My mom had green eyes, my dad brown. My brother has green eyes & I have blue/green eyes. My ex has brown eyes. My son has dark brown eyes, and my daughter has light brown w/hints of green.
I have hazel eyes, but the rest of my siblings have blue eyes, so for the sake of argument, let's say I carry the blue eye gene. My DH is brown eyes.
I have 3 kids...the two boys have brown eyes like their dad, and my DD has the most stunning blue eyes possible. (THAT came from my crappy hazel eyes )
The boys also favor my DH's family in looks, and my DD is a literal CLONE of my mom. I have pictures of my mom as a baby, and again as a 7-8 year old, and the resemblense(sp?) is scary.
So, I have always just assumed that if we had anymore kids, a boy would favor DH and a girl would favor me.
Interesting thread, does anyone remember the "green eyes" thread from a while back?
I have hazel eyes, thick brown hair, DH has cornflower blue eyes, thin blonde hair. DD has thick wavy blonde hair and light blue/green eyes exactly like my Dad's. Her skin is translucent white (think Nicole Kidman), and her personality traits are mostly my side of the family. Redheads on both sides, she got the complexion sans freckles but not the hair color.
My Sister & BIL both have brown eyes.....and both my nephew and niece have light blue eyes. One time the doctor asked my Sister if the kids were adopted?? She said no they are both mine. He then told her that is not possible for her to have kids with such light blue eyes when they both have dark brown! My grandmother had light blue eyes, and my BIL's mother has blue eyes ~ that doctor is just loony!!!
I have blue eyes, my husband brown, but he has the recessive blue eye gene since his dad has blue eye. We therefore have a 50/50 chance of blue/brown eye and we have 2 children with blue, 2 with brown, just what we should have.
We have 1 girl and 3 boys, though, so the boy/girl ratio didn't work out so well.
Well, it's not exactly what you asked, but I have brown eyes, my husband has green, and my son has blue?? My dad is the only grandparent who has blue eyes, so he really got the luck of the draw there... I also have the red hair gene in my family (lthough it isn't the bright orangey red, it's more of a strawberry blonde/brown) and my son has dark blonde/light brown hair with not a hint of red...
Dh has brown, I have blue, DS is dark brown (much darker than dh's) and DD has green (my mom has green). My brother is very blue with red hair, married and Italian (very dark) oldest and youngest dd's are brown haired and brown eyed like we expected all his kids to be. But middle dd has platinum blonde hair and blue eyes! She got my hair, my kids didn't, but my niece did!
I have brown hair and eyes and my ex has brown hair and hazel eyes. Both of my girls are blue eyed blondes. When my oldest was small eveyone always asked where she got the blue eyes and blonde hair from, my ex always laughed and said the mailman. Six years later when my younger DD was born a few were shocked that the same mailman was still hanging around! LOL
My mom had blue eyes and brown hair, dad has brown eyes and brown hair. I came out with hazel eyes and brown hair. It's really weird, when a picture is taken of me, my eyes are the same color of whatever the background is. Of course it only works if the backgrounds are blue, green, or brown. Any other colors don't work. LOL!!! Does this happen to anyone else who has hazel eyes?
DH has brown eyes and brown hair and both DS and DD have baby blues and blonde hair. LOL!!! Talk about DH giving me looks when the kids turned out with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Thank goodness the samething happened to my aunt and uncle {my dad's brother} when their DD's were born. Both DD's have blonde hair and blue eyes.
