Direct price increase coming 5/27

My current contract is AKV so I am good there. :) Doesn't OKW usually have good general room availability also?
If all you want is a studio, you’ll probably get one at 7 months. If you want hospitality house category or a Grand Villa, you should plan to own.

Once they increase a price for a resort per point, does it ever go back down in price? Guessing if they want to "lower" the per point pricing they mess with the incentives and not the actual per point pricing?
When Saratoga Springs went back on sale when the treehouses opened, after it had sold out the first time, they lowered the price. They have also lowered the price of Vero Beach in the past due most likely to them winding up with a glut of foreclosure points that they needed to resell.

Often it does, but OKW is not quite as easy as SSR at 7 months. Plus OKW has the cheapest grand villas on property, point wise. Those look a bit hard to snag. I have been looking at GV points lately. It is very likely we will end up banking half our 2021 points, and are thinking of going big in 2022 UY!

So with these new direct prices do you really think VGF2 is going to open for sales less than $255/pt? I do not think so, especially since sales won’t begin for 6-9 months from now.

I've always thought it will match up similar to the other current resorts - ie, RIV. So if they've increased RIV to $255 then that may be what it opens at but I'd be rather shocked by that. Even if they leave the base price set at that my best guess is that incentives will then be used to make it similar.

Just an FYI for folks in the April use year, we just added on 50 points this afternoon at $165. Not sure about other months, but I think by weeks end the $165 will be available for nobody.

Pre-Covid, the AKL GV were not that difficult. Heck, it's even open in Kidani now in both categories for around New Years, which hasn't opened for 7 month just yet. I followed it for years before I bought my SAP. I was planning for off peak (Jan/Feb) to be fair. And that was before Covid...

I definitely still believe it. What I now wonder is if they raise RIV at the same time they lower VGF so they are a bit closer together. Maybe RIV at $215 and VGF at $225..

With VGF2 in the pipeline I am wondering if should sell my resale points and buy direct

I would say the only reason to do this if you have points only eligible for O14 and want them to be used at RIV and future resorts.

Or if you now have a need to have blue card to be eligible for membership perks.

So SSR and OKW had both been $165, and a lot of people would be deciding between those two for their 125 direct points. Both resorts recently got renovations, but SSR seems to have a noticeable increase in the amount of love it's getting.

I wonder if one reason DVC raised SSR and kept OKW at $165 was to convert more of those 2042 OKW points to 2057. This changes the math for the debate between what had been the two lowest on-site DVC resorts. Maybe they're trying to drive more sales to OKW to give them more rationale to ROFR more OKW42 points for conversion to 57.

I do recall they have priced OKW slightly lower than SSR in the past, but then they bumped it up to match SSR shortly thereafter.

Now OKW is the only DVC option on WDW at 165 right?
Everything else on WDW is 180+ I think now.

I know OKW is a 2057 expiration direct, but these 2042 resorts have to start declining in direct pricing in the somewhat near future. There has to be a break even point where paying cash for stays is more advantageous than buying a 2042 resort direct. I’m not sure when that would be.

Yes, you will see a bigger difference in 2042 vs 2057 OKW resale pricing as we get closer to 2042. Right now the difference is pretty small, but it will start to increase. If it were me, I'd be making a decision to keep or sell my 2042 OKW within the next 5 years. I have BWV and I'm definitely keeping it until the end and am looking forward to adding even more BWV when pricing declines.

I’m interested in swooping in and grabbing either BWV or BCV when the price starts dropping. However, there has to be savings to make it worth it. I’d only buy these at resale. Right now, Disney direct is still selling BWV and BCV for over $200, I believe. That’s nuts!

I paid $165 direct for BWV a few years ago and there were plenty of nay-sayers back then, too. But my BWV studio in January is costing me the equivalent of under $130 / night, so it's still really far off from rack with a discount. The big difference for me is I'm not a risk taker and I consider renting a risk. So, I'm always comparing numbers to rack - 30% as a guideline. If you're ok with renting, it's a closer comparison.

The 2042 end is a bummer, but BWV's location reigns supreme as far as we're concerned.
