Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Without looking through lots of pages, just wondering if anyone has used the ap discount for the 20% food discount at the BC Marketplace since Oct. lst? Wondering if they just scan your band and ask for your pin or do they want photo id too? Since we will be staying at the YC and probably sending ds for the food, so just want to have the right id etc.

Also I am still on the fence about doing the online check in. If you do that and dont like your room assignment can you see what else is available. I dont want the ground floor either but would like something closer to the elevator since getting the wheelchair down long halls if the housekeeping carts are there is a challenge at times. Sometimes I just have to fold it up for a while. Also we booked standard view. Sometimes we get an upgrade to garden view. I am not expecting that as I only expect what I paid for but wondering if anyone has done online check in have you ever been upgraded? Its only for 2 nights so I can live with what they give us as long as its not a far walk to the room. TIA for any info.

View attachment 200662 A picture of the guys installing a fence, taken yesterday. I think this is the area you have been talking about. It's just off the walkway toward EPCOT. I've not been to that area yet, and didn't notice them today (but I really didn't look- sorry).
I understand that FL code requires a minimum 4'0" high fence to surround pools for public safety, partly due to children drowning in open/unsupervised pools. If a pool has undergone alterations since the law passed, it most likely has lost any grandfathering that may have made the pool not subject to the code.

I have used my AP to get the discount. I always have my AP card as well as ID already out so I'm sorry I can't answer your question very well. I can say they always look carefully at the ID.

I have 2 people using ECV's. Our room this time is a little ways from the elevator, but we have had no trouble getting past Mousekeeping carts. Now families walking 4 abreast- different story (lol).

Hope you have a wonderful stay!

Hello, everyone! Having found an awesome deal on flights, I am thinking about bringing my daughter down to Disney for a couple of days to celebrate her birthday. I think I read somewhere back in this thread about someone getting a really great deal at the yacht club after the renovation was pushed back. I'm not seeing anything spectacular online. If you have any info, I would really, really appreciate it if you would pm me. Thanks!

Question, might be weird:

I can't find a resort map that points out where the stairs and elevators are located in BC. Does anyone know where I can find one or tell me where they all are located? Same with all exits out of the building.

Thanks!

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate the pictures!
I'm bummed that the room come with only 1 sink, but we'll have to make it work I guess.

Hey all, 2nd time in Disney and I booked a split stay with Beach club/Poly during Easter week. Stayed at poly last year and loved it. I could save around $400 if I switch to the Yacht club but I think with a 2 and 5 year old the beach club might be worth it? Any areas or floors of the hotel I should try to request? Thanks all !
The yacht club is so similar to the beach club. Personally, I would switch and save $400. You can still use all the same amenities as BC when at YC.
I agree....Stayed at Yacht Club in April with a 3 year old and a 7 year old and it was great. Get to use all the YC BCV amenities so I would get the $400 savings and spend it in the park.
Paule350, just remember that the YC will be under renovation at the time you will be there. Not saying it will be a problem, and it probably won't, but it will be going on then (we hope).

Dee, I hope you and Mark have a great time at the Dark Side (my personal choice by the way) on your anniversary trip. I also hope that you have a chance to post some comments during the trip rather than us having to wait a year before you update your trip reports:) to find out what happened.

This is the best map we have of the interior of the Beach Club. If someone wants to find this in the future, I have the link on Page 1, Post 8 (Beach Club Rooms) and in the Beach Club Room View/Description thread.

NO- We don't have one for the Yacht Club unfortunately :(

Here is a quote from @Wood Nymph who used the discount on her trip last week. She doesn't mention what was required for identification purposes:

The 20% annual passholder discount has been great. It works at the Marketplace, Boardwalk Bakery, Pecos Bills, etc. The discount is very useful if you are staying in one of the deluxe resorts, since it covers their counter service restaurants.

Also I am still on the fence about doing the online check in. If you do that and dont like your room assignment can you see what else is available. Yes, if you don't like your room assignment, you may visit the front desk to discuss what else is available. Do not use anything in the room, probably best to not leave your luggage in there.

Online checkin should not impact whether a guest receives an upgraded room- upgrades happen based on resort needs. For example, if the Yacht Club is oversold on Standard View reservations, they will place someone who has booked that view into a GV or WV room. Posters here have reported receiving complimentary upgrades regardless of whether they have used the adavanced check in.

:thumbsup2

As Dee posted above, we used the new 20% AP discount at the Marketplace many times during our trip (Oct 1st to 5th). It even worked for food. But you do have to show your annual passholders card and a picture ID in order to get the 20% off. You can pay for the item with any method you want. We used them all, cash, gift card, credit card and MagicBand.

Just had an online chat and here's what I got [Pam was the DVC rep]:

Do you know if the beach club villa studio's accommodate 5 now with the addition of the pull down bunk bed?
Pam: at 17:39:12
I will be happy to share that information with you today!
Pam: at 17:39:47
Yes, they can accommodate 5, however with the pull down bunk their is a weight limit.

I didn't ask her what the weight limit was.......

Just wanted to share a little more information on this. I contacted the site through which we are renting points and told them about this information and asked them to see if they could add my son to our reservation.

They replied that they tried to have the member add on the 5th person and member services told them that it might have to wait until the first part of the year. :( Disappointing obviously - although it's really our issue since my son decided belatedly that he wanted to join us otherwise I wouldn't have booked BCV at all just because of the worry about delays. Anyway, I replied that I might have to just book my son into a separate room somewhere else (he's 18) then and she did reply to ask for my patience because she was reaching out again to try and get clarification since there is conflicting information being given out. I'll update here when I get some information back for anyone in a similar situation as mine. Again, want to really thank everybody in this thread for the wonderful information and willingness to seek answers!

Though not nearly as good as the BC maps, nor up-to-date for type of room, as it does not show garden/woods view rooms, there is some useful info here, such as location of rooms, distance to elevators, and where the rooms are located, in relation to areas and features of the resort (click on satellite view and zoom in to see room numbers and views, and click on map view to see elevator and stairwell locations):

https://www.room77.com/floor_plan_standalone.html?hid=109542&pid=QrTIuf&id=MryhTP

The connecting room information is not valid, as it lists no connecting rooms at all.

We had a fantastic stay at the YC for our Sept/Oct trip. Here is the view from our garden view room, #3038.

We did have one little snafu at the very end of the trip though. We were waiting for DME to take us to the airport, and while waiting, a worker came up and put white boards over the DME bus stop sign to cover them up. My mom and I commented that it was odd, but they must be moving the stop soon for the construction. Little did we know that the second those boards went up, the bus stop was moved! A few minutes earlier we had asked the cast member if that was the stop and he said it was. Fortunately I noticed the DME bus pull in and turn in front of the convention center, so my mom and I ended up running with all our luggage over that way to catch the bus. The driver was awesome though and admitted they had only told her about 10 minutes prior that the stop was moving, so she had planned on waiting just in case something like this happened!

Also I am still on the fence about doing the online check in..

I am one that normally does not do online check in. I like to check in with a real person. I say at the current time with all the staff cuts, you should absolutely use online check in. I wish we had.

We just got back from YC last Sunday. We were there from 10/1- 10/9. It was not our first stay at YC, or in YC CL. We have also stayed at BC. For the first time, while we LOVE YC and still had a fantastic stay and would pick it again in an instant, we did feel like it was understaffed in areas and really felt the cut backs. Actually, it was not just at YC--- there were definitely some substantial staffing cuts in several areas around WDW and also things were not being as well taken care of as we were used to (we went to DL this summer and the parks were significantly cleaner than WDW as a whole this year which was surprising to me). Although people have been complaining about cut backs for years-- we have been every year for the last 9 years and last year was the first year we noticed or felt the cuts and reductions at all- and this year we really felt and noticed it in several areas. It was a definite shift. As far as YC, about every time we passed the front desk, it looked like the lines were long (maybe it was just our timing in passing by- but we really did notice it and we have not in the past). We were staying CL this trip. In the past, we would be greeted when we got off ME and then escorted to the CL floor where you check in for CL. They have eliminated all the greeters. For CL, you are supposed to check in upstairs; however, your band has to work to access that floor. When we arrived, we weren't sure what to do, since there was no greeter or escort and we knew our check in would be upstairs. We asked at bell services whether our bands would work to go up there to check in, or whether we needed to go to the front desk. We were told we had to go to the front desk (although I have since heard that most times the bands should work). The line was long and we had to stand in it until we got to the front, but then they did not check us in there, rather they had to get someone to escort us to the 5th floor to actually check in. We wound up having someone that was working the front desk actually leave their post and take us upstairs (which made me feel sorry for the people behind us in line). Later that week, we actually saw the Captain/Yachtsman himself bringing people up to check in. Also, I don't know if the concierge desk in the lobby was ever open, but it did not appear to be much, if at all, during our stay. DD always wants to look at their pin book and the lobby concierge desk had signs up saying closed every time she wanted to go check on it. We were directed to the front desk for any downstairs concierge service (we just went back upstairs to CL). but it did not look like they had any separate concierge line, it looked like you just had to stand in the regular line (we did not try it- so I can't verify that). We also noticed the CL lounge appeared to be understaffed. The CMs working it were working as hard and fast as they could, but they could not keep up (this was before Hurricane Matthew). More than once, there were no plates available and we had to use bowls and twice there were no forks available. Also, the tables all over the lounge had dishes left behind that were not being picked up. More than once we moved someone's old dishes off of a table to another table that already had dishes so that we would have a clear table where we could sit. Again, the staff that was there was really working hard and trying to get everything done- they just could not keep up. My 10 year old DD (whose goal in life is to become an imagineer and then the CEO of Disney- she doesn't think small) kept saying--- "When I am CEO of Disney, I'm going to fix these understaffing issues". I can't tell you how many times during the week I heard "When I am CEO of Disney..." Lets just say--- she is going to make sure things with faded paint are going to be spruced up; that the restrooms are not filthy, that broken doors and other broken items are repaired, that removed character meet and greets are returned and that villain meet and greets are returned to the Halloween party, that resort are properly staffed, etc. I think she is making a list.
