EXPIRED: Part ONE of 2015 CLUB LEVEL (CL) INFORMATION and HELP Thread DO NOT POST HERE!!!

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize the fireworks would be so far off to the left of the castle when viewing at the GF (never stayed there before). So Ill just know that I can make request or I'm sure there are other places where we could watch from at the resort as well. Thanks again for the photo!

The best place to watch Wishes is from MK of course. :) But you can watch from various places around the monorail as well. At the GF there's a nice view from the boat dock, or from Gasparilla's around the marina, or Narcoosee's porch. We actually liked walking through Boca Chica and out the other side to watch from the grass at the waters edge. It always felt really quiet and private out there. The Polynesian beach is another favorite for lots of people, also the Contemporary has a viewing area up at the California Grill. :goodvibes

Here's a pic I took from that grassy area behind Boca Chica :)

Just out of curiosity, how much control do you give the IPO over your vacations?

We just got our welcome packet from IPO and honestly I booked everything I wanted to before we upgraded to CL, so really all I need now is a room request (for a king bed) and possibly DME (haven't decided if we're getting a car service yet or not).

What else would I tell them?

Personally I don't really use them. Occasionally for a special event or hard to find ADR. That's about it. I give my DME info and room requests to CRO. I think you can use them as little or as much as you feel you need to. :thumbsup2

O.K. Thanks!

Forgive me... CRO?

Also with CL do you do online check-in? Or just check-in with CL when you get there? Sorry I haven't done this before!!! :)

CRO... Central reservations office, that's for room-only reservations ... WDWTC... Walt Disney World Travel Company handles packages. Basically it's just whoever answers the phone when you dial 407WDISNEY. ;)

I've been doing online check-in for club level stays the last several times and had good luck with it. :) I would recommend!

Or if you're working with a TA they would handle it. :) You'd think as a TA myself I would have said that first! :lmao:

It's so funny, when we stayed at YC in 2013, it was basically the last CL still giving out bottled water, (but you had to ask for it). We were considering getting a pack of water delivered, but we may just bring our contigo bottles and just fill them with the glass bottles of water they offer. We end up using up like 4 bottles, but we need water gosh darn it! We find a way around the system!

I booked a Deluxe room with CL at the Beach Club at the end of April for 2 nights yesterday!! I'm very excited! My DH and I are arriving before the rest of our family, and we will move over to a 2 BR villa at OKW.

I am wondering how long it takes for IPO to get in touch with us.

It seems on our other CL stays they contacted us immediately.

Go ahead and contact them. I rarely get a welcome email anymore. Probably only about 25% of the time, if even that. There's no reason to wait. :thumbsup2

With all due respect, I beg to differ. The Contemporary is a far better location, especially the CL lounge or a good table at the newly remodeled Cali Grill.

I just watched Wishes from the park last week. Not only did we have the jostle of the throng, but our view was largely obstructed my multiple folks holding up cell phones! Argh! It was so annoying! There was no escape, I was forced to watch the show basically from the video screen of their phones!

I'd also forgotten how bad it is trying to escape after the show is over.

Watching Wishes from the lounge, with plenty of room, a comfy seat, piped music and a cute little dessert in my hand is far superior.

Sitting in a comfy chair in the lounge eating dessert is nice. But visually to me there is no comparison between this:

But don't get me wrong, I love the CR and their lounge. I'm just purely looking at this from the best vantage point of the show. Visually.

Just back form AKL, and a few quick things to share:

1.) NO texting service at AKL. the CM didn't even know what I was talking about.

2.) Appetizers are less than some other lounges, or maybe they are all cutting back. Last summer, we thought the CR offerings were also less than prior trips.

3.) Breakfast at CR is among the best! Loved hot Quinoa, and plenty of fresh berries! More berries than any other lounge! Most others only serve melon, maybe pineapple, maybe grapes, and standard industrial apples/oranges/bananas.

4.) Maybe it was just the week we chose, but the DVC folks seemed to bring a different atmosphere to the CL. Having stayed at ALL CL, we saw things we've never seen before. The DVC folks continuously camped out in the lounge at specific tables. It was clear they'd 'claimed' specific tables, and were very possessive! Families would send a runner to 'their' table' until the rest of the gang arrived. A fist fight nearly happened when a man attempted to borrow an EMPTY chair from another table!!! It was crazy! One man even napped in "his spot" on the couch to keep possession of it most of the day/evening!
Another man had a spot staked out at the runner table next to the buffet- standing. As soon as the CM's brought out certain prime appetizers- he swooped in and grabbed half a tray for himself. (the gourmet meat spoon appetizers) No plate, just put his clutch of spoons directly on the table! On the cloth runner! And left them there empty when he was done! Who does that? :crazy2:

During the football game, I'd expect some folks to watch the game, and cheer. This group was very loud. Folks were cussing (with little kids present), overtly intoxicated, and yelling. It was so loud the first floor could hear the cussing!

It was just very different from what I've seen in any other lounges over many stays. It was pretty clear it was mostly DVC folks occupying the same tables at every meal for hours. (periodically one person would get up to go back to the room).

It is hard to describe in a post the impact it had on the atmosphere of the lounge. The staff was very nice, and did their best to be helpful, to replenish food.

I do enjoy this! Our kids really wanted to see Wishes from MK again. So I made a deal with them - MK fireworks from MK only if we book the dessert party. It's not the best value, but it makes fireworks in the park more enjoyable.

Just love the Poly and CR lounges for fireworks. My dad and husband wouldn't go into MK at fireworks time for anything. But my mom loves fireworks. During our marathon weekend stay, we upgraded my parents from the room they booked at POFQ to Poly CL and seeing my mom watch the fireworks from the lounge was priceless!

Boo to your AKL CL experience. :( We were there for just one night earlier this month and all was well, but we were not there on a game day and it was just one night. Definitely fewer appetizers than at Poly or GF, I thought. But I loved the cheese selection, so I was happy. Unfortunately, our kids loved the appetizers so much that they didn't have much room left for our Boma dinner. I said never again to the CL and Boma combo!

Same here! I usually don't have much to say anymore, but I contact them with room requests. Just initiated contact with WL IPO and received a response - they seem like a really friendly bunch. Hearing so many good things about CL at WL lately. And of course, your story is incredible!

Oh no , I'm so sorry for your experience. It doesn't sound very magical :( DH and I will be there in less than 2 weeks. We have never stayed CL anywhere before. AKL is our favorite resort and we are going for our anniversary trip without kids.. Hopefully your experience was not the norm.
