Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

So you do need to make sure each person has their own ticket?

Just curious, because we'd probably be splitting up, with some of our party going to different parks later in the week...

No, we kept our family tickets altogether and just randomly handed them out each time we'd go to parks (all tickets issued through YES will have 'youth' on back whether they are being used by adults or kids). And these tickets are not affected by finger scanner; although the kids in our family always scanned their finger when we entered a park just because they like doing that but it did not cause them to have to reuse the same ticket for subsequent park visits.

I want to throw this out there so as to avoid any confusion, changes or disappointment:

Individual Enrollment and Home School Days:
Anyone can take these programs regardless of whether you're a group or not. These are specifically meant for individuals to take part in the Y.E.S. Programs, and for the most part, adults are required to attend.

These programs are offered at specific times of the year, typically lower seasons.

Disney Y.E.S. Programs (groups)
These are available most days of the year (except Holidays) and are open to groups of 10 or more students. Very important these are open to "Youth Groups". What constitutes a Youth Group? A group of 10 or more students of a similar age range (+/- 2 years typically), from an existing youth organization. Examples: School class, Boys and Girls Club, Scout Group, Church Youth Group, ect.

With these specific programs, a maximum of 1 adult can attend for every 5 students.

I want to throw that out there to make sure that everyone knows as from what I was just told, because many groups have been arriving that are not actually groups but rather a loose collection of people, they're cracking down on this. Lets all make sure we're not abusing the system so we don't lose BOTH programs! These are discounted programs so I can see Disney taking them away if they're mis-used or abused.

Hello YES folks. I have one question regarding an organized YES group. I read on another thread that everyone in the group needs to have the same ticket (everyone needs and 8 day ticket, or 4 day ticket, etc.). However, that is not my understanding. I'm so confused.
It shows on the list dates for our DL trip in April and WDW for our trip in August and says "individual enrollment" but if you click to sign up- then it lists only Jan/Feb dates.

I was told by someone at the YES program that the tickets can be whatever each family wants. You fill out a form with your ticket requests, and how many of each ticket type you would like to purchase. The payment needs to be made in full by "one" method of payment, you can't use multiple CC's.

Is there a way to start an information sticky about the YES program with the important facts? I keep seeing the same questions asked over and over again. I am assuming people just don't read the thread.

I have answered this three times in the last few pages, but here goes again.... The summer class registration will open when the January/February classes are over--probably mid-February. You CAN'T register right now except for January/February classes. The information is just there for people to plan.

It looks like you can sign up now for the classes through August 2011. Just go to the disneyyouth website and when you get to the list of classes with specific dates click "go to site" next to the class you want to schedule.

Completed my purchase for July this morning. It looks like they are open for enrollment until Feb 14th and then for June 12th to August 29th.

thank you thank you thank you. Did my class for August this AM. did not have a place to request 8 day no special box that I had read about on these pages so now Im waiting till 9AM to call them. But this is so fantastic. Did get the 7 day premium though.
I really want to thank everyone for the information that has been provided. I would have never heard of this program otherwise. I want to thank you all so much my DD is going to have so much fun in her class..

I just called and they said that 7 day is the most you can go up to now. Bummer really wanted more days but for the money we are saving...7 day works for me

It's a commitment to attend & be on time, just like when kids have to be at school; so if your family aren't morning people when on vacation then rethink if this is doable or book later classes. These classes do have a cut-off number for enrollment so it is sad to think that kids do get shut out of these things who really wanted to attend.

There have been posts here speculating that Disney has ability to void tickets if class isn't attended & that they keep a list of no-shows that will prevent them from registering for future classes. The most likely scenario is that Disney will stop Individual/Open Enrollment program altogether if they are finding that too many people don't attend & are just registering for the deeply discounted tickets. That would be very unfortunate because it's a wonderful program.

I can tell you that when my family attended class in August (during Individual/Open time) a good number of people did not show up; the CMs do take attendance and they were not happy about the no-shows.

Also, if you are registering during Individual/Open Enrollment time then you do not need to fill anything in for Organization.

BUT at the present time Disney is NOT turning away registrations from "loose collection of people" groups, as you call them, so I don't think that it should be implied at this point that people who are organizing a group of 10 or more participants should not be doing this. Granted there may very well come a time that Disney YES Program actually rejects these types of registrations but it certainly is not now and really, why would they ? -- they are trying to grow the YES Program and they aren't in the business of turning away guests and it keeps their YES instructors from being idle.

There is no abuse of the system if Disney's YES group is approving non-traditional groups for participation along with Scouts, churches, etc. Abusing the system is not showing up for class & registering just to take advantage of discounted tickets whether you are part of a traditional or put-together group or an individual/open enrollment participant.

Said it had to be a "fully established organization/group," not just a random group of people or family. Said the group/organization must have a web site or official letterhead or something to that effect to prove they are a group. Now, someone from the boards has put together an actual "group" and we have a FB page for it. Hopefully, Disney will accept that. We have a group of 10 kids, but there is too big of an age range, so I have to split them into two groups. So we now have a group of 7 4th through 6th graders and 3 9th through 11th graders and need to add more people before I can fax another request into Disney.

If anyone is interested in a class and you have kids in 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade for sometime JUNE 5-10, please let me know!!!

No Im not inferring anything about you at all, and I do hope you'll please accept my apologies if it seemed like that, I just wanted to answer as informatively as possible based upon what I know of it and the experience had when attending I know well how it can sometimes be to get everyone out the door bright & early at Disney

That is true, but apparently Disney isn't accepting just a group name, there has to be some sort of "proof" of this group. Back in March when our kids did the class (someone else organized it and made the FB page), Disney didn't ask her for any sort of "proof," just the name of the group and what sort of group it was. When we get enough kids together for at least one of our groups, I will fax a request into Disney again, refer them to the FB page and will let everyone know if they accept that.

What number did you call? I tried to call the number listed at the web page for a question and they said they'd have to call me back that they weren't sure of the answer. I'm hoping to sign only one son up for an extra class, but I'm not sure how that would work... Bummer about the ticket policy changing.
