The Updated and All-Inclusive Costume Thread

Has anyone ever tired removable vinyl or anything for temporary shirt decorations on athletic material?

I have a light blue shirt I'm planning on using for the marathon could be fun to put some snowflakes or an Arendelle flag design or something on there, but I would want something that could make this a normal running shirt again after.
Yes! I used it to put the flowers on this Small World costume last year for the half.

The shirt is a lightweight tech material and the skirt is Bolder (formerly Sparkle Skirts). The vinyl stayed on fine until I made the mistake of using a throw-away poncho to keep it dry pre-race. The vinyl grabbed onto the light plastic of the poncho and peeled right off anywhere it made contact. With the help of some fellow DISers, I was able to salvage most of the pieces and put it back on, but it was a stress I didn't need.

I'd use it again, but definitely be aware of placement so that the vinyl can't make contact with any other material (be aware of sides, arms and legs). Also if your item isn't flowy, it could make contact with other runners when things get tight in the corral. It DID come off easily after the race and I am able to re-use the shirt and skirt for other things. So if the item you want to apply it to is something you don't want to damage, it works from that perspective.

I didn't use vinyl, and it wasn't on a shirt, but I've used adhesive felt to decorate skirts for races, and it comes off cleanly. I even reused one of them originally made for DL 2024 at MW 2025. The only trouble I had with it sticking was for my marathon skirt, because I loaded the shapes down with paint to make them sparkly like jewels, which made them stiff. But they stayed on for the whole marathon, I just had to stick a couple back on after I got off the bus to the race that morning.

Oh nooooooo. I know I said no metallics, but the new crowned gold leggings might work perfect.

But they're $100 freaking dollars.
They launched the gold line today and I was surprised to see that they ARE part of the Black Friday sale, so "only" $68!

Hear me out…
Lester’s Possum Park soccer team?

Not because I have any sort of obsession for Goofy movie (truly…I’m just a few years off generationally for that one) but because it might be kind of easy to do? I can get a custom jersey off Amazon for pretty cheap, but I’d have to order like tomorrow.

Goofy colors, Possum Park for team name, Lester for player name. Number 39? I have a blue sparkle skirt already. Fits the comedy/sports theme?

I have 0 other ideas at this point.

I think that's very clever

Does anyone have an opinion on rock city vs sparkle athletic skirts? Specifically the Minnie one if it matters. I keep waiting for one to pop on FB in my size, but no such luck yet. I may need to suck it up and buy one!
And…… I bought one Saturday so of course one popped up on FB in my size today.

I'm at a loss for what to wear for the full. I'm thinking I want to keep it simple compared to actual costumes for the 5k, 10k and half since I don't want to run a full marathon with a bunch of extra stuff. I have purple shorts and leggings (not bright dopey purple but like softer purple) for a good last minute weather decision. And then maybe just get a green long sleeve or tank depending on weather? It feels very lame haha

I say do whatever makes you comfortable, but you can easily take a regular running outfit and add a few details to make it feel more like a costume IF YOU WANT:

- Grab some fun socks or compression ankle sleeves in Dopey colors or a printed design. Etsy will have them, or the expo.
- Wearing sunglasses or a hat/visor? Headband? Find purple/green/gold ones or pick up something with a Dopey specific design.
- DIY some temporary vinyl or velcro on "gems" to your shirt and/or shorts. Or Cricut/paint the numbers 48.6 on your back.

All great ideas thanks!

Finally nailed down the outfits/costumes for MW. Now it will depend on the weather what rotation they will be worn. But this is the tentative game plan:

5k - Goofy (goofy knitted hat, goofy themed shirt from Etsy, royal blue shorts
10k - Donald (royal blue running hat, royal blue tank, white shorts, yellow running leggings
Half: Zurg themed (hat with the Z target on it, black tank, purple shorts, black calf compression sleeves and trying to put Z target stickers on them
Full: Dopey theme (purple running tank, bright green shorts)

@KCO5988 I agree with @The Expert, you can definitely find a lot of fun accessories at the expo (including skirts if you're so inclined to wearing them!). Last year I wore my typical black running shorts, a black short-sleeve shirt with writing on it, and a polka dot skirt and hat. Very simple, but I was comfortable! This year I'm wearing the same brand of shorts and shirt with a white Sparkle skirt and red visor. Again, simple, but cute. :)

This is basically exactly what I’m wearing. If the weather is so that I need sleeves I figure I can find some at the expo.
