DVC Survey

On Friday I received an invitation from DVC to take an on-line survey related to DVC. I was going to type the letter out verbatim here to share with my DVC friends, but I think I threw it out after completing the survey.

To paraphrase, the letter indicated that a select number of members were being asked for their opinions on a number of DVC matters, and that the results would be shared with members at the condo meetings this fall.

It took about 10 minutes to complete the entire survey on-line. It seemed to mostly focus on the present, and rarely asked "what would you think if we..." type of questions. And, NO, there was no mention whatsoever of a discount on Annual Passes or other ticket media.

All of the questions were multiple choice, except for a few occasions when I was asked for free-form comments.

Here are some samples of questions that I can recall:

How far out do you typically book your stays?

There were several questions used go gauge the percent of time that I would stay at my Home resort in the next 3 years vs. other resorts.

I was asked to rank the frequency with which I use current discounts. Categories included Theme Park Dining, Resort Dining, Downtown Disney Dining, UPH, Disney Store Discount and the member Golf program. Available response options were basically Frequently, Sometimes and Never.

They asked the preferred method of booking stays. I think the options were Phone, Email, Website and Fax.

I was asked to rank the current status of the web site. I ranked it pretty low and was asked for specific comments which included on-line bookings, point balances, etc. I also mentioned that I thought they should make the member site more warm and friendly toward members--include info on Community Hall programs, boat and bike rental prices, even restaurant menus.

Some mention was made of the Member Homecoming, but I don't exactly remember the context.

They asked me to rank different areas of DVC itself such as Member Services, Accounting, etc.

They asked if I had ever booked rental cars / flights / hotels through DVC's travel agency.

That's all I can think of now. If more come to mind, I'll add to the post later.

Anyone else get one of these letters? I know the letter asked for a response by November 8th, so I guess anyone who was sent a survey request should have gotten it by now.

I got one after my May OKW trip but it asked about what parks I went to on which days and if I used early entry. Was more general, not related to DVC.

It will be interesting to see what they say about pass discounts at the annual meeting. A member always brings it up during the question and answer session. Probably the same "we know members want pass discounts and we're looking into it..... ". If we do get a discount, I think that is when they will announce it. I went to the meeting in 2000 and when this question came up they were proud to announce the new 4 out of 5 year PH pass, which I don't think too many people bought.

I filled out the same survey (various question about how we use our DVC... last trip on points... do we make use of "Adventure Collection" and such -- how much do we use the internet). I was glad they asked :)

Yes, we responded to the survey too. They also asked where we had stayed if we had traded out of DVC within the past 12 months.

We were happy we received the survey, but a little surprised it took so long to receive and almost missed the cutoff date. The letter was dated 10/27 and we didn't get it until 11/6 and the survey had to be completed by 11/8.

It sounds like the typical survey we've heard about from Disney from time to time....as if they've decided to do something and are seeing if it will make much of a difference.

Not really looking for input on how to improve things, but rather feedback on whether a path they are pursuing is the right one. It's a perfectly valid reason to survey, and probably the most efficient.

But I'm sure it's a little frustrating that they don't at least add one last question about "How can your DVC experience be improved?"

Thanks for sharing the survey contents.

I got the letter yesterday and just finished filling out the survey this a.m. (Sunday.) I also rated the web-site very low and gave them my 2 cents about what they should do about it. The two things I found interesting, first they asked if we own another T/S, which we do. Then they wanted to know which one. They also asked which collections we use. When I said we only go the WDW, they asked why we never use World Passport. I also told my opinion about better ticket discounts. Doubt this will ever happen. I think more info on the website would be my main request right now, and I really can't see why it would be so hard to do. We trade our other T/S through RCI and they have had a pretty good site for years.....Lacee

We just got the letter today and it's also the last day to take the survey. I don't know why we were picked, we haven't even stayed on our points yet. We bought back in Aug 2003 and we're only using them for the first time in Dec 04. Does it take a long time? I'll try to get it done tonight.

I just got the letter today ... with due date of "today." I quickly completed the survey during my lunch break.

New Yorkers must have received them today as we just got ours. I'm a little upset as my husband received letter and did the survey but I make all reservations. He didn't wait for me but his questions included questions about park tickets. We must have received different set of questions. I just wished he had waited for me to give my imput on the questions.

I got one on Monday and hurried to fill it out since it was due Monday. I think some of the questions didn't fit me. I didn't want to answer them but I had to fill in every blank. They should have put an answer " does not apply". I rated the site low also. It isn't even as good as before and should be better. I did comment on as many questions as I could. I hope they will pay attention to what we say.

I received my letter yesterday here in North Carolina, and went ahead and completed the online survey last night. I must have overlooked the deadline in the letter...I guess it's a good thing I took care of it right away!

In general, I responded with pretty high ratings. (What can I say, I'm a happy customer! :earsboy: ) Like some of the other posters, I did ding them on the web site quality, and made a number of specific suggestions, covering everything from needed additional features to broader browser support (that is, not just Internet Explorer). I also used the final comment box to make a plug for "non-smoking" as a room type when making reservations.

I received my survey in last night's mail but couldn't respond until this morning, the 9th. I pointed this out in the comments section where I had to comment about taking the survey. Mine asked about different ticket options and I did take the time to put in comments about how a discount for us other than the current one offered would be better. I don't know who mailed these but it's upsetting to know we don't receive them in time to take the survey.

we recieved our survey last night, we get our mail late after 5pm and i almost forgot to get the mail, so i ran out about 7pm and the survey was in the pile of mail. i started reading it and couldnt believe we had to respond by nov. 8th. i quickly sat down and started the survey then dh decided it would be better for him to peck at the keys to complete the survey. he said i was pondering on each question to long.

i think if DVC is sending out surveys or any other important info like the members cruise, they need to figure in the mailing process before they give a deadline.

look at all the people that didnt get their members cruise info in the mail until after the date to call and like someone said if it wasnt for this board they would have never known about the cruise.
::yes::

Has ANYBODY ever booked a flight, rental car, or hotel (unrelated to DVC or WDW) through member services? And why on Earth would you do that?

I'm planning to buy APs on Dec 9, but I could still change my mind and get park hoppers. If there is a discount, I will definitely go with the APs. Looks like it's going right down to the wire!

I received our survey today -- November 12th! The password was still active so I completed the survey. They didn't give people much time to complete this thing! I don't know if my answers will count since it is past the 8th. There is no date on the postmark.

I also recieved the on line survey. It sounds like we all have a lot of the same complaints.I wrote about the web site quality and the pass discounts.I have to also say that I wrote many great things about DVC.
