Okay...here's my thoughts. I normally tip about 18%. No, I probably will not tip extra on the DDP unless the server went above and beyond what they are supposed to do. I am not a cheap tipper - at least I don't think so. I give when I see appropriate. I have only "stiffed" one waitress in my life - a waitress in Niagara Falls at a Pizza Hut who decided to take her break while we were waiting for more drinks and our check. She did not tell us she was taking a break. We saw her leave the building and cross the street. Since we were ready to go, we paid our bill and left no tip.

So, I got off track. Sorry. I don't think you need to leave extra for the DDP unless you feel they did an extra great job! I'll be curious to see what others on the DDP say...

I didn't tip extra last time I used DDP- Of course I only had about 3-4 months to save up for the trip and decided to buy the ring about 2 weeks before we left, so I was broke:rotfl:

I just went on the restaurant board- did you guys see the rumor that starting in 2008 the DDP will no longer include tip? :scared1: I don't think I like that idea (especially since I'm sure they are not discouting 18% :rotfl: )

Last time I went to Disney on the DDP I didn't tip anything extra. We usually tip additinal if the service was outstanding but we didn't really receive any outstanding service. Don't get me wrong, the service was good at all the TS restaurants, I couldn't complain because the servers did what they were expected to do, take our order, discuss the menu, refill and serve... so I have nothing to complain about.

I just didn't tip extra. It's stated in the DDP like the 18% tip is included as a perk for the guest to have a worry-free vacation and I totally fell for that hook l ine and sinker! It's wonderful to not have to carry any cash with you and just take a room key!

Yeah and did you see the drama it caused? That's why I love this thread. No drama! :::Hugs everyone::::love:

Questions about our meet @ Donald's. I've never had to catch an early bus for a breakfast. Have you? Do you know anything about this? Also, if we are lucky maybe we can request tables near each other as I hear the rooms at Donald's are split up. :confused3

The only time we did a character breakfast - when Dana was THREE - we were staying at Port Orleans and had to get to Old Key West (do I have that name correct?)... She was totally in love with all things Pooh, so I thought the Winnie the Pooh Breakfast would be great. (an aside: I hadn't been to WDW in awhile, and thought character sightings were difficult - low and behold, they were everywhere - and Dana even had her own private playtime with Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, etc in the gardens of United Kingdom.. I'll look for the photos... ) ANYWAY................ (get me back on TRACK!)

We almost missed the breakfast because we had such a horrific time getting there- we took a bus to the Transportation Center.. but couldn't find a resort bus that early.... then some "not in service" bus driver was kind enough to drive us over - our own private bus transportation! - Food was lousy, place was crazy noisy with very unruly children and parents just watching them run wild... it was a very BAD experience for us! :sad2:

I wanted to ask you all a question. I have been reading a couple of the threads about tipping on the DDP. There are quite a lot of different opinions, but I wanted to hear what you all think. Do you all tip extra on the DDP? Last year I used the DDP, and I knew that the tip was included so I never left extra. I never looked at the receipt or the cost of the meal, I just signed my name and made sure they had deducted the right amount of credits. Now this year I realized that the tip is only 18%. Do you all agree that 20% is the normal amount to tip? And if it is, should I bring extra cash to make sure I tip extra at table service meals. Tipping extra would make the 18% be a 20% tip. Do you tip extra at the buffet restaurants? I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing and I want to hear what you all the the DDP do.

I usually don't tip extra when on the DDP. When I go out to eat at home, my standard tip is more like 20%. Here's my logic: the difference between 18% and 20% is not all that much (for us it's a $2-$3 difference). Plus, the prices of the food at Disney are SO MUCH higher than what you would normally pay in a restaurant, so 18% of a Disney bill is pretty darn good. You see what I'm saying?

Now, if we receive really excellent service we will leave extra. That has only happened once so far, at Donald's breakfast at AK. So all of you who are going to Donald's breakfast, request Mikeosaurus as your server - he is the best! Absolutely the most magical server in all of WDW! :wizard:

I had only read the first two pages when I wrote that. I did go back and skip to the end. I can't believe the person that only tips $5 MAX

I know! But I'm glad I read the thread because now I know that not tipping the servers enough could actually cost them money in taxes from their paychecks. I had no idea because I've never been a server nor has anyone in my family. Now I feel obligated to tip them at least the customary 15% even if the service was so-so.

Yeah. They are not discounting anything. I think just about everyone said they would not do the DDP if tip is not included. I can't imagine tipping myself after seeing what the bill would be like. Normally, we would not order an appetizer and just an occasional dessert.

If Disney discounted the plan by 18% maybe then I would do it but it certainly would be a big pain in the ****!

I think that person is a Jerk - with a capital "J".

Mothers day...just love it with the little kids. My 7 yr old has made me the sweetest things this week. She already gave them to me.

Anybody have special plans for Sunday? No plans here, typical Sunday. I will take my foster dog to Petsmart for the adoption show, other then that nothing. That is 3 hrs I get all to myself(no kids, no housework);)

Now me and my two youngest ones are making a paper countdown chain until we leave for Disney. I need to count the exact amt of days though.

OMG, did you see where she didn't tip the waitress at Applebee's (who was someone she used to work with!) because they ran out of chicken and her husband's burger was overcooked??!! None of which is the server's fault. :sad2:

Makes me so mad... why do I even read these threads?

Oh, and if they do take the tip out of the DDP, I won't be using it anymore either. I really hope the rumor is not true, but it seems most rumors around here turn out to be correct.

What have you all been up to today?

I have a rotten day, the estate agent called to say I had a viewing for the house I have up for sale. Its been on the market for 8 weeks and the first viewing. So I spent the day picking litter and weeding the gardens in the rain, finishing off all the little jobs I have been putting off and cleaning and more cleaning and buying airfreshners and cleaning and sweeping the yard and did I mention cleaning.

Then an hour before they were due during the 20min drive home the agent called and said they had cancelled without a reason:confused3

I wouldnt mind so much but all the things done today will need to be re-done again before the next viewing so the day was a complete waste.

If any of you want to give me your opinion on the house I am selling I will post you the web address.

Thats it rant over

Andrea

No plans for me either. I have a ton of cleaning and laundry that needs to be done. But no fun stuff planned.

Well, at least not ALL if it will have to be redone. Weeding and stuff should be fine, but what do I know? I'm no gardener. Give me the web address of the home you're trying to sell. I love looking at homes online. I am a big dreamer. Anyone want to see the $2.9 million home that I have all picked out in Temecula, California? :rotfl2: I plan on winning Mega Millions real soon!

Well shoot! I love me a good cookout - I was all ready to come on over! ;)
Tickets will be on sale at the door...

Hamburgs, hotdogs, coneys.
Pasta salad, macaroni salad, potato salad, fruit salad (yummy, yummy) [a nod to The Wiggles].
Vanilla cake with chocolate filling and white buttercreme frosting.

You mean you really wouldnt want the locals showing up;) If you all lived closer, Id invite you all over for a cookout. All the kids could entertain themselves, and I am sure all the adults could converse over a few drinks;)
