Deyki's Make-A-Wish - 12/15 - Maybe not

Thanks for the mini-vacation TR! It sounds like you had a great time and it was just the break you all needed! Congrats on being invited to to be part of the Big Give!

We got good news today! We were invited to participate in the Big Give! :cool1: The timing was excellent because life has been rough the last couple weeks. I needed something to brighten my day! Thanks, ladies! Your kindness and creativity is so special! It comes at a time when it is very needed.

I am rather exhausted tonight. The baby's DCFS worker showed up tonight with bad news about her case. Things are getting a bit complicated and not moving the way we hoped they would. the next couple weeks could be very important in her life. I wish I could schare details, but I really can't. It's taking a lot of my emotional energy right now though.

Maybe tomorrow I will have energy to post pictures of our mini-vacation.

Congrats on the Big Give. We were like you it came at such a great time. Alot has been going on and I really needed the distraction. The antipation of coming home everyday and you see that box sitting on your door step. It was like Christmas over and over.

I hope and pray everything will work out for the baby.

Congrats on the Big Give! You all deserve it.

My prayers are with you that things with the baby go your way. Try to get some sleep tonight and do like we always do...just take it one day at a time.

I can't wait to see pics of the mini-trip. It sounds like you all had a much needed good time.

Thanks for coming over to my pre-trip report.

I just read yours all at once--and baby Juniper is not too happy about that. But I couldn't help it! You're making me realize how little planning I've done, though. :)

I hope all is well with you and your beautiful children.

We really enjoyed the Rockford area - glad you found time to get away - I'm sure it will help recharge your batteries - I will continue to pray for the baby may God's Hand be upon you all! I also ask that He lift you up as well, you are giving so much love - the love that is so needed, unselfishly giving!!

Cant wait to hear about the Big Give!! :wizard::wizard:

Coco Keys must've been fabulous - and you topped it off with a McDonald's play area!! :woohoo: We also did a mini get away - :rotfl2: we went to the BIG City of Chicago!! Thank God for Priceline!! We got the Hyatt for $59 a night!! :worship: DS #2 was in the Chicago Triatholon! :goodvibes

I would suggest uploading the pics at the library - but I think you have patience!! :lovestruc

I have been absent from the boards for a little while and won't have much free time for the next week or so. I direct the Cubbies in our church's Awana, and we kick off in two weeks. I am so excited about the new year, but there is lots to get done. I have about 10 leaders to train and get to know. Then we will have about 50 three and four year olds each Wednesday night. It is growing and I have lots of thinking to do as we start the year.

Deyki and I will be spending Labor Day in the hospital. He needs a blood transfusion, and his insurance only covers them when he is admitted. We will go to the hospital Monday morning and have labs drawn. Then we will do something fun as a whole family before I drop the girls with a sitter for the night and head back. He will get the transfusion while we sleep and be discharged by lunch Tuesday.

This is all in preparation for a brain MRI early, early Wednesday morning. I am hoping we can stay Tuesday night at the Rondald McDonald House so we do not have to drive straight through the Loop in morning rush hour traffic. Deyki gets brain MRIs every couple months because he has changes in his brain from the sickle cell that put him at risk of stroke. We are watching it carefully because if it progresses or shows signs of a silent stroke, we will have decisions to make. I am hoping that everything is stable or even improving.

I am glad he is getting this transfusion because he has been having mild to moderate pain daily and is somewhat pale. I think a rise in hemaglobin will be very good for him.

I'll update when I have results.

We'll be praying that all goes well for Deyki. I think maybe momma could use a long hot bubble bath after everyone is in bed tonight. Keep us updated as you can.

Continued Prayers - we'll keep you and Deyki in our thoughts and prayers!

btw I keep forgetting to tell you - we did Awana when dd was younger - its an AWESOME program!

I am so sorry that Deyki and your family has been going through this. You and your family are in our prayers.:grouphug:

I am writing this with a new baby in my arms, so please forgive any typos. SweetiePie is 3 months old. He came to me just hours ago. He may be going to adoptive home tomorrow if everything works out right.

Deyki is doing well now. His transfusion went well Monday, but he woke up with chest pain and a cough TUesday morning. His breath sounds were somewhat diminished but his chest x-ray was clear. We don't know what caused it, but he got better by the evening. Yesterday's brain MRI went great. No problems!

I am keeping it brief because SweetiePie is a little fussy and hungry.

Good luck with sweetiePie. Hopefully his adoptive comes through and is a loving enviorment for him.

So glad to hear that the MRI went well. That must be a load off your mind. And a new baby how exciting!!!

And your trip is coming up!!!:cool1::woohoo::yay:

Update on SweetiePie: Somewhere out there a couple is making what is probably one of the hardest decisions of their lives. They found out yesterday that baby has some special needs. Now they are taking a few days to decide if they will be able to adopt him or not. I only wish I could meet them and tell them, this is a precious, cuddly baby. He smiles so readily and just loves to be played with. He almost sleeps through the night already and is so very content. How I hope he is in the arms of his forever mom so very soon.

aww Prayers for Sweetie Pie - you are right, they need to talk to you - there's something magical about love!!

Glad Deyki's transfusion went well, hope he is feeling better!

This is a big week for us. SweetiePie is supposed to be in adoption court this morning, so I am waiting to hear if the prospective adoptive family is still planning to take him. I really need to know within the next hour and a half in order to have him there on time.

Wednesday we have our big Awana Kick-Off. My days and nights have been filled with things preparing for it. It is going to be the start of a great year!

Friday night we have a concert with a high-energy Christian family musician named Rob Biagi. We are all looking forward to seeing him perform in person and meeting him afterwards! Deyki told Make-A-Wish that he is his favorite musician, so they will be at the event. They will have a table and Rob will give a shout out to Make A Wish during his show. I hope it's a great time of publicity for them. :dance3: If anyone is in the Chicagoland area and wants to join us the concert and dessert celebration are completely free! :cool1::cool1: All the fun happens at 6:30 at Park Community Church in Chicago. We are located at 1001 N. Crosby just east of Halsted and south of Division. Come join the fun!

SweetiePie is still here resting in my arms with his Mickey Mouse pacifier. Gotta run and feed him, but wanted to give a quick update of his status.
