Debating on what to do:

Go strollerless,
Bring my full size stroller (worried about checking it @ the airport and lugging it around on the bus transportation @ Disney)
Buy an umbrella stroller...

Do your 4-5 year old children need a stroller @ Disney? We leave tomorrow so advice needed quickly!

You will probably need one but I'd wait and buy a cheap one at Wal-Mart. If you don't have a car available then you should get one before you go.

If you stay a few days you may get by without one but for a week, the child won't last. If you are going to have long days in and out of the park, it's even more necessary.

We brought umbrella strollers for our kids who were almost 5 and almost 3 at the time of the trip. They both used the strollers every day. WDW is probably too much walking for a 4 y/o.

We rented a double stroller one day (left ours in rental car which was at golf course w/other family members). We missed having our own strollers when walking out of the park with tired kids.

Also, I like knowing where the kids are at all times, especially when trying to navigate through the crowds. Having them in strollers gave me comfort that they weren't going to get lost.

Have fun!

We took our full sized stroller to Disneyland a while back. The stroller became our pack mule for camera, camcorder, snacks, bottled water, change of clothes etc.

It can help keep you from getting too tired out as well as your child!

Some days I look at those strollers and wish I had one for Myself.;) I would certainly have one for your child .

Yes, Yes, Yes. I have a very active DD4, but there is no way we could do the parks without a stroller. Carrying her is too exhausting and she wears herself out with excitement running around early on. We are going back in Sept and just bought a new double jogging stroller primarily for this purpose.

Yes definitely bring a stroller for your child. My Dd is 5 and I just bought a volo for her because I have had the dreaded experience of carrying her to the room after a day in the parks. The longer you stay the more need you will have of it. You get tireder (is that a word?) at WDW the longer you stay IME. Have a great time. I wish I was going so soon!! Bring sunscreen and hats!!

YES!!!

Lightweight umbrella stroller is a must, IMHO, until they are about 5 or 6.

Most definitely. You will get much more "mileage" out of your little one if they are riding rather than walking. We have umbrella strollers for DS 4 and DD 6 which are used only at WDW. The kids are much less crabby and we are not carrying the kids around at the end of the day. I found extension handles for the umbrella strollers at Babies R Us since bending to hold the handles of the umbrella strollers is bad on my back (I'm not tall, either). I also found little umbrellas as shade protection that clamp onto the handle of the umbrella stroller. They fold like a regular umbrella but are on flexible arms, so they can be directed over the kids to protect them from the sun whatever the angle.

YES to strollers!::yes:: :wave2:

Yes!!!! No doubt about it.

Rent at WDW parks or bring a small umbrella stroller with a place to stow things underneath. You will be so happy you did!

The rentals are perfect size and not too expensive in the parks!

we are bring a big stroller along...checking it on plane.....it was a freebie, ( found curbside, we have washed it and it's good as new)- since it was free we are playing with the idea of just leaving it there when we come home.../ mabye donating or stroller swap......
my daughter will be 5 1/2 when we go, we use a stroller at every theme park, or festival we go to....she "lasts" longer not having to walk the entire time.
- plus it keeps her close ( she tends to be ahead of us if she walks)

I took one for my very active 4 yr old grandson and was i glad, bought a cheap one that folded down, cause i hate it when they sleep and their little heads hang,so i payed a little more and got one that folds down for naps, was so glad i did,he wlked a lot of the time and he rode a lot of the time and we closed the parks every night and watched that last firework, rode that last ride and he would sleep immediatley, all i had to do was get on monorail and go back to GF.It was wondrful!!

There is the safety issue. When it is so crowded it is comforting to know your child is in the stroller. Make sure you tell your child that if you get lost to find a CM with a white name tag. The other colors are sold to guests but the CM will be wearing a white tag.(This is also true for Universal studios) I show my DD when we get in the park and introduce her to a CM so she knows what to look for just in case.

I am bringing my Perego umbrella stroller but wish I had a bigger one for all the gear we bring. My DS is 6 and I bet we are going to have to rent one for him too. LAst year he wanted a stroller everyday and I didn't blame him at all. I like it better too knowing where my kids are than worrying about them getting lost somehow in a crowd.

I would plan to use a stroller if I were you! :) When we went last year, our oldest was 3.5, and the only park he didn't use a stroller in was MGM-it's smaller-and he did just fine walking all day there. I would just rent one if I were you. And in case you didn't know, you can rent one for multiple days, and they give you some sort of ticket and you just present the ticket and pick up your stroller each morning, instead of waiting in the line twice (the rent a stroller line and the pick up a stroller line). And if you return the stroller at the end of the day (as opposed to just ditching it any old place in the park) they give you a Disney Dollar. :)

Have a MAGICAL trip!!!!!!! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo
