Excuse me, you'll need to see security. What has Mickeystoontown done? Update 3/25x2

Keeping John's mom in my prayers!

Backing up a bit...we buy those drinks with the marble all the time. Our kids love them! There's a plunger at the top that you remove and push the marble down into the drink. It really doesn't do much to the drink except fizz it up a bit and roll around, but the girls think it's pretty cool. We get them at a local store here.

I've never noticed that door in China, but then again, we really don't spend a lot of time there. We wander through, but not enough to notice much.

I don't think I've ever seen someone actually carving any of the wood pieces at the Outpost, either. I would really enjoy that! Maybe I'll have to stalk it next time.

How has the carriage held up? I've heard some people say that they tarnished quickly and others rave about them. I thought about getting one for myself.

It did tarnish. It looked good when we first got it, but I think she only wore it a few times before it started turning. I'd like to find one in sterling silver or similar, but have yet to find one. I'll keep looking though.

Okay I am going to post something that might make Lisa not want to be my friend anymore, but I am going to post it anyway! (and Lisa I truly hope you don't mind). I was reading about the wonderful Mr. Spence and I thought, I am not surprised Lacey has great in-laws she comes from wonderful folks! Just a tiny backstory so you know how this came about. My youngest daughter was blessed with a MAW trip last year and Lisa began following our story (she was a master at lurking, I had no idea). Not looking for sympathy, just sharing, but there isn't always a lot of money left over for luxuries after paying the medical bills (we have several ill family members). Lisa saw a need and reached out to us and I HAVE to share (PLEASE don't ask me to remove it Lisa, I know everyone here loves you and it was the highlight of our week). If you want to see what Lisa and John did, please read here.

Now I have been deprived, I didn't even realize I had a kindred spirt so close to my heart posting her own TR...I live in the dark sometimes...but I am slowly catching up, reading from the front end of the TR as well as trying to keep up on the back end.

Lisa, please know I am praying for John's Mom and I HOPE she listens to the doctors and follows his treatment plan. I know getting these parents to do what we want isn't always easy.

LOVED the latest updates, Rachel would have LOVED that Gummy Bear, she asked for a 5 pound one for her birthday. I convinced her that wasn't a great idea! :lmao: Now the caramel, THAT looked good to me! Rachel and Lisa did the Pick a Pearl on our trip, and it was so much fun but VERY crowded. YOu could hardly get to the front of the place to view, even when it was your turn to pick. I am not surprised John loves woodworking/carving, I think he and Dvid would get along...somewhere in all my reading the past week, I remember seeing ya'll had built your house almost all yourselves and John had made you a hutch...I am confused WHERE I read it though?

I will be back to catch up some more later.

Thank you so much!

Are you getting any of the icy weather up your way?

The carver is over to the side of the Outpost. There have been times that we've passed by and he wasn't there. I don't know if he has a certain schedule or if it's just random but I do know that we've seen him many times.

I've got to try one of those drinks. Even if it's just for the "neat" factor.

It did tarnish. It looked good when we first got it, but I think she only wore it a few times before it started turning. I'd like to find one in sterling silver or similar, but have yet to find one. I'll keep looking though.

I've read that people had put clear nailpolish on the cages to keep them from tarnishing. I forgot to look at your ticker....are you going to Disney any time soon? They have several settings that are not that expensive. I know that one of mine was about $20.

Judy, I'm not upset with you at all. As I've mentioned before, my family got the biggest joy out of sending you the gift. It made our hearts sing to see the pure delight on your children's faces. I just wish that I had come out of lurkdom a lot sooner. I guess the timing just wasn't right. God knows all and he knew when we needed each other the most. :grouphug:

Please do pray for John's mother. We spoke to John's daddy a night or two ago and I can already tell that this is going to be an uphill battle. They aren't the sort to follow doctor's orders no matter the situation.

Oh gracious! A 5 pound gummy bear? Where in the world do you get those? Maybe, you shouldn't tell me or Hunter will be asking me to order one. :rotfl:

John loves any sort of woodworking. It wasn't until we started building our house that I really knew how good he was at it. He always worked for someone else so I never got to see his work. Once the house started, I was able to see just how good he was. The man is a wonder with wood. You should see the checkerboards he makes. Gorgeous! I'm not so sure that I'd have the patience to sit and do the intricate work that he and David do.

Speaking of which, what type of wood does David use to make his pens? They are beautiful!::yes::

Yes, you did read that we built our house ourselves. We live in a log home and we had someone stack the logs and, of course, we had to have licensed plumbers and electricians. Other than that, we did it all. We built it before Hunter was born so it was just John, Lacey and I. Every once in a while, my two brother-in-laws would come and help. It was a lot of work but every time I look at my house, I think "we did that!". It makes me appreciate it all the more.

The Pick A Pearl section of Japan does get pretty crowded! There have been times when you couldn't even squeeze in when it was your turn.

I hope John's mom is feeling better!!

Sometimes there are too many souvenir choices to make a decision between them all!!

Thank you!

The China pavilion is similar to the cereal aisle at the grocery store......just too much to choose from!

I think it's cool that John and the woodcarver had a nice chat (with your help, of course)

I have no idea what we are going to do when John gets older. I guess get him one of these:

images

Really beautiful pictures from China! Thanks for sharing about the door. I have never seen that before. I love all of the little details at Disney.

Disney is THE best at adding in details such as the doors in China.

Oh, my, my sons better not find out about the swords. They would so want that as a souvenir. My youngest son likes to get the wooden rifles from Adventure land when we are at MK.

Did you have to pay the Florida sales tax on the sword? I have been told that if you ship the item to home, you don't need to pay the sales tax. Now I don't know if that depends on the tax laws in your state. But we have found that not having to pay the sales tax helps defray the cost of shipping (somewhat)

I remember the story of him buying the gun at the MK!

You know what? When I was going through the stuff that I need to get ready for taxes, I found my 2012 WDW folder and it had all of the receipts in it. I think the sword receipt is in there. I'm going to go look and I'll post the tax and shipping costs.

So John takes napping to a whole new level? I'm picturing him sleeping at the top of the pyramid.

I laughed outloud at that comment! Wouldn't that be a funny sight!?!

That's funny. It's opposite for me and dh. I swear we are always in on two totally different conversations. He is always "translating" for me.

At least you and John have translators! I can always tell when John can't really hear what somebody is saying but doesn't want to admit it. He just smiles and nods his head.

That's a shame the swords went up in price so much. I've noticed that with alot of the merchandise lately.

I noticed it too. The price of some of the t-shirts is way out of my range.

Glad he found one of his liking and was able to afford it.

I wondered about how you'd get it out of the park.

Hunter's birthday is May 24th and he's spent 13 of his 15 birthdays in Walt Disney World. We have his birthday party before we go and he usually gets money so he'll have souvenir money.

I was waiting for you to say someone opened the door, lol.

When I was knocking, I wondered if somebody would really say "Who's there?"

Speaking of napping, there is a nice ledge at the side of the Giggle Gang show where John can nap too ;)

I'll be sure to tell him. He's always up for a good nap.

I will keep John's MIL in my prayers. Did they do doppler studies of the arteries? The little strokes is what my mom had. I wish they'd have caught them earlier. I believe that is what led to my mom's dementia.

LOVE Germany! That caramel store is not good for the hips!:faint:
So sad to learn Hunter won't be able to get his giant gummy bear any more.

Thank you for telling the "trick" to picking a good oyster. Taking my DD this summer and I will be sure to pass that one along. Every year she wants to do a Pick A Pearl. I've not given in before, but maybe, just maybe!

Fun updates!

Thank you for the prayers! We aren't really sure what they've done so far. I hate to say this but John's parents do not pay attention to what a doctor tells them and they don't ask many questions.

The caramel store is definitely not good for the hips or my waistline. Good thing we were walking it off.

Tell her to pick the ugliest, hairest oyster she sees. Mind had all sorts of hairs coming out of it and it looked moldy.

Sorry to hear about John's mom. I hope that she's doing better soon.

Love the China photos, especially the close ups of the buildings. They're so beautiful!

I'm glad Hunter got his sword. He must have quite a collection now!

Hopefully, John's mother will do as the doctor says. We shall see.

Aren't the buildings in China beautiful! Such bright colors and lots of details.

I don't know how many swords Hunter has now. I know it's a lot!

Lifting John's mom up, his daddy and all of you as you try to help them navigate this new path.

We've never really looked at the settings at the store before. We're going from June 1-12, so we'll have to look at them while there. Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

They are in the case near the cash register. It's sometimes hard to get to because of the crowds but, if a castmember sees you trying to look, they'll ask others to move aside if they aren't buying anything.

Dee, I found the receipt for Hunter's sword. The sword was $95.00 and the shipping was $22.00. The receipt shows a sales tax of 6.5% but then beside it is: $0.00. ??? The total doesn't show that they charged us tax at all. There were quite a few swords and daggers that weren't as pricey but Hunter had a little extra money to spend. And, the sword that he picked out was pretty big and it was heavy so that probably had something to do with the cost of the shipping.

You'll be driving again in May, right? I love the t-shirt selection at the Walmart on Turkey Lake Road. Turkey Lake runs parallel to I-4. That's where I get the Grumpy t's for ds. If you have a b-day celebration at Disney, the Publix in Celebration is the best Publix around! They make fabulous cakes. Onetreehill got a gorgeous Mickey cake for her DS there.

Thats so funny that John had you take a picture of him "coming" out of the door! Such a bid kid!

Love the story about your gift! You truly are a special family and I'm so proud to call you "friend". Now if only our trips would line up so we could meet face to face....

Off topic a bit...I've been following your FB posts about Hunter driving. I can feel your pain as my oldest got his license in September! It's a big step!! Now Isaiah will get his permit in May and we start all over....OY!

Keeping John's mom in my prayers.

You are SO right!!! :thumbsup2

I am thankful you let me know you were there Lisa and it WAS God's timing. He knew I needed that touch from Him just when I did. I still tear up thinking how He brought you to me!
Please do pray for John's mother. We spoke to John's daddy a night or two ago and I can already tell that this is going to be an uphill battle. They aren't the sort to follow doctor's orders no matter the situation.

I really DO get that, My prayers are intensified for the situation.

Oh gracious! A 5 pound gummy bear? Where in the world do you get those? Maybe, you shouldn't tell me or Hunter will be asking me to order one. :rotfl:
Rachel found it online somewhere (I saw them on Amazon)...She would never have eaten it all and they were pricey...I just couldn't see buying something like that...but those in Epcot would have been perfect, so sad to read they are gone.

John loves any sort of woodworking. It wasn't until we started building our house that I really knew how good he was at it. He always worked for someone else so I never got to see his work. I told David John loved woodworking and I quote" I bet he has a nice wood shop"...I love checkers, I bet those are gorgeous!

Speaking of which, what type of wood does David use to make his pens? They are beautiful!::yes::

He uses cedar, maple, oak, pecan as well as acrylic blanks...He needs a lathe , he has been saving his money. We just haven't found the right type yet, he wants to be able to turn bowls and other pieces in addition to pens. I wish he would make me some more things for the house. I love my cabinet he made, he designed and made me some simple bookcases (I couldn't find the right size) and more...you probably have seen some of what he has done. He is still learning and I am so happy he enjoys it.

That is amazing! David wanted to know if it was one or two stories and how big it is. He was fascinated and you should have such a great feeling each time you look at it,. That was a HUGE labor of love!
The Pick A Pearl section of Japan does get pretty crowded! There have been times when you couldn't even squeeze in when it was your turn.
I believe that, it was packed for us! The girls loved it. I wanted to do it as well; however, was happy to live vicariously through them!
Love the story about your gift! You truly are a special family and I'm so proud to call you "friend". Now if only our trips would line up so we could meet face to face....
Lisa and family are incredibly amazing! I feel so thankful and blessed to know them.
Off topic a bit...I've been following your FB posts about Hunter driving. I can feel your pain as my oldest got his license in September! It's a big step!! Now Isaiah will get his permit in May and we start all over....OY!
We have two down and two to go on the driving...Rachel is up next in April, it still makes me :scared1::scared1:
Keeping John's mom in my prayers.

I am as well Lisa!:hug:

Just wanted to let you know that I'm reading your TR!!! I really enjoyed reading about your first day at Disney and your cruise. I'm sorry that you guys didn't really enjoy the cruise part. We've never been on one but we are considering it in the future.

You know you made a couple of comments about the food on the cruise. My DH has that problem with all of the food at Disney because it isn't seasoned well like we do here in Louisiana. :confused3

I'm sorry to hear about all the rude people on the cruise. It surely didn't sound Disney like!!

O.k. I'll come back soon to read more about your DIsney trip after the cruise!

Dee, I found the receipt for Hunter's sword. The sword was $95.00 and the shipping was $22.00. The receipt shows a sales tax of 6.5% but then beside it is: $0.00. ??? Why do I think there is some policy that they don't charge the tax with the shipping? I know it is something like that, but I'm not quite sure.

Great update, Lisa. Love the photos of you ringing the bell and John just "exiting" the door. You two are so darn cute.

I can't wait to hear about the next nap. :rotfl2::rotfl2:
