We having been checking into the benefits of the Disney Visa. I wanted to hear from present cardholders if it is worth getting. Mainly I am curious about the discounts.
Going in May and cannot wait:cheer2:

I don't know much about discounts, but I think the rewards are GREAT! I guess it depends on how often you use your credit card. I know some people charge groceries, etc. and just pay off their balance each month. Personally, DH uses it for work/travel and we just redeemed our rewards and have $125 gift card to spend in 2 weeks!! I'd say that's pretty good!

I agree with the above poster. The rewards are good. $1 reward dollar to $100 charged. So when we have a trip planned, I use my card for various purchases and then get a rewards card to spend at Disney. Also, if you charge your disney vacation to the card, you get interest free for 6 mos. It also used to be that just Disney Visa cardholders got free dining, but I guess that's no longer the case. Other than that, I think most of the cardholder offers are pretty much available to anyone who does a little digging/research.

Yes, we made good use the the rewards. I have even put our car insurance and cable bill payments on the card to get the dollars. You just have to be good about paying it off just as if you mailed a check or you can defeat the purpose of using the card to get points by paying interest. I have also gotten free dollars by answering a survey (10) and referring new cardholders (25) and 25 gift card for the new holder. We did this since we will be visiting next week and gathered a few hundred dollars plus charged the trip, get dollars plus no interest for 6 months!! Good advantages as far as I am concerned. A few years ago, they even offered double dollars for a period in late spring (2 for each 100 charged) Haven't seen that lately though.

I love my Visa card:thumbsup2 . Not only do I use my card for everything and accumulate extra money to spend at the parks, I also saved over $550 on my upcoming November trip to the GF with the Disney Visa code.

We use our Visa instead of writing checks. Saves time, effort and adds to our vacation fund. Besides gotta love pay at the pump!!! There have been a few promos from Visa that we received this summer. I think we had triple points on gas or grocery purchases over $400 per month for 3 months. Loved that one!! My husband commutes to work!! However I don't receiving a discount code on the rooms but I may have missed it!!

The card is great. You even get a quarterly newsletter telling you of any benefits you may receive while at WDW or DL. For example, discounts on purchases, or meet and greet photo ops exclusive to Disney Visa card holders. I love walking into the selected spot at Disney, whipping out my Visa card as proof and seeing two or three characters just hanging around waiting to take a photo with some Disney Visa card holder. Take the picture (or two) then come back in a few hours and presto, a free 8x10 of you and your family at Disney.:teeth: They used to have free movie premeire tickets a few years back if you signed up for it in your area - I miss that one.

I got the card for two main reasons: earning points toward a card to spend while at Disney AND the ability to put the trip on the charge and pay it off with 6 months no interest. Any thing else I get on top of that is gravy!! :cool1:

I am a card holder but have several questions. If a resort discount comes out for January could I put just that on the disney Visa card and get no interest for 6 mos? I already have airfare at a good price. Also I have quite a few reward dollars to use where is the best place to purchase park tickets using
my reward dollars? I'd prefer to have them in hand when we get to the parks. TIA

I also think there is a 10% discount in a few of the stores in Lake Buena Vista. They changed the name of the area now but the shopping village.

I signed up about 6 month ago. I figured why not. I do pay it off right away, for the most part. I even make up to 3 payments a month, as soon as it goes on I pay it off. I go a free $50 Disney gift card, just for signing up (this offer is in Birnbaum's book at the end with the coupons) and now I have about another $50 just in points. They do have the free meet n greets, also 10% off (min $25 purchase, we all now that is VERY easy to do) in the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney Market Place. Saves you a little bit more than the tax. Also, gives you 20% off non-discounted prices on slect tours. You also receive quartely mailings about specials in Disney. I really like it so far!:cloud9:

I actually have 2 disney visa's...Dunno how but I do. One is bambi and the other is red with a mickey head. How do I know how many reward points I have and how can I cash them in before I get there?! I am paying for my trip with it and I also use it alot and pay it off each month. Just curious because I never knew about the meet and greets. How can I find out more?!

I got a $15 gift card as part of the rewards with Disney, and it says I can use it for any Disney stuff...even in WDW. Did anyone else get this?

Your monthly bill has how many reward points and the phone number to redeem them on it. I access my bill on-line each month and click on Disney offers. It tells you what perks you get if you use your card.

It is on your statement. You can also call 800 300 8575. Pretty sure that's the phone number. I think it's option 4 to find out about Disney Dollars. Each card will have its own. They do expire (long expirations) and can be transferred to a card to use for Disney stuff.

Here's the link to find all the perks you'll get with the card.

I clicked on the Card Benefits box and it says "0% APR vacation financing for 6 months from the date of purchase on select Walt Disney World® and Disneyland® Resorts vacation packages, all Disney Cruise Line® packages and Adventures by Disney packages when you pay with your Disney Rewards Visa Card. You can take advantage of this anytime you travel when you or your travel agent book through the Walt Disney Travel Company and purchase a ticket inclusive Disney vacation package." Hmmm, I wonder if that includes the moment when you put a deposit on a room too?

(sorry, they downgraded to a 5x7 photo at the meet and greet, but you do get the chance to buy more, maybe in a larger size?)

I don't think it is for room only. I could be wrong, but I purchased 5 tickets for the MNSSHP after we booked our vacation package and was told it was only for vacation packages not tickets if purchased seperately. The deposits (I booked 2 seperate rooms so 2 deposits) were at the 0% and deferred and so was the final payment. They are all 6 months from when charged so the final pmt has 2 additional months. It's still a pretty good deal. You get the Disney Dollars, too!!

Oh yeah, I see your point. Good, that answers the question I had spinning around in my head - package deal it is. See, you learn so much from the DIS!:disrocks:
