Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

We ate at Captain's Grill during our trip earlier this month and thought the scrambled eggs on the buffet tasted a little funny, too. I ordered custom made scrambled eggs for breakfast on an earlier trip and they tasted much better. than the ones on the buffet

I didn't know you could order special so appreciate the tip for next time . I would definitely go back as the rest was good especially the sausage and bacon and of course , the Mickey waffle .

I'm sad to say we won't be staying at the Yacht Club next July now. We will be heading back to AKL instead. Ds has become Harry Potter obsessed so we wanted to switch our last 3 nights to a Universal resort, unfortunately, staying at the Yc for the 12 nights was overbudget once we added that on. I'm saving nearly £600 with the switch, a sensible move considering the state of the £ but still sad.

Hi all! Our trip is over :( and I wanted to come back to this thread and share about our first stay at the Beach Club (& first deluxe stay, thanks to a magical deal). We were at the Beach Club Oct 1-8, 2016.

We used online check-in and bypassed the front desk, a feature that is new to us since our last WDW trip, and we loved it! I found our room location while on the Magical Express using the Touring Plans room finder site on my phone. Easy-peasy. We were VERY pleased with our room location. We booked a standard room with a room request of Near Elevator, and we got it! Room 3650, just up from the elevators by the Marketplace. If I'd known we'd have been so close to the Marketplace, I would've sprung for refillable mugs, but I had already bought plenty of drinks using Garden Grocer, so we didn't. There was a lounge area just outside our room with chairs and a sofa. This was maybe the only downside of the room, people congregated here playing cards etc. in the afternoons, but we aren't nappers, so the noise didn't bother us. The ice machine was outside our room too, but we couldn't hear it unless we were near the coffee pot area.

We LOVED Stormalong Bay. I think I'm spoiled by this pool forever. The sand bottom felt amazing on tired feet. We had a couple of days, including our first day, where there weren't enough tubes in the lazy river to go around, but then other days there were more than enough. I guess it just depended on how busy the pool was. I never had trouble finding a lounger. There was a lot of rain that week, then it was closed Friday 10/7 from Matthew, and so we didn't use the pool as much as I would've liked, but we enjoyed it when we could!

I thought the BC did a great job with the hurricane. My son came down with a cold right at the same time so we didn't make much use of activities within the hotel, and used the day for him to rest in the room, but I did venture down and saw Goofy and Pluto in the lobby, then later on, Minnie and (I think) Donald.

One night we had dinner at Cape May. I thought it was a little (a lot) pricey for what we got. (Don't stone me! lol) We just weren't impressed and we love seafood. Beaches and Cream, on the other hand, YUMMY! I finally snagged a day-of reservation here after trying for MONTHS before our trip. I was so happy. My son love the jukebox. I had the grilled cheese and tomato bisque with the grilled banana bread for dessert. Best meal I think I had anywhere on property, all week.

Bus stop construction situation... I thought this was going to be a big deal, but really, it wasn't so bad. About 75% of the time, the golf cart shuttle was waiting and we were able to use it. The walk wasn't terrible when the shuttle wasn't around. Only 1 time was a bus monitor CM at the stop. WE WERE SO PLEASED WITH BEACH CLUB BUS SERVICE!!! We didn't stand ONCE the entire stay at BC. The buses were always uncrowded. There was never a long line to get back to the BC from the parks. (Compare that with Pop Century, where we normally stay!! You can always find the Pop Century line at the park bus stops, it's the one with the most people in it, lol!) The longest we waited for a bus was 15 minutes, to go from BC to MK. It was SO NICE!

Walking to Epcot was PERFECT, especially during Food and Wine.

The boat to DHS was lovely, also!

I really cannot think of one thing to complain about with our stay. I hope we get to return one day!!!

I will leave you with my favorite picture I took during our visit.

FWIW We ate scrambled eggs - ala carte, not from the buffet - there late Aug/early Sep., and I'm pretty sure they were made from powdered eggs (or whatever it is they do on cruises/buffets). Like on a cruise, gotta order eggs with a visible yolk, I guess.

We were at the BC when you were there. We were in room 3705 and we walked past this lounge area every day. It seemed like a popular gathering place and often had people there.

Forgive me if this question has been answered previously in this informative thread, but I don't have time to read through it all and we will be booking BC by tomorrow. Is it true that all club level rooms only sleep 4 but non club level rooms sleep 5? That is what it states on mousesavers.com and the YouTube videos I have seen seem to support it. The club level rooms appear to not have the fold out day bed that the regular rooms have. If anyone can shed some light on this for me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

No, there are club level rooms that sleep five and non club level rooms that only sleep four. The size of the room determines whether it will fit a daybed, not whether or not it is on the club level floor.
Some club level rooms have a daybed, but I think the majority of them don't have one. They can bring in a roll away bed if you need one.

I am going to try to catch up on this thread sometime before the morning, but no promises. I have a few things on the to do list to do.

:headache:

But...

One Week from this moment we'll be in the air on our way to the BCV and F & W fest!!!! I can hardly wait. It is going to be a loooong week :-) Dee, when is your trip to the darkside?

As Wood Nymph says, there are some club level rooms with daybeds. I believe that because of the very low or non-existent rooms with daybeds in the garden view and waterview categories, families of 5 have been unable to book club level rooms in these categories in the past.

::yes::

Have a great trip, Dee!

Try and find out if they have released the 2017 room discount bounce back yet. It is usually released around the third week of October. I have an annual pass burning a hole in my pocket and looking to get back on the BC/YC Be Our Guest list. :)

This! We just booked CL at YC for a party of 5 and I had to book Standard view. We had a Garden View room this year and it had a daybed - so I am going to put in a request to pay for a Garden or Water View if one is available with a daybed when we check in!

What kind of rates are you guys getting for 2017? Every time I try looking at any dates, I'm only getting insane prices close to rack rates :(

:welcome: to the thread and to posting on the DIS!

:thumbsup2

Very excited to be back on this thread! My best friend and I will be celebrating our 40th birthdays next year with an October trip that we promised to do many years ago! We'll be staying at the BC 10/14 to 10/19...can't wait to catch up on all the news!

:welcome: back!

Sounds like an awesome trip!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Does anybody know the status of the fence being built around the Beach Club quiet pool? We always used to go out that door and walk through the pool area on the way to EPCOT and back (if our room was near that elevator). Will there be a walkway that goes around the pool?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 (Post 15)- November?

:goodvibes

I would love to be added to the BOG list if you can. November 10-15 BC. Jersey Week!

We just got back from YC last Sunday. We were there from 10/1- 10/9.

Thank you so much for your review. I would love to add it to our resort review section (Post 16 on Page 1 of this thread). Someday.

::yes::

After much confusion caused by my employers, my original reservation for 2 weeks BC in October 17, changed first of all to to 3 weeks AKL in June 17 but has now changed again, FINALLY, to 2 weeks BC arriving 26th May 2017. I hope to book a 3rd week at another resort shortly.

We have a Garden view room and our main request is for a full balcony. However, I wonder if anyone has any tips for bed requests ? We have stayed at BC before when there were only 3 of us, DD will be 15 next year. DS will have just turned 2 and its a whole new experience for us taking a baby/toddler. Initially I just assumed that DS would be in one of the 2 queens with one of us. However, would it be wise to also request a daybed or crib for DS ? We have no doubt had a daybed in our room before but never had cause to use it ( other than an extended area for DW and DD to leave their clothes  )

Any tips are appreciated.

:welcome:

I'll put you on the list for May.

:cool1:

HI everyone!

I haven't been around for a while but I'm back now. Got annual passes for my DD and I during our August visit at BWV. Staying at BC for the Wine and Dine Half, BCV for MLK weekend and a split stay in March at BLT/BCV. Going to catch up now on changes etc

Amy

:welcome: back!

Great to hear from you again.

I'll add you to the list. Again and Again and Again!

:woohoo:

That is certainly understandable. That's a lot of money you are saving!

Have fun at the Lodge and at the (real) Dark Side!

Thank you!

Will do.

I have added a search for bounceback to my list of requests and missions.

Anyone else need info or a specific picture?

I'm packed (including a tape measure so I can finally get dimensions on the fridge) (if I remember!)

I'm off to update the BOG list, fold the last load of laundry and then hit the sack for the 3:30 wake up call. Flight at 6:30 am hoping to be at the resort around 11.

So that leads to a question- On our past CL stays, we have been lucky, our rooms was ready when we arrived. We are using the magical luggage delivery (although it has been so long I almost forgot to put on the yellow tags).

If we have carryons we need to store, is there a place on the 5th floor or do we turn them in to Bell Services?

Thanks!

Please feel free to like this post to let me know you are sending us good wishes for the trip so that we can keep this thread (sort of) on topic!

I'll try to keep up with the reading, but not so much on the posting while I am away.

I'm here now but at CSR, the only BB right now is still FD. I'm hoping the RO comes out before we leave on the 19th.
