Will it hurt them no...will it be trouble...yes. I would physically have to hold my DD down to force her to eat some of that stuff.

I personally don't like the choices...we won't be eating there at all as far as i can see, but that is no big deal to me. We have deluxe dining and I have enough meals planned that we will be plenty full with 2 TS a day with out needing the food court. Many of the places we will eat will have things she likes. (like steak). She'll have a good share of crap, but some healthy stuff too.

i agree with you.. not so much my children as they will try something new. But my husband is a steak and potato kind of guy...
when the kids try something new i have a 50/50 shot if they like it or not. if they don't like it i just wasted $$ or dining plan credits!!!
im on vacation and don't want crabby kids. stick to what they like and move on! ;)

I have a request for anyone going to AOA by way of Magical Express (or opinions from those who have done ME to POP): ME goes to CBR very first (right?), but then, will it go to AOA or POP first?

Not always the same route. When I used it, it went to Pop first, then to AKL after

Oh my goodness, the food choices look AMAZING!! So excited to see something other than the usual plebeian choices of chicken nuggets, cheeseburgers and deep fried yuck!

I love that the kid's waffles are whole grain and that there are so many fresh fruit and veggie options. We don't vacation to eat garbage, and my kids would much prefer a bowl of fruit with yogurt than sugared cereal or a donut for breakfast.

Kudos to Disney for focusing on good nutrition and trying to minimize the trash food that's ruining our children's health. :thumbsup2
:thumbsup2 I'm all for healthy diet!

A lot of people on this board ( not all ) assume that if you dont lke AOA's menu then you dont like to eat healthy.

Not true at all.

My family loves both healthy and junk food. We have more healthy than junk of course. But a few points to consider...

1- A lot of the food Disney touts as healthy really is not. To me healthy is organic and without additives and preservatives. Disneys grapes are not organic and grapes are one food you dont want to eat non-organic since the pesticides saturate through the thin skin so easily. Most of the breads are whole wheat, not whole grain. Whole wheat can have just enough wheat to make it look healthy but have tons of white flour in it . Whole grain is more dense and much healthier. I could go on but thats the basic point.

I know some of you will disagree but I wouldnt consider the strawberries also laced with pesticide any better than the french fries.

We eat junk food while on vacation, but make sure to stop at Publix for some organic produce as well.

2- Also vacation is the only time some people allow themselves junk food.

3- People with food allergies find that whole grain breads , granolas , exotic cusines , etc. . can restrict what they are able to consume as most of these foods will have cross contaminaton issues.

And of course I just flat out am not turned on by the food. I love to cook with exotic spices at home. I get the whole Tandori thing. But the rice , squash , and lack of side items offered with some of the meals turns my stomach. Thats just me though. We will still go , enjoy the resort , eat elsewhere , and have a great tme. To each their own. I just had to vent because it seems that when someone says the food doesnt look good everyone else jumps in " Well I love healthy food! " lol We non-food court excited people do also. But I still dont see it being offered.

Have we determined what kind of coffee pot is used? Ive seen both 4 cup classic syle pots and a coffee pot that pours into two separate cups...So not sure if it's standard filter or pods...
They've got the "right & left" style -- 2 cups with separate reservoirs, and I assume separate pods (I saw it at the cm Open Mouse last week.)

While I agree with you on most points, I think there is no way to please everyone. I'm still seeing french fries offered with kids meals, yoghurt that's full of sugar, pizza etc. There's really only a handful of new options. What concerns me is that there is such an uproar if there is a departure from the standard chicken nugget, hamburger choices. My own son will go for those first, but even he is sick of them by day 3, so I am happy to see alternatives.

Also, I totally and completely understand that there are sensory and texture issues that effect many people. On the other hand, I think there are many many more instances that boil down to kids eating nothing but chicken nuggets and burgers because that's what they are traditionally offered and it's just plain easier not to argue with them.
10 days of a Disney diet saw my 6 year old hospitalized in 2010 on the second last day of vacation with an intestinal blockage. Coincidence? Exactly one year later to the same week, he became ill on our last day of vacation and his appendix ruptured and we spent 2 weeks in the hospital this time.

We even supplemented in the room with fruit and healthy snacks and had him drink a ton of water.
Our case is extreme but your never going to convince me that a child with ZERO health issues gets serious digestive illness at Disney twice in a row and it's not diet related.
So long story short, if they want to offer some lighter choices, things that better digested and at least make an attempt to get away from the same old same old we applaud the effort.

Hi Tiffany ! Glad u were watching ! My sister just decided on a whim to head over there and never used ustream before so her text messages kept interupting the stream. Could you see ok?

I might be moving down before my LM room opening. I am going to keep my reservation even if we are settled in before then. But it would be awesome if I could get a group of us Disers together to do a live stream from AOA.

Thank you!!! With my kids allergies changes in food can start a down hill spiral . Ds can order Fries and they are safe but if you give him corn(corn syrup or corn starch corn flour ) or yeast, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms ,tree nuts, ginger .DD has peanuts apples green beans eggs and shrimp . We would get to ride in the ambulance so trying something new is not always a option .

Oh gosh thats terrible about your son! I had mine rupture as well and it was the horrible. Cant imagine a child going through that.

You have good points also. Its hard to please everyone so even if I might not like the choices I am glad if it will help some people or be enjoyed by others. We can always eat somewhere else. Plus half the fun for us is always hitting up Publix when we come down there.

i don't get how to watch? I have your page (disney dorks unite?) but it says channel is offline?

It's not showing up for me :(

I can't see ustream either. But, youtube was awesome..I have 66 days left:)

She just left about 15 minutes ago guys. They literally just moved into a condo today ( 5 mins from Disney) and they had to go buy bedding and groceries. Looks like it saved videos though. My sister never streamed before though and didnt have her phone set right so its not the greatest. I gotta tell her to turn off phone alerts so it wont slow things down.

We plan on doing some regular live streams from the parks once a week once I get down there in the next couple months. But she might go back this week once they are settled in. I will have to ask her to let me know what day and time ahead of time so we can all be here to watch.

The arcade was awesome. My boys had her show them the prize section of course. lol But the cool thing is if we ask her to show us certain things she can walk over and check it out for us. I will let you know what day shes free.

I had her ask about showng us the LM section but its roped off and hard to see from the allowed areas.

BTW ignore the link to my blog. Gotta take that down. I started a new one. The old one was from we were supposed to move last year before some stuff happened. :( I started a new blog about our upcoming move down there . I will link to it in my pretrip report once I actually start it ! Moving and vacation at the same time is not a good thing but I couldnt give up that new shiny mermaid room !

Yeah us also. We have several serious food allergies. New to us equals scary. I remember seeing on the menus that the fries were seasoned . But in the pics most people have posted of the actual food over the last few days they look like regular ones. Thats a relief to me.

You have some really hard allergies to deal with there. Egg is a real tough one. Its in everything ! We are gong to order some stuff ahead of time from Peanut Free Planet. They have some egg free stuff also. I dont think Disney carries Divvies cookies anymore and those are egg free I believe .

This feed is still live from Inside the Magic . Its by the pool. Suprised by how low the crowds are !!! I know its late by the pool but No one is in it. My mom and sister said even the food court earlier was dead.
