Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

I, too, am trying to organize a group for May. I emailed a couple questions and in my response yesterday was told that the group had to be from the "same location, traveling together on the same dates" -- though those words are nowhere in any of the YES literature. So, yes, they are trying to "crack down" on loose collections of people.

Actually, they ARE turning away "loose collections of people." I faxed a request into Disney just the other day and they called me wanting to "validate" our group. Said it had to be a "fully established organization/group," not just a random group of people or family. Said the group/organization must have a web site or official letterhead or something to that effect to prove they are a group. Now, someone from the boards has put together an actual "group" and we have a FB page for it. Hopefully, Disney will accept that. We have a group of 10 kids, but there is too big of an age range, so I have to split them into two groups. So we now have a group of 7 4th through 6th graders and 3 9th through 11th graders and need to add more people before I can fax another request into Disney.

If anyone is interested in a class and you have kids in 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade for sometime JUNE 5-10, please let me know!!!

What number did you call? I tried to call the number listed at the web page for a question and they said they'd have to call me back that they weren't sure of the answer. I'm hoping to sign only one son up for an extra class, but I'm not sure how that would work... Bummer about the ticket policy changing.

I called the number on the page. Might call again later today just to double check. Yeah it is a bummer and to add a park ticket on for the one day is like 250 bucks for the 3 of us so that isnt gonna happen :)

I got an email saying that open enrollment dates will be released for the fall soon and they will email me at that time. My oldest daughter in very interested in the Disney Career Start program and I think the Career Discovery class will be an excellent opportunity for her. That is what brought me to research the YES program and Homeschool Days.

As a homeschooling mother the YES program is a great chance to mix education with fun. Unfortunatly Homeschool days might not fall in a time when we can go so I asked about groups (since it seemed others posting on this thread were forming these types of groups) in case there is no open enrollment for fall dates. I am not planning to, nor have I had the intention to, use the YES program strictly for cheap tickets (I would pay full price and an additional fee for the program if that was the way it worked).

I put "individual enrollment" for the organization.

As far as missing the class, my son had to last year, as he developed strep and was totally out of commission for 2 days. I called and let the group leader know. I did keep the paperwork from the doctor, just in case I was "blacklisted" due to him missing the class. It's the first time he's ever gotten sick at WDW, so I am sure we will make the class this year.

What am I doing wrong? I filled out all the info, and I'm trying to register for the July 11 Physics class. I have 2 kids to register. I put 2 in the box, and I looked for an add button (per the instructions) but all I see is the continue button???? And I got this message when I clicked it:

•The maximum quantity allowed for this item is 1, and you have requested 2.
•No selection was saved, please check your entries and submit again

Are you entering the number of kids in the ADULT box or the CHILD box? If you put more than 1 in the adult box, it will give you that message, because only one adult is allowed to attend with each family. Even if a child is over the Disney child age, you still enter them in the child box, as that is registering them as a youth for the class. Hope that helps.

Nevermind--I tried it with 1 adult and 2 kids and it gave me the same error. I would call. May be a glitch in the system or something.

We sent 2 adults and two kids to the IE class; maybe there is only one spot open in that class?

That's what I'm afraid of! I was told that I would get an email as soon as the registration opened, but haven't gotten anything from them. And I was told that my kids would be on a waiting list. I just sent an email asking what the problem is. Maybe I'll know something tomorrow. Sucks if it is full already:( I've made an adr for me and my little one for that morning at CRT. Really hate to have to rearrange my schedule-have all my other adrs in place, too.:headache:

Well that's annoying. They told me they didn't do waiting lists.

Well that's annoying. They told me they didn't do waiting lists.

Just reread the email-didn't say waiting list, but said I was on "the list" ???? Of course, that same email stated that the last seating for breakfast at CRT is 9am.............

From the email:

You are on the list so as soon as registration is available you will be one of the first to know.

Probably meant the list to get an email about registration. I didn't get an email either. Maybe they have too many people interested now to send out an email?

I can't order until I get paid on Monday. I hope we can find a class open. I am trying to get my family to decide if they are going or not. A YES person told me I can't add tickets later. It's so hard to get my family to commit to anything. My dad has offered to pay for us all to go and I'd love to save him some money using these tickets. But if he buys them and then someone can't go, what do I do with the tickets?

8 7 day park hoppers YES--- $182.56 x 8= $1460.48

Reg. Disney price $2564.56

I know! The price difference is amazing. We'll get premium passes for cheaper than basic tickets. I have been trying to talk dh into going (right now it is just me and the kids) but haven't had any luck yet. I thought I could add him later. Maybe I need to wait a few days anyway. I get paid Monday, too. Never dreamed the classes would fill up that fast:(

Just booked the Oceans class at Epcot for July 18. There weren't many options during our travel dates, and I was too nervous to wait-afraid everything will fill up! I had no problem with that one, so my first choice on July 11 must have been full. I had already planned to do Epcot on the 18th. And this class starts at 8:30, instead of 7:15. The kids will like that! Canceling CRT-that hurts my heart, but helps my pocket book!:goodvibes

I'm so glad I checked this thread tonight! I checked the YES website the other day and the summer classes weren't open for enrollment yet. I signed 3 of my kiddos up for "How Things Move" at MK on 7/11 tonight. YAY! I was worried the class would fill up quickly and we might not get in, but I have my confirmation so it looks like we should be good to go. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I did fudge on my DD's age a bit so that she will be able to attend. She'll be 2 months shy of her 5th birthday at the time of the class and she is quite precocious so she'll be fine, I'm sure. I'm thinking I'll leave the baby with DH so I can attend with the kids. As a science teacher, I'm excited about seeing how Disney runs their classes. :cool1:

No Im not inferring anything about you at all, and I do hope you'll please accept my apologies if it seemed like that, I just wanted to answer as informatively as possible based upon what I know of it and the experience had when attending :flower3: I know well how it can sometimes be to get everyone out the door bright & early at Disney :faint:

Thank you.

Another "what if" question. What if the class doesn't fill up? The email says the minimum is 10, but do they really hold to that? It also says "If the minimum is not reached, you will be contacted (5) five business days in advance and rescheduled based on availability of alternate programs." But I requested they ship the tickets to me. Anyone have any experience with that?

Thanks!

Just saw summer dates were opened and bought 11 premium tickets for the family- saved over a grand! The kids are psyched for the Oceans Program...as am I!

I am sure this question has been asked before but after skimming many pages I have not seen it - so,

We are signing our daughter up for a class in August, can we order all three of our Disney tickets through the yes program or do we need to order ours (the parents) separately?

Many thanks,
Kate

You can order as many tickets as you need through YES as long as one student is enrolled in a class when ordering through the individual enrollment.

If the class does not fill up and you can not do an alternate program, your park tickets are still valid- you just don't get to do the class and that portion of the ticket is not refunded (I think YES classes are $25 each).

Hi all! This sounds like a great program! We will be at WDW arriving May 14, leaving May 21, so we would love to join any groups May 15-20. It is DH and I, DD (2nd grade, will be 8) and DS (5th grade - 11). I PM'd a couple of people I saw who would be there during this time, and I hope to hear back from someone! Thanks!!

Michele
