DIS NCAA Bracket Challenge - Come discuss the tourney!

Can't the theme of your sermon work around basketball? ;) :confused3

LOL... DW and I are in the midst of a sermon series on Jesus' last seven words from the cross. I am preaching this week, and the "word" is "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Honestly, I should go live a hole or something to be in the right frame of mind to do this. I'll probably wind up staying up late tonight to really bear down on it.

That's probably what Coach K was saying during the game last night....

Oh yeah, that's a heavy one. Some time alone in the quiet of the night, would be most appropriate.

Darn march madness falling during the time of lent. ;)

ETA: Fitswimmer, :lmao:

One of my best friends is a music minister and she growls about this every year. Not only that, but hockey playoffs usually start during Holy Week! I have RUN out of Mass on Holy Thursday night to turn on the radio and see how my team was doing.

As to the topic of basketball, is anyone else watching GA Tech-UNLV? If so you can see what I mean about them being so maddeningly inconsistent. They have a good freshman point guard, but he disappears for long stretches. The are bigger but forget to block out on rebounds. :headache: UNLV isn't even playing that well and have a comfortable lead.

The worst is when Easter Sunday is on Final Four weekend :headache: :sad2:

I'm bouncing btw that one and Memphis. I have GT and Memphis to win and if they both go down, I'm going down in flames with them.

Growning up, one of my friends dad was a minister who was a NCAA Tournament Freak!!!! The congregation knew he was bball crazy, so the one year there was a suggestion that instead of him coming up with new sermons during the tournament, that they would submitted their favorite sermons from the past year and what ever ones were drawn from the ballots would be used. He is still using this system to this day.

I feel like I'm watching a game of street basketball with Memphis/N Texas. It's so sloppy.

I'm picturing you dashing down the aisle after the Priest, dousing holy water as you run through the door, and flying down the stairs in the front of the church.:lmao:

:rotfl: What grace!

So far I've been able to find the time for proper sermon preparation even during the tourney, but sometimes it can be tough. In our current arrangement, DW preaches about once every 3-4 weeks so that allows me to space things out a bit. She preaches next week so that I can give the "appropriate" attention to the Sweet Sixteen. I've devoted about 20 hours so far this week to prayer and study for the message. The hard part is knuckling down for about 3-4 more hours between now and Sunday to finish it out.

That's about what it looked like....:lmao:

Don't get between me and my hockey team during the playoffs.

GT is dragging themselves back into it!!!!

I'm just not into it. Hoping they switch me back to the Tech game soon.

I know, I'd rather be watching that. I really can't stand Memphis. I just don't think they are that good. They won 23 games or something in a row? But also, they come from a weaker conference (especially after the expanding of the Big East that took teams from the CUSA).

GT only down by 7 at the half? I'll take it.

You know the old adage... the first 5 minutes of the second half can change the game. Maybe GA Tech is putting together a come back. Would be nice if we could see it :rolleyes1
