What are coneys?
Coneys (we pronounce them "coooonees" are white hotdogs. I have no idea what they are made of as I don't eat them. Rob likes them. I don't even eat hotdogs. I think they are gross. Burgers for me with extra ketchup.

Hey ya'll. I am sorry to whoever said they felt left out. Can't remember now who it was it took me so long to catch up. What are you feeling left out of. Whatever it is, you're free to join in if it is one of our meets.
DM- I think you can go to the guest services desk and ask about the early breakfast buses. I think we may just drive over since we will have a car.
Anyone else planning to be at MGM on the night of mine and Courtney's TOT ride are welcome to join us. Everyone should try to get a fastpass that will be for that time frame if they can.

Back to yall's earlier discussion... I don't tip over what the DDP includes.

Here's what I figure:

1. I am already paying Disney SO much money on my vacation...
2. The food there is SO much more expensive anyway, so the 18% tip would be more like a 22% tip in any other place...
3. These servers work at the happiest place on earth anyway, so not tipping extra won't hurt them =)

1andrea--- I want to see your house!!!!! I'm so sorry the potential buyers cancelled.... What a bummer! I actually went to see "my new" (keep praying!!!) house today.... Man I love it and I just need the closing to get here b/c I'm so nervous about something falling through!

Well aren't you the hostess with the mostess?

Well not really, I hate cooking. BUT.. my husband does know how to use the grill:lmao:

In the summer it is easy to have people over, we just go outside. We have a big upground pool, that my husband insisted we needed:sad2: ... It makes for good summer birthday parties.

So I was just thinking... all you New York people... do you all have that New York Accent????:confused3

All you Southern people, do you all have that Southern accent???:confused3

I dont "Think" I have an accent. I have lived in Va Beach for 13 yrs now, previous to that I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. I dont think I have an accent;)

That would be me Kanga. I've got the cruise and that's it but who knows where I'll be and who I'll run into.

Okay...here's my thoughts. I normally tip about 18%. No, I probably will not tip extra on the DDP unless the server went above and beyond what they are supposed to do. I am not a cheap tipper - at least I don't think so. I give when I see appropriate. I have only "stiffed" one waitress in my life - a waitress in Niagara Falls at a Pizza Hut who decided to take her break while we were waiting for more drinks and our check. She did not tell us she was taking a break. We saw her leave the building and cross the street. Since we were ready to go, we paid our bill and left no tip.

So, I got off track. Sorry. I don't think you need to leave extra for the DDP unless you feel they did an extra great job! I'll be curious to see what others on the DDP say...

:wizard: Hmmm the DIS fairies ate one of my posts... wonder how that happened?! lol :confused3

A tip on "tipping" that someone once told me... (tee hee)

Never leave "nothing" if the service is sub-par - because the server may think you just forgot, and might not realize you were making a point.... Leave something insignificant, like a quarter or one dollar bill, to get your point across. And always bring the problem to the manager's attention.

The thing we try to do (we tend to eat out a lot.. lol) is to also bring to the manager's attention when the service is excellent. We've actually had managers tell us, "wow. thanks for taking the time to let me know. we usually only hear the complaints." We've also had servers run to catch up with us as we were leaving, to thank us for the kind word to their boss.. or to thank us for a generous tip. It makes up for those days when you aren't given the attention and service that you deserve. ;)

Speaking of tipping: here's my "question for the day"....
Do you tip housekeeping each day, at the end of your stay, not at all?
And, if anyone is willing to share ;) ... what do you think is a fair tip for housekeeping?

I don't have the typical "New York" accent that you hear in shows. Most New Yorkers have a nasal sounding accent. Or, at least that's what I've been told. We also seem to pronounce some words with a "flat" sound.

Example: When I was in California, to them I pronounce my name, "Donmaree" the way they say "Don". But I say "Don" with an "ah" sound. Make sense?

Mothers day...just love it with the little kids. My 7 yr old has made me the sweetest things this week. She already gave them to me.

Anybody have special plans for Sunday? No plans here, typical Sunday.
.

Tomorrow Dana and Bob are taking me out to pick out my Mother's Day present, and then out to dinner. Sunday we are singing at 9am mass... this is Dana's last mass with the children's choir, as she is graduating. She's the only one that stayed from Kindergarten to 8th grade, so the music director is supposed to give her a plaque... I haven't told her, because knowing him, he'll forget. lol :rolleyes1

Sunday afternoon we are going to my sister's to celebrate with the rest of my family - parents, and brothers and their families. We are 16 in total now, just my immediate family... gotta love those BIG ITALIAN FAMILIES! lol

Happy Mother's Day to all! :hippie:

This is a good question as long as we can keep it from being a big debate PLEASE!

We tip every day $4 at least. When I request extra towels or something else, I leave more accordingly. I know a lot of people say tip $1 per person but I feel they clean the same room no matter how many people are there so I am not going to tip $5 a day for a tiny room at POR unless they "wow" me.

My inlaws in Michigan insist I have a "New Yawk", "New Joisey" accent, but I most certainly DO NOT. :snooty:
:rotfl:

This, coming from people who think you pronounce three different words the exact same way....
Girls Name: MARY
Will you MARRY me?
and MERRY Christmas..... It's all Mary, Mary, and Mary to them....:sad2:

I know DM has an accent!!!!! Very new yorkish... Unlike how we speak down here on the bayou!

We have never tipped housekeeping, except maybe last year if you can count this in Jamaica (we went after Disney and wished I had stayed in Disney to be honest) when I was in the room one day when the maid was making it up. We had a couple of massive bars of chocolate we had bought in the airport and she was telling me how she loved chocolate but it was expensive so I gave them to her. She then started telling me how she loved the home magazines I had brought from England and how she would love to keep them when was done with them. I thought she was a bit cheeky!

Ok - that's interesting... I grew up in a family that rarely left a tip for housekeeping - I think that was because my parents were literally counting their pennies to take us on vacation.

I used to leave something the last day - until it dawned on me (pun not intended, DM :goodvibes ) that it isn't always the same housekeeper. So now I leave it each day - but I was leaving $2 or $3 a day. (occasionally $5 if they did something special for us) ...

No "debate", as you say, DawnMaree... just wondering. :goodvibes
