Direct price increase coming 5/27

I am trying for a 50 point Dec UY add on but was told I had to get on the waitlist. I am matching my existing points so it is this or nothing. Here's hoping it comes through....

Do you already own at SSR? If not, what plans do you have with a 50 point contract? I requested 125 points, but I haven't heard back yet. Wondering if I should send another email saying we would take a smaller contract.

They didn't raise SSR when they raised some of the others (last time).

SSR was $145 back in 2017 IIRC and the others have gone up way more. So, it was probably time.

Well SS was at $160 pp in early 2020 so when did they boost it up to $165 pp. Late 2020? So 2 price increases within 8-12 months is pretty bad IMO.

We paid $160 per point last month for 150 points. I think the price for 125-149 points was $165. Could be wrong though, we are newbies.

If you actually speak to your guide via phone - they can keep the existing price for a further 14 days.

I have done that - so it buys you a bit more time.

This applies whether you are on the waitlist or not.

I am August UY and want 200 points in total and now on the waitlist.......

I am in the same boat. On the 14 day waitlist for Aug UY for 125 points.

I think if you bought at least 150 points for got a $5 per point discount due to promotion. I think the set price was $165 pp

From what I can find, it went up to $160 in June of 2019 and then it went to $165 in late 2019.

I expected a price hike but was hoping for $5-$10. Believe me, I'm not excited about this by any means. I want points, too. lol

We already own at SSR and we want everything to match what we already have.

If that is the timing then this increase makes more sense.

This is interesting as there was some discussion in another thread pointing out that with resale price increase direct was becoming more attractive for ssr. I guess Disney fixed that for me and I’ll look back at resale market hah.

The crazy thing about SSR is it’s not many people’s favorite resort, but so many people who are hard core DVC fans have some SSR points in their portfolio. It just makes sense.

We love the treehouses so we own SSR to book those, they are a bit easier to get now that they raised the point costs on them.

This ^^ they had a promo going where if you bought 150+ points it was $160pp, i think it went even lower if you bought 200+ points

It's also the best path to the blue card.

I wonder how many of us are sitting on this waitlist now? :earboy2:

Does anyone think this will push resale prices even higher on SSR in the near future?
No, it should soften demand for direct, which will reduce the amount of right of first refusal contracts they take, which will soften resale price pressure. Also there are a ton of Saratoga Springs resale contracts for sale right now, so we may have already hit the demand ceiling on that resort (for now)
I don't think they can combine contracts unless they are from the same "unit".
Correct. You can buy several 25 pointers, but I’m not sure the extra closing cost will actually save you much money
I’ve got a SSR 100 points @ $125 pp in ROFR at the moment. Anyone like to hazard a guess on what my chances are of it passing? It’s got 100/21 and 100/22 available.
99.9999%
So FYI they pulled the promo at SS.
They can do that?!??!?!!?!??!???

So FYI they pulled the promo at SS. My new guide suggested OKW if SS doesn't come through. He also told me they just learned about the price increase today and as of right now, OKW is not changing, but they could be told on short notice for that too.
I had almost the same exact conversation with my guide this afternoon. I’m hoping OKW holds out a bit, at least until I know if they’re going to take my contract in ROFR (and I’m pretty sure they’ll take it at $115/pt).

🤷‍♀️ He asked me how many points I wanted and I said 150 for the promotion. And he told me they aren't offering the promotion. So I said 125. But then the pricing sheet he emailed me shows the $6 off so... 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

125 is cheaper all the way around anyway....

This is sorta funny. On Saturday, when I called about minimum direct point purchases for members versus non-members at OKW and SSR, I was told that both resorts had points available, in every UY. Now, 4 days later and fresh on the heels of this announcement, you've got 8,000 DVC'ers all scrambling to buy SSR points and all ending up on wait lists....for every UY.

Classic run on the bank.
