Has anyone been DVC for years and NOT owned direct contracts?

Technically yes, 2 years! Bought resale in 2021 and am happy with that decision, then succumbed in 2023 for the VGF sale for direct benefits, putting both my adult kids names on the contract, and am now eyeing a similar Riviera contract so they both can get a direct contract some day to keep or sell as they see fit. They both like going although not too sure about their significant others. Also, more points needed to travel together with the grandkids now.

LOL.

Polynesian. 150. Fixed week.

But probably mostly really expensive SAP+ points. lol.

I keep telling myself I have 10 days here to back out of this. But so far seems ok. I've thought about it quite a while. I really want to ensure I can leave my frozen tundra in the winter for a week every year.

Congrats and welcome home, again! 🎉

The price difference between PVB resale and direct is negligible and can easily be recouped depending on how you pay it off. The FW is a nice touch and low dues help 👍

I was really torn on the fixed week or splitting into three 50 point contracts. I decided that long term, when kids are big, I might want a Duo to scrounge on points now and then for just me and the spouse, and those are harder to come by than studios, so I went for that. And I figure with winters getting hotter, maybe the point charts in winter will worsen, and that's my prime time to visit. So...long term play for me. But it might not get used much as a fixed week. Apparently I have sixty days to change how I want this all split.

Very nice! 125 isn't that huge that it would be scary on the resale market if you ever wanted to dump it. Plus if this is your direct contract you may not want to part with it and the 25 pointer unless you're completely done with Disney.

The 60 day thing is consistent with what my guide has shared with me. You can go up/down and change the contract sizes or even resort as long as you haven't closed 👍 I've also been told I can opt in to MB later or change my mind and get the points back as long as it's 4+ days before my UY starts. The rebate checks don't generate until you close...

Oh my goodness I wasn’t sure you’d pull the lever anytime soon! Congrats that’s awesome!

I hope it's awesome! So far it's just expensive. :rotfl:I figure since I know I'm not buying a restricted resort (and I don't like the Skyliner), this is my option. And I like the monorail, and Epcot is one of my top two parks, plus I do like Magic Kingdom as well. Location, location, location, right? Slightly easier to/from Epcot vs BLT. I didn't mind my stay at Poly, but I will definitely be trying for BCV and other locations with these points often! :D Keeping my BCV contract, of course.

Haha can’t it be both?

Also saw your post about not touring the duo. We’ve stayed in a Poly duo on two occasions so far and I’ve really liked it. They’re surprisingly roomy and well furnished. I like them better than the Riviera tower studios, they allocated the limited space much better in the poly duos imo.
