I'm all caught up and I can't believe how much you were able to accomplish on day one of star wars weekends! You guys were on fire!

I've never been to a SWW and its one of my big Disney regrets. Maybe next year I'll get my chance. I just need Everett to get a little bigger and become a Star Wars fan, he'll help me convince DH!

Oh, and I think that your run-in with Anakin's mom was pretty funny. Why on earth would you do that to your child? I just don't understand why people name their children strange things.

We will see. I would love to go down in October or December but school and money get in the way. Plus Erich has said that he will not use his cast member perks to get us a discounted room or free entry. He says he will not even tell us where he is going to be working!

May 22nd continued

It was time to find a spot to watch the parade. Well, it turns out they had shortened the parade route drastically, it was only running up Hollywood Blvd to the Sorcerer's Hat. In the past it ran all the way to Star Tours. Needless to say the parade route was packed! We squeezed our way into a spot on the sidewalk next to a bench. We were not in the front row but we had a good enough spot that we could get pictures without much trouble.

It was stinking hot, we were standing in the sun with no shade and no way of getting relief because if we moved we would lose our spot. It was wall to wall people all up and down the street.

Erich and I were both taking pictures. They are not going to be in any particular order as I am too lazy to organize the two sets of photos.

Erich snapped a picture of this girl. Wonder how she managed to get her hair
up like this and keep it like that in the park all day?

About half the people in the parade are fans with their own costumes and the other half are Disney employees.

After the parade we ducked into the closest gift shop to cool off in the air conditioning, we were practically melting from staying outside for so long. The air conditioning was wonderful and the time we spent cooling off allowed the crowds to disperse a bit before we went back outside.

Unfortunately we could not avoid the crowds as they had all merely moved up the street to the Sorcerer's Hat for the celebrity round table. We pretty much just had to push our way through the crowd to get to our next destination...

Sorry for the lack of updates this week. To make up for it I have some news. Erich got accepted to the Disney Internship program offered as a partnership between his program, a Florida college and Disney. So he will be working at Disney for 6 months starting this summer! No idea where or doing what yet but I am excited for him and kinda jealous.

Yay, how exciting! That's exactly how I felt when my sister got accepted into the College Program.

I am not a huge Star Wars fan but Jedi Mickey is so cute! Awesome parade pictures.

I hope so! We will have to wait and see if he allows it. He is always trying to keep me on a budget and lecturing about student debt.

It was torture. So so hot. We had been pretty lucky with the temperature during most of the trip but those last few days in the parks were killer.

Dh, DS and I were at a local St. Patricks day parade this past weekend, and a branch of the 501st was marching in it! I thought it was so cool to see Darth Vader and the storm troopers. Of course, I have no idea what they have to do with St. Patricks day, but Vader was wearing a "Kiss Me I'm Irish" pin. It was pretty hilarious!

Do you know if there are lots of 501st groups around the country? I can't imagine they are the same people that are at SWW?

May 22nd continued

We fought our way through the crowds that had gathered around the stage set-up in front of the Sorcerer's Hat. We were headed to the animation building, I wanted to go to the animation class again and see what characters were out for photos.

A class had just started when we arrived so we took a seat in the waiting area. I didn't mind waiting as it allowed us to cool off and enjoy the air conditioning.

When we went into the room a couple people who had gone in before us sat down at some tables and then decided to move places. They took the paper and pencils that were at the first desks with them. This, of course, left those who came in after them with no paper or pencils so our class got a bit of a late start as they had to go around and make sure that everybody had their supplies.

Once we did get started it was decided that we would draw Dopey! Fun!

I think mine turned out fairly well, especially considering I can't usually draw a stick person.

After the class I went and got in line for Winnie The Pooh, the boys were not interested so they wandered off to play some of the games they have set up in the building.

I found the boys after I got my picture. They had been playing with the game that allows you to dub your voice into a scene from a Disney movie. They did Aladdin and Bambi. Here are their dubbed versions:

This is a lot of fun and pretty hilarious, try it out if you have the time!

It was now time to use the Toy Story fastpasses we had picked up at the beginning of the day. I didn't have to ride alone this time around, Erich went solo this time.

My score is the blue side.

I may not get the high score but my accuracy is always better!


We were feeling drained by this point but we decided to make one last pass through the Star Wars areas to see what characters were out. We were pretty lucky and ran into some Tusken Raiders and Jawa's. The boys were pretty excited about that.

It was now 3pm, we were hot and tired and we had done pretty much everything that we wanted to do so we left the park. It was so hot that we decided to do something that we do not usually do, we took the tram from the entrance to the parking lot. Usually we don't see any point to taking the tram as it only takes a few minutes to walk but it was just so hot and we were so tired.

When we got back to the hotel there was no sign of Mom in the room and housekeeping had not been by yet. Turns out Mom was hanging out at the main pool, I decided to go to the Quiet Pool and the boys stayed in the room. I just floated around in the water for awhile, and then Mom showed up as the boys had told her where I had gone when she got back to the room.

We went back to the room and got ready to go out for dinner. We wanted to have Olive Garden for dinner that night.

Unfortunately when we arrived the Olive Garden parking lot was completely full, not a single parking space was open, that did not signal a good wait time for a table so we scratched the plan of Olive Garden and just went across the street to Pizza Hut and got some pizzas to take back to the room.

As we were eating the pizza I was beginning to not feel so well. The pizza was tasting rather bland and my throat was feeling kinda scratchy. I didn't think much about it, just assumed I was probably tired and a bit dehydrated, nothing a good nights sleep wouldn't fix...

That evening we hooked the camera up to the tv to review our pictures for the day as was our nightly tradition and then we fell asleep watching Harry Potter which had also become a nightly ritual.

Anakin as a name is not so bad, it is just the character association. It is not like naming your kid Kal-El (Nicholas Cage) or something silly like that. I, myself, am named after a character from a book. My dad named me after one of the main characters in The Dragonriders of Pern science fiction novels.
