Direct price increase coming 5/27

My guide said they had small contracts available. I thought they could take two 50 point contracts and give you one 100 point contract?

Or am I wrong about that?

I don't think they can combine contracts unless they are from the same "unit".

Which is why sometimes ROFR is sometimes wonky. Sometimes they are specifically looking for points from a particular unit.

And I think unit is the right term. (If not it's whatever is listed on your deed as what you own a % of.)

I cannot figure out why they wouldn't leverage this more with a bit longer notice unless of course they don't have any SSR points to sell and aren't liking that people want to buy them. And that might be the case. It still is better for them to sell RIV so it's probably to deter SSR purchases.

Does anyone think this will push resale prices even higher on SSR in the near future?

I definitely think it pushes resale higher, especially loaded contracts.

I also see another direct increase in the future for SSR, I see Disney getting it even closer to Aulani direct.

Not a main driver of SSR, but I know for us we bought SSR to also book at Aulani which is fairly easy to do at 7 months.

And we get a lower buy in price, lower MF’s, and a resort near WDW which should help long term value.

Wow! And to think I bought SSR at $94/point! (and BLT at $110/point, GFV at $145/point, and PVB at $165/point)

Ugh. I saw this coming, but I was hoping for more time. We leave Saturday for our first DVC stay and I was hoping to convince my husband to get more points after that.

Call a guide today and get prices. That will lock in a price for you for 14 days I think.

Bingo! People are buying SSR because it's their cheapest way in and DVC wants to sell RIV. They know all the people who got on waitlist today will likely NOT buy SSR if it doesn't come thru in 14 days. They don't care. They will try to convince them to buy RIV instead, which looks much more attractive when SSR is $180/pt. OKW will follow shortly.

Does someone want to pm me the number for a good guide? I do hate to do it if I am not certain I will buy.... Looks like I'd be on a waitlist anyway.

I knew this was coming but it still stinks. We bought resale last year but was hoping to add on eventually with some direct points. Dh isn‘t a Disney person so I don’t think I can convince him to pay $180 a point. Probably just keep what we have and try to get a transfer once in awhile to do longer trips.

This makes me worried about my SSR in ROFR right now 😬. I already had one bought back. Since they have been buying back at $115 pp they needed to increase the profits.

If we loosely associated a 30% discount between direct & resale prices, that implies the new floor of SSR will be ~$125/pt. Last month SSR averaged $124/pt over at dvcresalemarket. Based on that, this definitely seems to be a reactionary increase based on resale movement than the other way around.

The good news is that there may not be more ROFRs than the ones recently. The bad news is based on this thread they're low on direct inventory and your ROFR contract would be roughly a 36% margin if they were to take it.

I’ve got a SSR 100 points @ $125 pp in ROFR at the moment. Anyone like to hazard a guess on what my chances are of it passing? It’s got 100/21 and 100/22 available.

Pretty good I hope since I have a $120 in ROFR myself. The highest ive seen reported taken here last few days was $115. There was a $125 recently that made it through, so I have high hopes for you!

Anybody buy today? My guide just said they didn't have my UY. Thought they could change the UY these days?

I call BS.

lol

They can, buy they still have to have the points in the contract they are changing to make it work.

For example, if they have an April UY nut you want Aug, they can’t change things because April is in its 2021 UY and Aug is not.

So FYI they pulled the promo at SS. My new guide suggested OKW if SS doesn't come through. He also told me they just learned about the price increase today and as of right now, OKW is not changing, but they could be told on short notice for that too.

If you already have a guide, I would send them an email. When I got the email from mine, he said if I was interested, he would be able to lock in the price for 14 days.

Same here, I am locked in for 14 days. Then even when you sign you have 10 days to back out.

So its 24 days in all

I am trying for a 50 point Dec UY add on but was told I had to get on the waitlist. I am matching my existing points so it is this or nothing. Here's hoping it comes through....
