To Infinity and Beyond - Becoming a Better DopeyBadger (Comments Welcome)

Congrats on finding a new job quickly! Sorry you haven't had as much of a chance to run, but I've enjoyed following along with the impressive costume development! I hope this year is kinder to you and your family.

Thanks! Looking forward to the newness of 2025.

Congratulations on the new job!

Thanks!

Great to see an update from you! Excited to see what's to come in your running/racing this year.

Thanks!

All the best in your new job!!

Thanks!

Congratulations on the new job. Looking forward to seeing the next costumes come together. Especially the Smell-O-Vision.

Thanks! Smell-o-vision is definitely the next frontier!

Good luck starting the new job and in finding your "one little spark" (or more) to inspire your running.

Thanks! Chasing Figment around would keep me busy! :scratchin

Good luck in the new role 👍

Thanks!

Congratulations on being so honest yet considerate with yourself, and with others too. I find that this is part of the excellent example you set and why I enjoy reading your posts.

Wishing you joy and satisfaction in every thing you will attempt in 2025, starting with the new job.

Appreciate it.

Good luck with the new job! Can't wait to read and watch along with your costume building once more too.

Thanks! In addition to our MNSSHP, I've got Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland on the costume making docket as well. So lots of new twists are sure to come.

I hope that 2025 is your year! 💗💫🌈🍀⚪🤞

I feel you on the motivation aspect. I still have a few PRs that I'd like to eek out but am likely hitting my maximum capability. It's tough to think about. Why am I doing this if not to get better? What I've found so far is that running generally makes me a happier and healthier person. But that isn't always enough for those extra long or tough workouts...

This is great stuff.

As I was cleaning up my work laptop, I found this blast from the past Excel file from August 2012. Long lost copy of my original marathon training plan. For context, I don't believe I had ever run more than 5 miles or so before I wrote this and undertook a marathon 9 weeks later because it was "only" a few dollars more for double the distance. What a deal?!?!

BTW, don't do this. I was dumb and it was a stupid decision.

I could be mean and say that almost looks like a Galloway plan... :P

In the three days per week part, but obviously severely truncated, without the run/walk, and every training run was a PR effort. Pretty sure it was designed after, "So I read online you're supposed to do 20 miles before a marathon." To be fair, I didn't even know what a marathon was on 8/12/12 before signing up for one.

But some of my earliest planned training plans were modeled after Galloway. But still lacked run/walk, and was racing each training run, so not true Galloway plans.

Let's just leave it that, I've learned a lot in the last 12.5 years. :faint:

That's almost as many miles as I completed in my Dopey training plan (which was only about 40% of the scheduled miles)
