I am getting ready for the trip. I have gained 4 pounds.
Need to get used to eating a lot.

I also love hot tea! That Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon has some kick! It's almost too cinnamony for me...but it's still yummy. Heather, I know that Williams-Sonoma has had it in the past. It's in a metal tin.

Yogi teas are also great! I turned a friend onto Yogi. He absolutely LOVES it. My favorite hot tea is chai, complete with the cream/milk. YUM! My second favorite is probably a peach or peach mango. Iced tea is ALWAY peachy at my house.

Have you ever been to www.designatea.com ? You can order customized samples for free! I requested a few combo flavors a few months ago, and now I think about it, I have tried them yet!

I love hot tea as well. One of my favorites is Nobo Whole Fruit.

So me being a carnivore I am starting to add those green things that grow in the ground into my diet.

I must say I just had the jimmy johns veggie delite sandwich #13
I got it on the 7 grain bread. Bread made the sandwich

mayo

Its wiggled a little west but that means we are going to be on the 'bad' side (the East side is where all the tornados are). To make it mores stressful, my sister-in-law who lives south of Lafayette just call DH to come help board up their house as well....so now we have 2 houses to get ready and the storm i predicted right now to land between the two.

We'll know by tomorrow if they are going to start evacuating New Orleans or not....the parish I live near now has some manditory evacuations going on. I'm expecting my area to be called this evening.

No D cell batteries or water to be found in town. (good thing we have a generator) and the price of gas is arleady going back up drasitcally (bed part of a generator). So the city is going into 'crisis mode' at the moment.

Denise, so sorry about your experience on the other thread. For what it is worth, I am the Chairman of the School Board for my children's school and work very closely with the principals. I am taking my kids out of school for the cruise and a couple of days the week before for some pre-cruise fun. I believe that this is absolutely appropriate (in particular given that school will only have been in session for a couple of weeks) and can be very educational. The principlas and teachers in our elementary schools agree and, for the most part, value the opportunity for families to have these kind of bonding experiences.

In our system, all that is asked is that you talk to the teacher ahead of time to discuss any make-up work and any concerns the teacher may have a couple of weeks prior to the absence. The aim is to make sure everyone is on the same page with respect to any make-up work and so that parents are aware if the student is already behind and the trip may exacerbate the problem.

I love your attitude. You are the mom, you know what is best for your kids and it sounds to me like you take responsibility for their education. This is all any school can ask. Good educators will value this and be happy to work with you.

Kimberly - We leave NZ the evening of 22nd, which is the 21st US time. We arrive LAX on the 22nd (lunchtime, which my kids think is really funny - arriving before we leave ). We fly to Florida on the 23rd . I think Lois is also leaving around the 20th.

Also ... I was cutting tags tonight for the FE gifts. I cut them from 12x12 paper. The resulting pattern made a pretty cool background. I have 3 of these that I bring on the ship. If anyone wants 1 or all of them, you are welcome to them. They would look cool with white or red behind them.

Denise - I have two grown sons that are kind, warm, considerate and very successful (as far as my definition of successful goes - which is that kind, warm and considerate part) adult men - shhh - don't tell them I said that . I was a single parent from the time my youngest was 9 months. We didn't have alot but I always scraped together some kind of vacation over the years. After all these years, these wonderful men sometimes talk about their school years but they talk alot about our experiences together as a family! My youngest even told me recently that he gets it now. No one can take away the memory of those experiences. We only have them for a short time before they go off with their own families. School and education is very important but the family bonding, not to mention the wonderful people they will interact with (all us DIS'ers!!! ) is very important to their character too. But, I don't know why I'm even going into this 'cause I know you get it too! Still, , for the cr... you had to read after asking a simple question.

Told the boys teachers at back to school night, and they both thought our vacation sounded just heavenly! J's teacher (1st grade) said she will get some independent studying stuff together for me. P's teacher (4th grade) said she would get whatever they were working on for that week but nothing much at all..Told her we were planning on having him read for hit 30mins a day along with keep a journal of the day and she said PERFECT. He can come back and give an oral report about his vacation...he was right there and sort of made a face.. so she said OR you could WRITE a 5page report on it. HE perked up.. an oral report sounds great, Ill even bring in any suviners I get to share 1 more crisses averted

Seriously...that is the cutest magnet! Where do you people come up with these magnets?? How do you make/get them? ...

Many people on the DISboards are willing to personalize some graphics to make magnets from or share a generic graphic. Cyndifan gave you very good direction by going to the Creative DISigns Forum. Also, in Post #1, we have a link to a list of some of the popular creative threads where many get their magnets. That would be a great place to start. Of course there are others who are simply a creative genius with all the right software tools to make their own designs. Sometimes something as simple as Word or PowerPoint will work, too.

How to make them? Several options. You can buy magnetic paper that you either run through your printer or you can glue your graphic on paper to the magnet. You could laminate paper and put magnetic strips on the back, or even use a page protector, slip your graphic in the sleeve, and add the magnetic strips on the page protector. Magnetic paper can be found on-line, at Michael's Crafts, Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart, and I'm sure many other stores.
