So it seems like the majority of the wait was the stop for about 30 minutes (probably ride down).
Yes, ride went down. It apparently was doing it all day. We honestly got lucky with our return time as it was the lowest all day when we got it. We saw the time drop, hustled there for our time and by time we were walking away they upped the time again.

I’ll be there during opening week. I’m on the fence for whether or not to try for a return time because of this. Will probably have to play it by ear and see what appends with the ride when I’m in the area.

And I was carrying a UV umbrella - but it won’t shade all of me whilst sitting
Have you tried SPF clothing, including wide brimmed/rollable hats? I like Outdoor Research & Coolibar
which stopped at Old San Juan. Since this was my first time at this port, the explorer mode took over and the hills and quirky streets were an afterthought.
Love to visit OSJ for a few days pre cruising. The hilly terrain is challenging. Transversing the steps @ El Morro turn it into an Olympic event lol
What makes it different than what Disney does with previews between CMs, friends and families, APs, DVC, Golden Oaks and soft openings?

Lots of differences, especially when for the last 25+ years we are talking about previews for LANDS or RIDES, where you still have the full value of an existing functioning park. These previews are also FREE, included with your full park ticket.
Yes, it’s a nice diversion, especially for those with AP’s…something new to shake it up even if things go a bit awry in the process.

I cannot believe Shigeru Miyamoto was @ EPIC. :PinkbouncHe is the gamer’s GOAT!

The food was spectacular and reasonably priced a few blocks in.

Our focus was the ship itself. The newest and one of the largest put me in full exploration mode. My new YT channel, doing immediate reviews, got some attention.

Still, theme park conditioning may be real.

People for the Harry Potter ride went in line yesterday at 8:42am with a posted waittime of 195 minutes and had to wait finally 3 and a half hours.

I am talking about a European vlogger and his wife who are here to discover EU. They'll be live streaming again on opening day + the 28 when they stay in Helios.

For those that are going:

According to thrill day the park capacity for opening day is only 13K and the following day
Then it goes to 14k though the end of June.

Starting July 1st and the rest of the year is 22K

Previews were 8-10k - although I had heard higher numbers so IDK.

I'm sure if things are running well and they need to they can just up that availability.

Ministry seems to be running better - wait times fluctuate - 300 minutes is not unusual - but I've seen it half that.

Also heard that the ride profile for Ministry may have changed - so its moves more than it did but that drop is not as "big"

Anyway - going to be an interesting week

I use the Vapur bottles for my park trips, which is very similar to this bottle. I like that the carabiner clip can be used to keep the bottle folded up when empty/not in use
OMG - I have used Vapur bottles for more than a decade and never realized you can use the caliber to keep it rolled up! I’ve been carrying around rubber bands to hold them all this time.

I slather up in sunscreen, so I’m not worried about sun exposure in that way - I use an umbrella for reducing heat from the sun, and the UV kind works best for that. But sitting down, the umbrella won’t cover my legs and feet.

I'm still going back and forth what I wanna do Saturday

Here's what I bring to every theme park ever:

Nothing.

Seriously, I literally just bring my ID, phone, and two credit cards in case one isn't accepted. MAYBE a new rain poncho that I can stuff into a pocket.

And that's it. You THINK you'll be freaking out about needing something, but I find it wildly liberating.
We do the same thing. I just have the Universal tickets/resort ID on a lanyard. I carry one CC, a little cash, my pills, and that's it. My husband usually wears cargo pants and we use those big pockets if needed. They come in handy for a foldable umbrella. I also have my cell phone too. I carry these few items in my small waist bag with the 3 prong closure. I've never been asked to stow it away on any ride. I find it to be small and handy and doesnt get in the way.

Visiting Universal has really changed how I think about what I carry in general! lol.

If DH is there, he wears his "Disney" shorts. (Yes, he refers to cargos as Disney shorts, even at home ). If he's not with us, either DD or I have some zipper pocket shorts we rotate in so we can put our phones in those for certain rides. We bring a small waist bag for pills and my prescription glasses (so I can go from sunglasses to regular). If we decide to do refillable cups and sunscreen, a stringbag for those and leave the waist bag at the hotel.

I've never been into bags, but have always carried a small purse in everyday life. My Gen Z daughter a few years back started using phone wallets. OMG I couldn't live without one now! I use a different one than she does. Mine snaps closed like a wallet and fits more in it.

I haven't read the last few days posts yet. So I apologize in advance if some of this was said already.

We were there 5/17&18. Both days Mine Cart and Werewolf were down the whole day.
Saturday, arrived at the gates around 745, they opened security at 8, and it was a slow process to get thru. There was no separation of hotel guest/non hotel guest. Went right to MOM, they said hotel guests to the left, everyone else to the right. But then it turns out the line for the ride was to the left for everyone regardless of guest status... That was annoying. At 9, they started letting people into the queue. Walked pretty much thru the first room, then got stuck in the outdoor area. Waited an hour and a half, then bailed. Ride didn't start running till after 1030. The line got up to as high as 300 min. Ended up getting back in line around 500, again got to the outdoor area and got stuck. Finally got on the ride at 745, Glad we rode it, but would never wait that long again. It was a great ride, but not waste 4 hours, good.
Mario Cart was over an hour all day, so we decided we'd hit that during EPA the next day. Rode both sides of Stardust. To me it's a combo of Velocicoaster and Space Mountain lol. It's fast like Velocicoaster, but rough like SM. Even my 13 yr old had a headache.
Monsters was a pretty short line, it was a fun ride. But not something I need to ride repeatedly. We also rode Dragon Rally Racers, which is like a 45 sec ride. Not worth the wait at all. Got wands and did all the spells. That was probably my favorite part of the day. Ate at Atlantic. That was pretty good.

Sunday, got there at 715. Again, didn't get thru the line until 815 or so. Went to Nintendo world. Only Yoshi was running. They opened the queue for Bowsers, but it didn't start running until 1030. Just as we were about to give up, they started running it. The rest of the day the line was 80+ min. So glad we stuck it out. Mine Cart and Werewolf were still closed all day, so we never got to do those. We did Stardust again, saw Le Cirque Arcanus, which was great, did some more spells, ate at Le Goblet Noir, and did Hiccups Wing Glider.

Both days at some point every single ride was delayed or closed at one time or another. Monsters was probably the most consistent ride as far as being running and having a decent wait time.

Im glad we got to experience it with lower crowds. But they are in no way ready to open Thursday. I knew going in there was a chance things might not be running and I'm still irritated at paying full price for the experience, but like I said, I knew that was a chance I was taking. I think ppl will be upset to go after official opening and have this happen. We spent 6 hours to ride 2 rides between the 2 days. With Mine Cart and Werewolf being down, and the waits being so high for the 2 big rides, it seemed like there wasn't as much to do. Yoshi's was almost an hour every time I checked and it's not worth that long of a wait. Fyre Drill was 45-60 mins.

It will be a beautiful park at night. I'm supposed to go back in Sept. Hopefully everything will be running by then and we'll get to do the 2 rides we missed.
