Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Just popped on to catch up. Disney was great and so relaxing. Then I came home to reality. My SIL was in the hospital twice in one 1 week, high BP with a stroke risk Then really low blood sugar. Thankfully he seems to be ok now. My computer had issues with word and I lost a few files then it decided to be in Spanish. Took several days to fix that.

My dad is in the hospital again and probably won’t be out for Easter. Tried to visit my grandparents grave since my grandson had a baseball game minutes away from the cemetery. Only problem was the cemetery lost them. Took a couple days to straighten that out but I know where they are now at least. Went to my grandsons game and got nailed in the abdomen by a 100 mile an hour foul ball. My daughter and the trainer insisted I go to the ER. Thankfully other than a real ugly bruise I’m okay.

QOTD: when I was little we went to my aunts house for Easter. She lived in a tiny row house, the one she was raised in with 9 siblings. They all showed up with kids. My aunt had to have a Krakus Polish canned ham. Thinking back now it was horrible. My grandfather and then my uncles always made a lamb cake and we had to have a butter lamb. Thankfully my grandmother lived behind her and she always had fresh kielbasa and babka. Now we go to my mom’s. There is ham and potato salad and jello eggs. Plus whatever else we bring. I always make pineapple upside down cake.

I will try and pop on again but if I don’t find the time have a Happy Easter
Glad you were ok. Hazards of watching a game, wow! Glad Anthony’s playing again.

Just extra love and prayers to all especially Bobbi, Easyas, Pea, and Taz.

Dear Pea, I use the handheld shower in my hand. You can see it in one of the shower bench pictures. Dad uses it regularly up high. We both really like it.

I tried to share earlier that yes I feel a renewed call from God to get finalizing my Christian non-fiction book of short stories and experiences. Stories will be divided into 5 sections that spell Jesus. Heartfelt thanks again indeed to all of you for your prayers and encouragement and those of you who have already contributed in some way. I currently have about 43 or 44 stories and would love at least 50 total. Any length even a few paragraphs. I still need an extra paragraph or two to something a friend years ago began but never finished. Finally, any ideas for transitions between sections (bridge/illustrations) would be fantastic. I definitely need filler.

I do still envision the above book as having a scrapbook feel. Every story has a related picture either taken by the author or drawn. No internet found images please. I want this to be inviting to all. Any proceeds would be used in a serving way.

The second book is also a calling from God but one born out of my year in the nursing home. I do have a lot of documentation as well as an overall theming idea. It would be like a resource handbook for residents, family, staff, and anyone else interested. I have started a list for each alphabet letter to assist with this. For example, letter A might focus on Activities, Administration, and Advocacy. Letter S might be Sleep, Staff, and Supplies. I pray to have made clear that my time at the facility was blessed by many wonderful people who God had me meet who made such a difference to me. Yes, sadly the opposite was also true. The purpose of the book is in ZERO way intended to speak ill of anyone specifically just to I pray help give some voice and resources/suggestions to those in nursing homes and their families.

One day when I am completely on my feet again, I would love to be an advocate/unofficial chaplain, prayer partner, therapy encourager for residents and families. To turn my experience into added hope for others. Not about me. A majority of book proceeds would be used toward this.

Thank you dear friends for reading all this long post. Please keep any replies book related to PM. I sincerely would deeply appreciate some Quacker assistance with this.

Sweet dreams with love to all.

Mona Your bathroom looks great. You are really on your way to a good recovery.

Taz Sorry your Dad and SIL are in the hospital. I hope you are better from the hit you took at the game. That must have hurt! Happy Easter to you and your family. Hope your Dad is able to get home for Easter or soon thereafter.

EasyAs It is not easy being there for someone who has been difficult in your life. You are being kind and understanding when they need it most.

QOTD: We always had ham for dinner. Jeff is making one for this Easter with Aimee's great mashed potatoes. When Jeff asked me if I had any requests for dinner Ellie and I both said mashed potatoes. I also have a chocolate bunny and cadbury eggs for me. Those are my yearly favorites with jelly beans on the side. The chocolate bunny is sitting on my counter just waiting.

Good morning. It is 52 now with temps heading to 70. It will be a rainy day. I went to the lake yesterday and it was wonderful to walk in nature again. A squirrel ran across my path and then stopped to look at me. He was part brown and part gray. Interesting. I am happy to have my dress for the wedding and I have silver sandals too. I did buy a Spanx to go under it. No nylons. The dress goes to my ankles so the sandals will just show. I need a purse. I got the wedding shower invite yesterday. It is in early June in a town I have no idea where it is. I will need google maps. I quizzed Kate about the wedding plans while we walked at the lake on Sunday. Kenny tells me to ask Kate so I did. At least now I have an idea of the time line for the wedding and rehearsal dinner. I did offer to help but I suspect I won't be asked. There will be makeup and hair done before the wedding so I signed on for that. I need all the help I can get! :)

Have a good day.

The shower curtain is pretty, Mona!

I saw the first yellow on my neighbors' forsythia bush yesterday, so it is officially spring! 🌼

Hugs to everyone dealing with medical issues - whether yours or a family member's. It's never fun. I'm having a bit of a rough time myself with an old cyst acting up again, and run-around phone calls for referrals. Hoping to get it straightened out today.

QOTD - We always have ham for Easter at MIL's. I enjoy Easter stuff, so I still do a basket for DS, and I sent little bunny craft things in the mail to my cousins' kids. (The great nephews are babies, so they just got cards, but next year with be fun with them as well.)

As a kid, I remember egg hunts at my Aunt's house, and a bunny cake with coconut "fur". When we got older, we had hunts at our house for Andes mints instead of eggs.

Good morning. 55 now going to 82. The nice weather will give me a chance to get another flower bed mulched and weeded before it rains tomorrow.

@tazdev3225 and @Pea-n-Me :grouphug:

My Amazon order never got delivered yesterday, tracking showed it was never even out for delivery, says 'running late'. I have to check and see if it's coming today.

Summer has to drive her hubby to Huntington today, stay at a hotel overnight, the guys will leave around 4 am for Jacksonville.

Have a good day

I'm ready to give up online ordering. The Amazon pkg still isn't out for delivery. They refunded me the full amount, plus an extra $10, told me to keep the item when it gets here. I placed a Walmart order earlier. Got a text that she substituted an item, I didn't want any substitutions, so I cancelled the order. I placed it again, omitting that one item.
I get a notice that 'Bonnie' is shopping it. That's the same guy who damaged my bush. I cancelled the order and called Walmart for the third time this morning. This guy is not a woman named Bonnie, it's a man, and you can't use someone else's Spark account in any way, shape or form. They have the complaint and are going to take action against the driver when it's complete. They are also going to call the store, explain the whole situation and tell them 'Bonnie' is not to be anywhere near any of my orders.

Good morning. It is 53 now with temps heading to 70. There were be showers occasionally. It seems like we are having rain off and on most days this week. I went to Market Basket yesterday as I figured the rest of the week would be busier than usual. I can handle Wegman's when it is busy as it is big and more organized at the check out area. Market Basket can be a mess. Just walking a bit today and talking with my NH friend then Qi Gong in the evening.

Have a good day.

Good morning ! 70% chance of rain here today. I am dealing with leg pain. This is our week for taking St Vincent de Paul calls. This hasn’t been a very busy week.

Tom has been concerned about his health and our Transatlantic cruise coming this September, so, we will be canceling that and changing the placeholder to a Halloween cruise. We will have to waitlist main dining, but we have been successful in getting that, so, we hope to get it, or we will manage.

@PollyannaMom, I love that you shared seeing forsythia! It is a wonderful sign of spring! Around here, the daffodils are spreading yellow cheer! Best wishes as you deal with the cyst.

Enjoy this Wednesday!

Good morning. Had showers last night, but none of the bad storms others had. It's 62 now going to 78 and we go from sun to clouds.

Just had to call Amazon yet again. That same pkg, which showed as arrived and processed at the local warehouse on Monday, now shows arrived and processed this morning. Apparently it got lost in transit, which means either the warehouse or the driver lost it.

Amazon issued me a partial refund on my Prime membership and when I get the item, they will issue a full refund for it. She also credited an Amazon gift card with $20 for all of the issues.

My Walmart order was delivered at 8 am by a girl on her first day as a Spark driver. I feel sorry for her, lol

Heading out to do errands and hoping I don't get caught in any downpours.

Have a good day.

Good morning. 56 now going to 70. We had a couple of short thunderstorms last night along with quite a bit of rain.

I waited until 9:15 last night for that Amazon 'out for delivery' pkg and then called. She had no clue where the pkg went. I cancelled the order and they issue me a full refund. She again marked my account as 'do not ship by Amazon logistics', for all the good it will do. She said if that pkg does show up, just keep it. I intend to. (it's a solar address sign, I already have one, but I was going to put another one down at the bottom at the corner of the driveway). So I ordered what was a $29 item and in the end they refunded me a total of $68.

I had such a headache yesterday I decided to wait until today to do errands, which I'll do early this morning.

I did get another flower bed weeded and mulched before it got too hot (we got to 83).

Have a good day

Bobbiwoz I hope your leg pain is getting better.

Good morning. It is 38 now with temps only going to about 43 today. It is raining today. Yesterday was warm but mostly dreary with a few sunny times. Kenny is now looking at South Florida for our trip next Feb. The airfare to Aruba is just too high and shows no signs of coming down soon. Plus I think alot of us would rather go to Florida. Kenny found an Airbnb in Naples which looks really nice with enough space for all of us. I would prefer that so I hope that is where we go. Busy week at work with it being the first week of the month. I am counting down how many close weeks I have left. I made up all the Easter baskets for the kids and grandkids. I like to give little pieces of candy so the kids can have a couple and then save the rest for later. They do love Pez and usually choose that first. I have a few little toys like legos, a car racer, and squishy bunnies.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone🐥:grouphug:

Dear Lynn, all of your delivery troubles just sound awful and so crazy. I'm sorry, my friend and pray that will resolve already!

Dear Snowysmom, it sounds like Florida would be a preferred trip. May it be sunny and fun when the time comes indeed.

My session with Gayla went well yesterday and I had another shower. Dad and I will give Gayla her noodle surprise on Saturday, it's all finished and came out cute. Dad found a perfect size plastic shoe box that stands up on it's side at Dollar Tree to display it in. I will take a picture to share.

Thursday hugs to all.

Jumping in just to share...

Sunny morning here in Orono but it's supposed to be cloudy for the rest of the day and in the mid-40s. I'm fine with that. I miss sun, but I appreciate the warm weather and so do my daffodils- they are starting to come up and show some yellow at the tips of where the blossom will be. DH is making gardening noises; I suspect he'll be purchasing annuals this weekend, although I'm concerned that it's too soon. Can't quite trust the weather up here yet (although April is FAR better than March).

This week and next are slow at work. I either teach organic chem labs or have to be in attendance when other sections are being conducted as a major portion of my job. Most of the rest of it can be done at home (grading, sigh). This week there is no pre-lab test and it's a quick reaction, so I've only had to be on campus for about 3 hours a day, which is nice. Also there is no lab next week so I'm going to NH to visit my sister. I've gotten some things done at home this week. On Tuesday DH said he'd looked at the schedule and had some free time in May (during finals week, when neither of us is teaching) so we planned a quickie get-away to Disney to go to Epcot's Flower&Garden Festival. I'm excited; I love Disney but DH isn't a big fan, so we don't often go to the theme parks together. It's a quick trip, flying down on a Sunday and home on a Wednesday, but using rewards miles so the airfare is basically free. I also have Disney gift card money left from our trip in January (which was to Florida but not to the parks... although we might have found a few Disney restaurants, hahaha) so that will offset some of the cost, and a credit towards the park ticket. We'll do one day of roaming, one day at F&G, and then home. I was surprised DH suggested/agreed to this, but I'm happy to be planning.

Today I will go in to work for 3 hours, then over to DD's for the afternoon. She has new pointe shoes (never expected to be watching her still dancing at 32) so we'll get the ribbons on those. I'll bring the Little Guy home with me for supper and overnight, then ship him off to school tomorrow morning. It's an easy way for us to stay in touch- important as they lived with us for 3+ years and haven't been in their own home for even a year yet- and we enjoy his company. He'll be 10 in July... hard to believe. He is DD's stepson, but they ahve good relationship that gets stronger with every passing day. So today will be a good day!

Just a quick hello before I head out to fill over 600 eggs for the church Easter egg hunt. Thankfully I am having some help this year. Of course right now the forecast is showing rain for Easter, and the hunt is in the cemetery and on the other lawn. Hopefully it holds off til later in the day.

Dad is still in the hospital, and it looks like he will not be home by Sunday. The fight has already started with Speech and the drs. wanting to put a feeding tube in him. We are all adamant that will NOT happen. Mom knows there is a risk of him choking but she sits with him during meals and keeps his food as soft as possible. The bigger issue is getting 8 glasses of water in him which he does choke on. We all know that at almost 90 he has a short period of time left to us and we will not take his food from him. The first day I can I am getting him a chocolate water ice. He loves them.

Anthony had a baseball game yesterday and the only reason I really went is to go to a religious store that was near the field, it was an away game and over an hour drive, so I wanted to take advantage of that. He is going into the military when he graduates, and I wanted to get him a St. Michael's medal. He's the patron saint of warriors.

I really don't want to go to Anthony's games anymore but will to support him. There are new coaches and they really dislike Anthony and his one friend. He played for an opposing tournament team but did try out for these coaches before he tore his ACL. My daughter kept him on his original team. Anthony and one other boy who played with him on the tournament team are treated like they do not exist and it's frustrating to watch both boys be treated like that AND deal with the mean girl moms who gloat over it. My daughter, the other boy's mom and I are going now to cheer on the opposing teams. Petty, I know but when we see these boys being treated so unfairly, we can't help it. Anthony's friend has played for the school since they were freshmen but the one mom asked me to take pictures of Anthony and the other "NEW" boy for some gift they are making the seniors. My daughter told me take pics but do NOT share them. It just hurts me as his grandmother to see him treated like this over pettiness. I think what bothers me along with this is they like to comment on how I was hit by the ball a week ago. "Better watch out, this fence is low," or better stay behind the fence to take pictures since you like to get hit with the ball." Seriously how ridiculous can grown women, with grown men for sons, be?

Oh well off to run a few errands, fill the eggs, pick up my 2 free hams and maybe have time to see my dad.

So much for no rain today. It dumped down earlier, and we just had another batch of it.

The stores were absolutely nuts. I got what I needed and got out. I got rosemary seasoned lamb shanks to try for Easter, I didn't like the way the lamb chops looked.

Summer was doing inspections and running late and asked me to pick up Gracie at work and bring home. Gracie called me and asked what kind of sub I wanted her to make me. They can make food and take it home with them for free. I thanked her, but I had just stopped at McD's to get a Filet o Fish and a small fry because I was starving and had a headache. Summer met me half way to their house and took her the rest of the way.
I say this is an accident waiting to happen. Jersey Mike's is opening next Wed (Gracie's second job), and the speaker for their drive thru is in the front, to the side of the front door. So if cars are lined up there waiting to order and then go around back to pay and get food, anyone trying to walk in the front door in front of all those cars is in danger of being hit. Not a good choice for where to put that speaker. Gracie said the food is good, but it takes longer to make because it's made to order. I can see people trying to get a quick lunch and being stuck in the drive thru lane for a long time.

I have the 2 refunds from Amazon in my bank account already. One of the 3 items I returned today had an advance refund and I'll have the other 2 as soon as the register as being returned.

CVS was also a joke. There were 2 people in front of me. There are 3 sign in screens. One person working the counter. She had 3 people sign in and then jumped from one register to the other. Waited 20 min for her to get to me. They need to find a better system, or add more people working at the pick up counter.

Off to relax and find something for dinner.

theluckyrabbit Thanks for the cute video.

Good morning. It is 37 now with temps heading to the mid 60s. I am tired of the dreariness this week. Want to see some sun. I went to Wegman's yesterday. It was a bit more crowded than usual but not too bad. Checkout was fairly quick. Sunday is brunch at Jeff's instead of dinner which I like better. Aimee makes her cinnamon rolls from scratch and they are so good. I always take one back with me. I hope to walk at the park today. Kenny's kids start soccer practice next week with the first game a week from tomorrow. Kenny is coaching Owen's team. Last season he coached Ethan's. Jeff's kids are doing sports too. Luke is soccer, Ellie is running, and Charlotte is softball. Sam takes swim lessons. Everyone is busy.

Have a good Friday.
