For those driving to WDW, how many hours does it take for everyone?

Now this is something I def know about. I have driven to disney 5 times in the last 3 yrs. (ages 4-18) I love the drive. ( I know call me crazy). between me and df we have 6 kids, (2nd marriage for both) and I have taken the drive with all 6 of them. We normally leave around 2pm and drive straight thru taking turns driving. On the way down we are on a quest, can't wait to get there so we just keep going. Stopping? no way, we get gas, go to the bathroom, no standing around, move it people, everyone get back in the car now!!! we only have 16 more hours to go... we take pillows, blankets, we make sandwiches in the car, the cooler is always full. the dvd player is always playing, of course they bring books, cd's, travel games to keep them all busy. Our kids were great, there was actually very little fighting. We make it to disney in 23 hours. We spend that day just lounging around the room and pool. On the way home, we always take side trips. Gettysburg, arlington National Cemetery, etc. so coming home is always longer, but then it helps make it the dreaded drive home and the end of vacation a little more interesting and the kids don't seem to have the "crash" of emotions since the vacation hasn't really ended we off to see somthing interesting on our way home. :wave2:

We live about 1/2 hour north of Indianapolis and it takes us 16 hours to get to WDW. We've driven down twice - straight through both times - and that was HARD! I'd definitely split the trip if we ever drive down again (which we'll do if something happens with Delta!).

We drive most of the time, too, 6 hours was my shortest trip, 8 was my longest from Atlanta.

I remember having a DIS meet at Universal at 12noon and leaving my home at 6am, boy, it was a haul but we MADE IT!!

I love the drive down, HATE the drive back. This time we're driving a rental car down, dropping it off at MCO and driving back. I have to go to work the next day and I prefer being rested.

We call it forced togetherness! My husband and I have three boys (2 who are teenagers) who are always running in different directions. We have driven from NJ to WDW twice and have shared many laughs and funny stories while doing so. The boys seem to let their "coolness guard" down on our 19 hour trip. Before long they are singing Lion King songs in a faltering pitch along with our Disney CD. It is alot of fun and part of our vacation memories!
