Deyki's Make-A-Wish - 12/15 - Maybe not

Sorry I have been MIA. I am sick with flu-like symptoms. One of deyki's docs said it sounded eerily similar to H1N1, but no one is testing for it around here. I'm just trying to rest and drink lots of water.

We had our first Big Give gift arrive! It was so fun to watch them as they opened it. I will post pics and details when I feel better - hopefully soon!

I hope you get to feeling better soon. I hope Deyki is well too. And how exciting to get your Big Give gifts. Can't wait to hear about them.

Updating for Cathy!

I heard from her today. She is dealing with a personal situation that has given her little to no energy to DIS. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

The kiddos are doing well and have been receiving their BIG GIVE packages and are very excited about them. Cathy is hoping to be feeling better soon so that she can start posting some pics. In the meantine, she asked me to send a big THANK YOU to everyone!!!

Kristine

Give her  and tell her 18 more days and she gets to relax while they all get treated like royalty! Hope she's feeling a bit better now and I'm glad the kids are lovin' the Big Give gifts. We'll be waiting here for more updates...popcorn::

:hug:I hope you are all doing okay now. I will be sending out my Big Give package tomorrow. Watch for a package from Georgia!:wizard:

I've heard from Cathy over the past couple of days...just checking in! She's thankful for the thoughts and prayers. She's still got a lot on her plate BUT she has a new little one staying with her to take her mind off some things!!!

Very good to know!

We are praying for you, Cathy!!!!

Thanks for the prayers and support. I know I am leaving out all details, but the kids are all fine, and I will be. The last few weeks I have been dealing with something that has taken all my energy. Sorry I disappeared - and right when all the fun Big Give Gifts started arriving.

I have pictures I tried to download today, but I discovered my camera was broken! :scared1: Turns out Deyki dropped it accidentally and didn't tell me. I was able to mess with it and get it working again, but it won't download any pictures. Does anyone know how to get pictures off the memory card onto a laptop? :confused3 I am guessing I could take it somwhere and have the pictures transferred to a disk. I plan to try that idea Monday when I have a babysitter. So, look for pictures later this week.

I can't believe we leave two weeks from tomorrow!! :yay: I am so eager to go and really hoping it helps me get some distance from the trauma I have been dealing with the last few weeks. If nothing else, it will be a great break! :woohoo: To add to the magic, I just found out my church has a team of people who want to do projects around the house while we are gone. This house is over 100 years old and has lots of things needing repair. They asked me to put together a list and they will work on it while we are gone! :thumbsup2 Today they had a team here sorting the bags and bags of clothing that had been donated to the program I volunteer with. My basement has never looked as nice and been as organized as it is right now.

The children are all doing well. They are so excited about the Big Give gifts that have arrived! they just can't figure out why people they have never met are caring about them like this. Thank you!!!

Deyki and Chantae both celebrated birthdays in October. We had a Pirate and Princess birthday party last Saturday. Deyki is so proud to tell everyone he is 6 now. His favorite part of the party was the pirate's pretzel rod "sword fight." The pirate with the longest pretzel rod won. My little three year old neice, whose mother is aptly named Cindy, arrived she sweetly said , "Find me something to wear. I'm dressed all in rags and need a lovely gown for the ball."

We have a new toddler in the house for the next month or two. Peanut lived with us for a couple months when he was a newborn. Now he is 15 months old and still as cute as ever. I hadn't heard from his mom in a year, so it was a surprise to get him back for awhile. Michelle continues to make progress with listening and speaking. Nidra is just excited about getting to Disney and meeting Stitch!

I will work on getting pictures posted. I hope to post a bit more as we get so close to our trip. I cherish your prayers as I try to get past some hard things. Thank you, thank you for all the fun Big Give packages!

14 days to go!

Cathy continued hugs and prayers! :wizard:

Glad that you are surrounded in love!! Glad that your church is able to come to your aid and do some things for you!! and I'm really glad you are going to GKTW very soon!! :wizard:

Go to Walmart - ask if they can download your sim card! You can get a CD made with all the pics from the sim card - but there is also a cord that connects to your computer and the sim card fits in the other end (hard to describe!)

just googled http://www.bizrate.com/memory-card-readers/

its a "memory card reader" that you'll be looking for!! Good Luck! :wizard:

In Everything!! :wizard:

So glad to hear from you! And glad things will be/are looking up. A new little one has to bring a smile to your face.

Some laptops will have a slot that the card will fit right into. Mine does not, so I bought at walmart a card reader that hooks into my laptop via the USB port. It was around $10. All you do is plug it into the computer and stick the card in and then the computer reads the card. Make sure you know what type of card you have so you get the right reader if you go that route.

glad to hear that the trip is so close and that the kids are doing well. continued prayers for you and your family. a little mouse told me that the kids should expect another package soon. ;)

I am so glad to hear that you are back and doing better. I am sure the kids are so excited for the trip. I can't wait to see pictures when you get everything figured out! Take care! :grouphug:

I'm so glad you're back and things are ok. I can't wait to see the pics when you figure out how to get them on your laptop.

2 weeks and we're there!!!! YEA!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: I think I'm more excited than the kids are. (Boy can I use the break too! I'm SURE you know exactly what I mean. ;) )

That is wonderful that your church is going to help out around your house. We have a 100yr old house too and it's small and sweet but the needed repairs are never-ending. We gutted ours and started over (sort of). Now it's all the finish work (trims, moldings, etc) and siding and a new roof.....the list still goes on and on. Sometimes I wish we had someone to come in and help out too but DH "declined" the help when it was offered and so we live in a nearly re-done home. Still it's ours and that makes it a good thing. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to get there and meet you all....it's going to be so much fun!

Hi Cathy! It is good to hear from you! Glad things are lookin up! How nice for work to get done while you are gone. I am so glad to hear you guys are enjoying the Big Give packages.

My dear friend's baby needs lots of prayers right now. He is about to be a year old, and will likely spend it in the hospital. He is in the PICU - has been for several days. He is in severe respiratory distress. He has had lots of issues with breathing and suffered brain damage at birth. They are not sure what cause things to get so bad this time. He has an ear infection, but that shouldn't be causing all of this trouble. He is on bi-pap and a nasal trumpet to help him breathe, but they anticipate intubating him before morning. He is spiking fevers above 104 and seems to be in pain. We need a miracle for this little guy!
