they are dirty the linens are old... most everything has been glued back together at some point... I remember thinking how dirty the flood was .... I felt like I was sticking to it... and even stuff like the curtains looked like something out of a horror movie. the pool is fun I will give it that...

I should mention that we always rent a car so the distance thing within the resort is never and issue for us.

I read the first page. Is free dining opening up all the way through Dec or just through the fall? Thanks

Melissa

For anybody coming to this thread late today...Disney Chase Visa Free Dining promotion did NOT launch today as previously hoped. There were a couple of reports of DIS'ers actually getting free dining, but everyone else was told "not today, check back another day."

Around noon or so, someone on here called up Chase Visa and asked about the Free Dining promotion. That person was read the entire offer including the value and moderate/deluxe package codes. And they were told that the offer was valid today.

Another person here on the DIS reported that they were told the DV offer became valid at 1PM Eastern Time. A couple more DIS'ers reported being able to book the offer.

I called Disney after 1PM Eastern and talked to Emily. I asked her if we were ready to start booking the DV Free Dining. She responded immediately with, "That's tomorrow. Call at 7AM." Around the same time as I did that, others got the text of the DV Free Dining offer and noted that it was set to start on May 2nd.

Virtually everyone calling Disney after that got answers ranging from, "that offer is not valid, call back another day," to "call back tomorrow for sure."

So, if you are wondering when the Free Dining offer will be out: If you have a Disney Visa Card, call anytime after 7AM tomorrow. The offer will be made to the general public on May 7th, according to our sources here and from Chase as well.

Hope this helps.

Never stayed at CBR or CSR...any recommendations on which is better? Can someone recommend a room or building at CBR that is close to the main building at pool and bus? Never stayed there before

Both resorts are very large and require internal buses with multiple bus stops. The main difference is that Coronado Springs has queen beds and Caribbean Beach has doubles. I have heard some rumors that Caribbean Beach is going to be refurbished soon but I have no clue when that might start or if it will be done by fall. Coronado Springs is close to Animal Kingdom and a little further away from the other parks. Caribbean Beach is close to Hollywood Studios and not too far from Epcot.

I would love to book CSR but the price of two rooms is not feasible. What I do not understand is that when I look around in september it seems there are no standard rooms available anywhere. Wish this would just be over. The only good thing is that we can get the discount through run disney. When comparing the overall prices, the free dinning is slightly better for the length of our stay.

When I was looking for the time I was going POR only had standards unavailable and CSR only had 3 room categories available. It's crazy.

LOL you'd think they'd give it up now that they know Chase has handed out all the details. I mean it's not like its the internet and it will get spread around fast or anything. :rotfl2:

I dont understand their desire to keep it so hush hush.. havent they learned?? :lmao:

Alright guys so next year we hold out even more with booking!! Lol looks like a bunch of people are upset over a few of the excluded resorts, specifically noticing POR. We have to remember the more everyone books these resorts early they will end up excluded. Let's work together to keep these awesome offers coming and good luck tomorrow all ;)

I cant speak for all who pre booked, but for me its because of the need for space for family of 5, the options are slim pickins..

How much is it (again) to upgrade from QSDP to Regular dining plan? Not finding the info.

Thanks

Erm.. new here and been following all day. Lots of info so thanks to all for that. Quick question. Is anyone else having issues getting through? I have tried all the Disney lines with my mobile and my VOIP phone and call won't go through or the number is not valid.

On chat with a CM, but they seem perplexed as well. Thoughts?

The main building is no where near anything else. After you check in they have shuttles you will get on or they'll send a golf cart for you.

Bus stops are in every "island".....Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados, etc.

I have not had any issues getting through on my cell phone.

We are fans of Pop...I think that resort holds the most memories for us and that is why. But we've done moderates before and are thinking of doing a moderate for the regular dining instead of the quick. Would you save more to just pay extra for the dining and stay at Pop or would the cost be about the same to upgrade to a moderate? Kids are now 10 and 14 so that cost the same as an adult with dining. Opinions?

For DV FD tomorrow pixiedust: is there a preference of which number to call?
1-407-934-7639 or 1-407-939-7795
TIA
